No it didnt,i got memed by retards telling me how good it was and what i got was a cheap knockoff of vagabonds farm arc,and after it literally shounenshit levels of retardness.
Akumetsu REALLY needed a villain with a face. A bunch of politicians you don't really care about or rarely get screentime is hard to really care about, its just the really enjoyable main character killing people with almost nothing else going on. Also the clone bit is a pretty fucking big spoiler
It had many shounenshit scenes before that. And that is why the farm arc was better, because it had few "shounenshit" moments.
But thats the thing,it was realistic as the villains are corrupt politicians that real life counterparts in japan at the time.The only unrealistic thing was akumetsu himself,he represented the collective hidden wish of people against corrupt people.If anything i hated the clone thing and the "superhero origin story",it would've been cooler if we never learned the origin of akumetsu,i think turnig the story into half capeshit was a mistake and having some"faced villain" would've turned it into full capeshit.

For a purely emotional hit? This one. Never thought a manga with art as rough as MP100 could make me cry like a bitch, but that final panel is nothing short of perfect relief for the end of the story. can't wait for more people to recognize the series as a classic once the adaptation is finished.

I like both aspects of it. The "realistic wish-fulfillment" was great, and there's very little like it to be found, whereas the pseudo-capeshit lead to great, tense scenes like the school shootouts and the whole finale. The second half also had great scenes like the Yakuza counterargument, which was really cathartic to see for once.
I found Akumetsu to just be a really great series all-around.

The kiss is only on the last couple pages, it was framed by him wanting to make the last thing he sketched of the year Der Kuss (to form a bookend of Klimts with Danaë) and she only let him if he was in it too because it was a self-portrait of Klimt and his lover.

i woud have liked a final confrontation where shuu got to see the wrong in his path and get the punishment he deserved (death or something)
but i really liked how they potrayed the last fight as shuu being the villain, a one sided massacre where the only villain was our protagonist, this is the last fight we were promised, and is not epic or heroic, actually just sad
