Well when I saw the intro I always thought the show was gonna be be something where the girls defend nature or something like nature magical girls. Then actually nope it’s a giant monster anime I kinda forgot but I remember them fucking around with neo ranga itself and then mecha show up to fight him.

There is not a lot of action or fan fare for this show I personally found it tried stuffing way to much shit into to be as deep as possible social, Economic, political, spiritual, philosophical, and comedic/SoL bits combined with monster of the week fights it has all those things but I feel like they didn’t glue them together well enough. Like the shows 48 episodes long yet it still felt rushed the monster designs were intriguing the premise was fresh but still you are left asking for more. There’s a reason why this show ain’t really fondly remembered and I wouldn’t really label it as a cult classic as I seen others claim it as.

I see a lot of people and so called "anime critics" give the show a lot of shit and I don't think they GOT IT. Not that the show didn't go away of it's way to make GETTING IT harder than it had to be, it often floundered about and didn't really have a clear goal from the outset, but it was a very different kind of monster show. It was slow, it was melancholic and was really more about finding your place and shit like that. It wasn't really meant to be a normal monster show so much as one that used monsters a means to an end.
