You´re propably right.My last rewatch was long ago. But if i remember correctly Yoshi kind of wanted to give civilization another chance by changing the power structure through war.
He wanted to stop the decay at any cost.
Kano never had a shot since they´re dependent on the tower and couldnt leave the underground.

You might be right. Yoshii doesnt even know what his objective is going down to lukus umtil after sometime being there he says "i now know what my mission is". That could either mean he saw the potential down there to stop human extinction or that he just wanted to shake things up and have some fun opposed to his boring life up top. I dunno

I meant all the heroes as in onishi as well. Onishi's whole deal was to preserve the peace in lukus which wasnt really helping anyone as it just caused stagnation and further contributed to extinction

It's not like Kano's motivation is any better. He literally killed off any chance humanity had left to survive because of his insanity.

thats not true, kano realised the only way to prevent extinction and continue was to fundamentally cast aside your humanity. Thats why all the shapes were rooted to the ground at the end of the series, showing that they are going to be reincarnated
