There were no villains killing and beating his friends and son half to death.
There was no villain that killed hundreds of innocent people, his rival, and his best friend right in front of him.
The only time you see him act like in Super is when they had to fight Cell, which showed him be selfish.
And the only time you see him act like in Z in Super, is when he finds out that Black Goku killed his family.
