Well I enjoyed S1 but yeah I thought it was a trashy fantasy RPG anime but since then the surge of shitty isekai and shitty adaptions of isekai has lowered the bar for fantasy anime so much that DanMachi seems so high quality in comparison. Not even only the story and characters (which aren't even very good) but the production and direction and animation and everything. Even though they are what should be standard, isekai is SO fucking bad it is making DanMachi look like a masterpiece.

What was Apollo's problem?

The only way to pick up new members who aren't level 1 scrubs is to grab the survivors of a familia that has disbanded or lost its deity. But Apollo Familia stragglers were driven away by debt and Ishtar Familia members would be blocked by jealous cunts like Lili and Hestia, so the only way they could get decent new members is if somebody assassinates Loki or if they somehow track down Astraea and get Ryu transferred

S1 was a fucking blast, fuck you. Minotaur fight was one of the best fight scenes of that season, if not year.

The memebers help each other all the time, examples being the t-rex egg raid, and mikoto goes back to her familia to chat all the time, so it reasonable to think she gives a portion of her cut to them. They are more or less one combined familia, just seperated in name due to guild rules

Hestia alone is enough to carry the show, Bell is also a likable MC unlike let's say Subaru.

If you want to play the Argonaut story, it ends on the 30th this month. You should start.
I started like 3 days ago and beat that story yesterday on VD. It doesn't take long, but I did invest some time.

Bell right after advancing to level 4 was as strong as high-tier level 4s.
With current stats he should be able to fight on par with weaker level 5s.
After next level-up (which he's already eligible for) he will be a top-tier level 5.

Meanwhile all his regular expedition members are level 2, level 3 at best. Now that's some great party balance.

The main issue with her level up is that the user isn't used to it. Remember the Moss Huge fight? It took Bell a long time to get used to his new level and his body and mind to be in sync.

I don't think we're given the exact details, just that it is self-sacrificial in nature. Probably as a result of her habit to go kamikaze to take out enemies so everyone else can move on.

I do understand Hestia not wanting her to use that kind of skill. But limiting her options when in a life or death situation (which is almost every volume), isn't good either. It's another one of those cases where Hestia thinks she's doing a good thing, but her good intentions will lead to something getting screwed up later.

She can't because her magic only lets her copy other elves' magic. And it has some significant drawgbacks with it too.

Though it's not like Welf or Lili are even supposed to be useful outside of support roles.

Oh for fucks sake really? One of the main complaints people have with Sword Oratoria is the fact that it doesn't tie into the main story as cleanly as it could. So a scene like that in volume 7, then showcasing the context of the Loki girls being there in SO, would have helped address that issue a bit.

I agree, the pacing does seem to have been pretty off mainstory wise post volume 7 in my opinion. I do want to see Sword Oratoria continue in the future. Since it's great to get more world-building, lore, and the more big scale conflicts. But Bell's story really needs to have a clear direction at this point, because at the moment it still feels a bit "problem of the weekish" if you know what I mean.

Well there was an interview with an editor that made the rounds at one point. That was complaining about how some Light Novel series are basically entirely written by the editors because the actual authors were amateur who didn't know what they were doing. Or straight up weren't motivated to write anymore.

But obviously that was only one guys perspective and experience. So we're still mostly in the dark on this stuff. While some editors are clearly douchebags (like the one Omari seems to have), some authors really appreciate their editors reigning in some of their more ridiculous ideas.

From my experience with how it works in Western publishers. Editors work more as person you pitch your ideas to, and get feedback on. Because an author just absorbed into his own head without outside perspective can turn out some really bad shit. Rather than just looking for typos and the like.
