I don't get it

Episode 4 I dropped this because I don't think I've ever been disappointed by a show this much. I was a NEET for 1-2 years, but a show being "relatable" isn't enough for me to enjoy it. Is that the only reason why this is so popular? Because it's relatable?

Aren't the manga and novel better?
I am planning of reading the novel instead of wasting time with the anime

The show had all direct references to Jews and Zionist conspiracies removed or replaced. That sort of ruined it.

it's actually meant for non-NEET's to enjoy

The novel is not better except for the two afterwords.

Them Yoshi ABe's illustrations make it more based though

Before I became a NEET, I thought it was purely comedy and drama.
A few years down the line I realized it was the author's thought experiment of a sad reality.

this. I watched it in high school and found it hilarious, but after watching it last, I understood the serious undertones a lot more. great show with dueling moods

Retard, you're not supposed to enjoy it

Depending on where you personally are in life the anime is either meant to be a cynical, almost horrific story showing you how deeply you can fall or a brutal but ultimately optimistic tale telling you that you can recover regardless of how bad you are at the moment.

The part where he literally gets into 3DPD child pornography is a bit wtf but apparently identifiable to this board's denizens

The novel is more grounded and therefore better in my eyes, what with it not having filler stories like the internet suicide cult and the pyramid scheme, and making the side characters out to have more problems than they do in the anime. The anime provides more of an "escapist" point of view

I read the manga for the second time few days ago and it's an incoherent mess. The novel is pretty much the same thing as anime, but with less content and less censoring. The anime has quite a lot of QUALITY thanks to Gonzo, but otherwise it's a pretty good adaptation with nicely picked seiyuu and great OST.

>you can recover
or rather you can become a wageslave with a dead end job if you don't want to starve

I nearly dropped it when that stupid whore actually went on a date with the MC halway through. But I didn't and it got better.

I really liked how in the end it turns out that the only real way to deal with hikkis is to leave them to either get a job or starve and none of that romance friendship philosophy shit matters

Well that's the reality of life. I will be a NEET as long as I can, life doesn't get better than that.

I thought that was dumb. I mean any problem can be "solved" by letting someone starve. There was an user who said this show is government propaganda, and maybe they're right.

Honesty I got to like Episode 4, and things just seemed SO LAME...So dull. Comedy SoLs and the like are my favorite genre, yet I just couldn't get into this, which is sad because I know there a lot of people who worked on it that have been involved in many other projects of which I've loved.

More specifically his body reacted to the actual event of hunger, and not any hypothetical or forseen potentiality of it, no matter how plausible or reasonable. This was also the case for that guy who was playing that MMO all day. The story never makes the case that a NEET can just decide themselves out of NEETdom through sheer free will or foresight.

> I was a NEET for 1-2 years
And no one told OP to fuck off. State of the board, yada yada…

>implying NEETdom is not often caused by latent mental issues
>implying hunger solves anything
Boy should you learn about this dude.

tough it out until episode 6, trust me

I've been going between trying real hard at education/work and being a complete shut-in for over 10 years now. I've gone up to 14 days without eating and when losing my apartment I would rather roam the streets than do anything about it. It's what a lazy person deserves after all

manga was good. anime is an example of GONZO's lack of skill.
