what did you guys think? music was good but the art and animation looked a bit wonky at times. also the human designs are modernized but the monsters still have an old school look to them

Anime good
I'm watching backlog stuff and thought this was going to air later this year to be honest.
Way too early to say if it's really good or not. It can easily go either way.
I dropped it after the first episode.
This is begging for some corruption doujins
Absolute hot garbage.
interesting enough for me to keep watching it
It felt like one of those shitty chink shows we used to get, but at least it was marginally more interesting.
What’s the consensus on how they changed the design of the girl?
Why does the poster say "back on tv"? Is it a remake or sequel?
remake of some show from the 60's i think
The music was all over the place. The characters look like shit and the monsters look even worse. The blonde girl is hot tho
According to wiki, this is actually the second remake of the original.
The opening song is really good.
What the fuck was wrong with the concept of three non-humans traveling around doing good deeds in the hopes of becoming human that they had to add in this police girl and other people that I don't give a shit about following?
Needs more HAYAKU NINGEN NI NARITAI.
It's a pass for me. If I'm really bored, I might pick up the original because it seems unique.
Pretty good. But I'll take anything that isn't moeshit/pandering/isekai/shounen garbage at this point.
Why do they need to become humans if they already pass perfectly
holy shit nobody's talking about this anime
>three non-humans traveling around doing good deeds in the hopes of becoming human
That almost makes it sound like Dororo, which became repetitive and boring during its middle stretch. Adding more different character perspectives and faction conflict is one way to keep the concept fresh and/or generate new plot hooks.
um, sweaty, simply "passing" is NOT enough
>jazzy music everywhere
m'lady
I wish this adaption wasn’t so subpar because the concept is interesting. Also it’s sort of sad how far the three main’s designs were deviated from their previous versions just for the sake of appeal and sticking to modern conventionality
>cold-hearted elf redhead
this might be the most ignored waifu this season on Yea Forums
is this show being ignored because it's not an isekai or a game world and it's a unique setting?
wait why did she leave the key in the ignition to chase a pursesnatcher?
>wait why did she leave the key in the ignition to chase a pursesnatcher?
Because the screenwriting is genuinely shit, unfortunately
I made it 5 minutes in and the animation was so janky and awkward I couldn't continue
Because she comes from an upper district which is like heaven compared to the shithole she's in now.
>wait why did she leave the key in the ignition to chase a pursesnatcher?
Because she's a sheltered newbie from a safe district. The screenwriting is also pretty meh, but this was clearly on purpose.
elf-centric episode next
shes used to living in the world for upper class people where they don't have dirty thieving carjackers, so out of habit she left her key in
that's my take on it
Honestly, it wouldn't be so bad if the three of them actually had personalities or anything to give the voice actors something to work with other than "say this line while sounding bored and aloof."
Like, fuck. The voice actors in the original show had more to work with and went full ham with it, especially Bela.
it's 2019 , self deprecation and nihilism is hip with the kids nowadays, we can't have them having actual personalities now
>consensus
That you are a homosex.
Because their designs got "updated", but the plot didn't.
How about you don't try so hard to be a retard with your persecution complex and you lurk some more?
Maybe you'll figure out how those shift-keys work in the meantime.
shift keys and proper punctuation are for homosexuals, but i appreciate you trying to bump the thread or continue the discussion or whatever retarded thing you're post is
everyone's 2 cool 4 skool, i can see why nobody's talkin about this one
Yeah, 2019 for me to be desu.
Daamn. The old designs for the girl and the kid were awful. I can see why they would revamp them, but Range Murata's slick style seems like a mismatch for this show's mood.
Post vampire-chan pics or shut up.
They look so much more fun and goofy in the previous ones.
They upped the coolness of the hat dude and then everything of interest was just depleted from the two other ones to make them fuckable or whatever.
I get that the staff are trying to do different things with the original concept and that they wanted to “splice it up” and turn it into some edgy mystery or whatever, but I just don’t see the point when it seems like they’re not taking the effort to do anything actually special with this adaption. From the first episode it looked like your seasonal subpar edgy dark anime without any flair to it whatsoever, I’m only sticking around because the synopsis intrigues me and I need to get my edgy fix every once in a while
>The old designs for the girl and the kid were awful.
They're ugly, but that was the point.
It was a complete clusterfuck and none of the characters are even remotely interesting.
2006 looks like the most faithful "modern" design but good lord are they ugly
i prefer 2019 myself, feel free to call me a shitter i don't care
Waifu does not mean anime girl.
It does. Get on with the times stupid boomer.
The 2006 designs are good.
Why do you prefer these ones though
bem looks appealing, like a silver fox
bela is now a cute girl so that's self explanatory
belo now no longer looks like some kind of indian gremlin so again that's better in my opinion
I haven't watched it yet, but I decided to try it because I saw Maaya Sakamoto.
Look, I'm not gonna insult you or anything but I'm not gonna lie. I think making them sufficiently human looking and attractive is bad character design, especially considering their end goal.
and i agree with you on that front
in the original do they fulfill their goal or not?
1968: Dopey as fuck
1982: Best designs, but too human to be yokai
2006: DeviantArt donutsteel
2017: A Fallen London character, a bad self-portrait of an internet dominatrix and a Gaia avatar
2019: Good designs, but for the wrong show
>The first episode of a series is usually one of the better animated episodes in it.
>That jerky QUALITY break dancing in the first 3 minutes.
>Jazz
Instant Kino, i'm only gonna watch this for the jazz
Gonna watch. Gave me Gargoyles vibes for some reason.
>Maaya Sakamoto is the villian
>sings the OP too
iirc, it was reduced to 26 episodes and cancelled.
My only real complaint is that they seemed to have aged Bela down for whatever reason? Unless I'm mistaking how old she's supposed to look.
ah rip
i doubt this will be a "complete" project then
The OP shows her doing what looks like attending school.
Knowing the history of the series now this definitely feels like a very odd mismatch in styles. Kinda like Casshern to Casshern Sins.
Still I ended up liking Sins so maybe this'll rise above the storm.
Isnt this based on an older anime series? Like really old?
see from 1968
I'm not so sure about it. I like the sort of crooked cop noir in a dirty city setting and I kinda liked the music. It should be right up my alley, but the animation and quality in general seem to be pretty bad so far and it has not managed to get me to really care about any of the characters or make me interested in what would happen next, largely because it hasn't really set up any overarching plot and as such caring about the next episode relies on the characters, who still feel pretty weak. Monster designs weren't that great either, the water faggot was pretty terrible and overall very annoying. Almost felt like a waste of time, an annoying 1-episode villain who is evil simply because he's an evil lunatic. I guess they needed him to show the Bem/Belo/Bela are good guys, but I wish they had done it differently.
Might give it another episode or two to see if it becomes more engaging. I don't want to start any shit, but as far as hard-boiled cop shows go I feel like Cop Craft did a much better job with its first episode, at least I'll watch that if this one disappoints, though I'm not even sure it's supposed to be cop-focused or the 3 non-humans are the central characters.
inb4 headphones betrays his comrades
Oh shit
It's ehhhh so far. Not really good but not terrible either at this point. The monster transformation was kind of shitty. I'll keep watching though, the concept seems enjoyable enough.
>chink shows we used to get
It reminds me of all those early digital urban action anime from the 2000s if that's what you meant. Gonzo made a lot of em.
Anyway I webm'd the retarded dance dudes.
>retarded dance dudes.
Turns out water dude was the good guy all along.
Like the setting, too bad this is going to be monster of the week.
I have already seen the original so I'm not really interested
especially because with character design like this
>I want to be human
makes little sense
After watching this I saw the 2006 one and liked it better.
If anything just watch it for the fun QUALITY fest it will be.
I want to watch it because Bela looks hot but the monster was so bad I can't justify another episode
