Even the plot seems awfully similar to LL S1, complete with the student council member not liking their activities but eventually joining them anyway. The main difference is that in Love Live the MC wanted to be an idol and was the proactive one, while here the MC was asked to join and she didn't want to be an idol at first.

The OP animation is still far better than the likes of Haduki's, Hachigatsu's or ImoImo's OP, so I wouldn't write it off based on that. Using CG is probably unavoidable for any non-big name idol show that wants to have regular dance scenes in the year 2019 of the Lord. But if the first two episodes were pre-screened that can be a bit of a red flag, I guess we'll see the true production value starting next episode then.

It's very easy to tell whether a T7S anime will be a success or a flop. It will be successful if they make this girl the MC. It will flop if they don't. If the focus is instead on 7th Sisters, 777 Sisters or even AXiS, the anime will fail, simply because the focus isn't on her. I mean, I guess grammatically I can understand why Jennifer Challenger might think the subclause is 柊かえの器材の / 使用許可, but contextually it should be obvious to anyone that it's actually 柊かえの / 器材の使用許可. It baffles me how this woman still has a job when she has continued to make such simple mistakes for years, totally botching the translations for numerous shows like Bahamut, Hakumei to Mikochi, Shobitch, and Revue Starlight.

There are still ones I'd rewatch. I know I'll never go back to things like Hachigatsu or Pasumemo but I'll definitely be rewatching things like ImoImo and Million Arthur.
Low animation quality doesn't get in the way of the series being fun. Tesagure had 2 episodes back to back that barely had any new animation and they were still really fun.
Even if the animation for this show goes downhill, fun characters and yuri should be enough to still enjoy it.

I've not read the source so I'm not sure how much can be blamed on that but there was a significant drop between seasons, and how sudden it was suggested it could be something beyond the source. Replacing Oota doesn't seem like an easy task.
At least with this show it's already had more good episodes than Minami-ke S2 so I feel it'll be safe even if the quality drops now.

And emotional, and dramatic. The nicest thing about PriPara is that it can make you cry almost as easily as it can make you laugh. The worst thing about PriPara is that it sets the bar too high so all the other idol shows may feel bland in comparison.
