Very well, but I would argue that Rei I + Rei II = Rei III. Since unit 00 was destroyed, Rei I's soul was freed and combined with Rei II's soul.

Gendo's plan was Lilith's body, Adam's body, with Rei acting as his control merging them together.

For whatever reason, Gendo and SEELE could not start 3rd Impact until all of Adam's angels were destroyed or they would interfere in some way.

The problem with Rei 1 is that she's openly sadistic and way too young. It's like Lilith's soul trying to interpret being human after billions of years spent chilling in whatever higher plane she usually resides.

Because the only people who could pilot the evas, Shinji and Asuka were 14 at the time the angels attacked. Their mothers set things up like that on purpose.

That's the thing, he won't. I can guarantee you that. It's not only implausible, it's also against Shinji's character. Shinji's core problem as defined by EoE is that he doesn't love himself anf therefore is chronically unable to love other people or allow other people to love him. For a person with this kind of complex it will set off all kinds of alarm bells i his head if somebody out of the blue blurts out they "love them". I have similar issues and would never believe it in shinji's place, I'd only grow suspicious. People with insecurities like Shinji have an extremely hard time believeing somebody could actually love them. The more you tell them how much you love them the move distrustful they become of you. Shinji is continuously showed to be self sabotaging in this way, so why would make an exception for Kaworu's when he's defined by inability to accept being loved? It doesn't make any sense. It makes more sense to assume Shinji was extremely horny and he wanted sexual release but he misunderstood Kaworu's love as romantic/sexual.

I just don't think that the two way arrow is a good way to symbolize their relationship when they both clearly want completely different things out of it, and one wants her 'thing' explicitly more than the other party. Then again I don't know another way to symbolize it visually in an easy to digest way so it's pretty much semantics at this point, but I still feel a one way arrow gets that point across a bit better. Years ago, fresh after reading the manga, I put together a timeline that somehow worked the manga into the timeline (because of the whole cycle thing) and came to the conclusion that the final scene of EoE is actually going to be the final scene of the Rebuild and not part of the Neon Genesis timeline.

Lost that macro though and it's been so long I forgot the details. It made perfect sense at the time, I even posted it on here in here like 2014.

Mari is a character who serves no purpose whatsoever but is for some reason thrust into a role that's been thus reserved for central characters who are integral to both the plot and emotional core of the show. In other words she's Eva's first ever pure fanservice Eva pilot. When Toji was chosen as the Fourth Children he was already developed and involved with Shinji so the emotional groundwork was laid out thoroughly, but with Mari there's just nothing. Why is she even there? It's weird for Evangelion to have this sort of character. The TV series despite its format did not waste a minute on a character who brought nothing to the story. These are movies with a limited runtime, and yet they allow themselves for such waste of time.

Quantum Rei is what Shinji first sees when he wakes up at the beach and what he sees on episode 1 when he's on the phone. Quantum Rei might or might not be the one interfering with Shinji's mind on those train scenes.

I don't think any of this affects a character being a Stu when the author's clearly defined intent was to make a Stu. Shinji is Anno's literal self insert and Kaworu is an idealized version of Shinji.

Those bases/cities only exist in the Rebuild movies. Tokyo 3 was the only fortress city in NGE. Every other NERV facilities were research/construction only. For example North American NERV consisted of Area 51 and the MIT campus in Boston.

Everything "unbelievable" in Eva is perfectly logical in that it follows the series' rules for what is essentially magic. The Angels can do unbelievable and bizzare things and it's *fine* because they have Alien Space Jesus Magic, they are not Human beings with the same history and resources as we do. Point out one thing built by Humans in the original series that is this unrealistic
