The japanese audience hated it, Kurumada hated it and the movie bombed. As a result the entire SS staff was fired, the budget of the Hades OVAs were cut in half and the franchise went to shit after the great 2002 revival.

I admit I only watched casually and only watched the OG series so I'm confused. Seiya being cursed, the gold saints being damned, and the Greek pantheon being pissed cuz Athena and her knights basically stormed into the afterlife to take down the lord of the underworld were all set up at the end of the Hades arc. What happens after since the Heaven movie is non-canon? It's the most natural place for the story to go, do any of the spinoffs even have stakes as high as that?

For someone who hated it he sure seems to be borrowing quite a bit of it for Next Dimension
