Based

Name one. Hard mode: don't mention violence-focused anime.

True.

I enjoyed panty and stocking dubbed more than subbed

Ranma 1/2

I dunno OP makes some good points.

For you. I love listening to Japanese

>a well produced dub
>well produced
Yeah and Emma Watson sucking my dick can also enhance the experience of watching anime, but that never happens either.

I still prefer Cowboy Bepop's English dub to it's Japanese version after going through the series 3 different times.

Absolutely. I enjoyed the bits and pieces I saw of the Shield-Hero and Konosuba dubs.
There's definitely something to be said about being able to hear something in your native language, but that being said, 99 times out of 100, I do prefer the subtitled version.

Hahaha I forgotten how the dub for this was a bunch of fucks just fucking around

Perfect example.

Haruhi

Attached: original.gif (500x250, 462K)

no, it's always better to experience something in the original language. that said, it's possible to make a good dub, just not one that's better than the original

Some dub voices are really good. Such as Evangelion's asuka voice, Naruto's Madara voice (or just any character with a deep voice in general), DBZ voices and soundtrack in general.
At the same time there are certain anime that are clearly better subbed, such as Konosuba

Unless the dub is especially bad I usually prefer it

That's because either you're a newfag or a retard with learning disability who hasn't picked up how to understand Japanese despite listening to it every fucking day.

Nigger, I'm 32 years old and I was watching anime before you even knew your ABC's. Cowboy Bepop's dub is both better directed and more thematically relevant than it's original dub in just about every way. I'm sure Watanabe himself would agree with that considering how much of a westaboo he is.

If you mean it does so by giving you an excuse to watch it again, hell yes.

I greatly enjoyed the dub for Panty & Stocking, even if it did lose the engrish.

Kill yourself.

How were dubs ever financially justified? Who the hell is the audience? I don't think even Reddit likes dubs. I don't know what other anime community exists.
Are dubs even made anymore?

Pokemon
Yu Gi Oh
Dragonball Z

Kill la kills dub was pretty good too

Same can be said for subs to a lesser extent

The Jap-only people are the most horribly autistic and elitist crowd that exists. Just because you aren't fluent in the language you are assuming that all the Japanese actors are super-talented geniuses and not completely average/bad.

English voices have more range, more character, and are more easily understood by an english-speaking person. Unlike in the past where dubs were made by in-house studios, modern dubs usually involve professional voice actors with years of training.

yes
hell no
hell yes. Anything is better than grandma Goku.

I like watching dubs for Toonami shows because my brother and sister would watch them with me and it reminds me of a time where I wasn't alone.
I don't mind a normal dub if it's not shit. Most of them are shit.
I still get PTSD of the god-awful Chuunibyou dub

Attached: consider dekomori.png (1145x674, 397K)

lol

Ehh, I wouldn't give the English dubs that much support, they tend to butcher a lot of scenes and characters

Now Latin dubs my fella, those are some good shit, surpassing the original chink screech

Attached: {0o0}(07).png (640x719, 387K)

True, but unfortunately the vast majority of dubs are uninspired shit

The vast majority of anime are uninspired shit.

The vast majority of most things are uninspired shit.

Nigga I watch everything in the original language it's been produced in. So you know shit like Space Dandy I have no qualms watching dubbed or subbed.

Like what the fuck of course I'm going to watch a european movie in its original dub. Why the fuck would I not?

I like the Shin Chan dub with happiness bunny calling that girl retarded and he's the same VA as Shinichi Kudo.

Konosuba

Are we talking American English or other languages too?
French dubs are far better than American dubs. Any feature, any era - as an example (I'm American). Even American cartoons are better voice acted than American dubbed anime. I don't know what the deal is (nor do I care to know really) - but American dub VA talent is just cancer. Half of them are just fat SJW's pretending to be adolescent boys anyway.

Current dubs, yes.
Older dubs, no.

>Jewish subversion at work
Execute this fucking heretic. Right fucking now.

Maybe theoretically, but it doesn't usually happen.

However I might still watch the sub ver when I'm eating certain foods so I can still fallow the story even when on not looking at the screen

Ouran HIghschool Host Club

English anime dubs are made with people who are willing to work with peanut budgets (just like niche JRPGs) because the voice acting industry in west is ruled by money.

That's not the case in Japan where you can hear any seiyuu in any kind of media because they regulate their wages and literally everything is centered in Tokyo.

>because the voice acting industry in west is ruled by money.
As opposed to the industry in the east, which is...also ruled by money.
The fuck?

>A well produced dub can enhance the experience of watching anime.
Yes. The well made original Japanese dub certainly can.

So can a well made English one.

Why?

Because all Japs sound the same.

Attached: 1562970818355.jpg (1920x2160, 502K)

Why do you guys act like Japs watch English cartoons with Japanese subtitles if there's a Japanese dub available?

OP, you either troll like poop or you're a retardo.
Either way, go end your life.

who cares what they do

They have a huge voice acting scene compared to the west.

Attached: 1555502291572.jpg (950x534, 324K)

True.

Attached: I like dubs.jpg (1280x800, 166K)

Ghost Stories. That's not really fair though.

Fate/Stay Night UBW had an excellent dub and I don't watch it subbed anymore as a result.

Now that I think of it I wonder if their Dubs are better then our originals.

Panty & Stocking

Probably not for Disney/Pixar stuff, maybe for shows with literally whos voice acting in the US

Again with the Watanabe prefers the eng dub myth? Can dubfags stop peddling that false narrative.

Hayao Miyazaki prefers the french dub of Porco Rosso over native japanese.

>modern dubs usually involve professional voice actors with years of training.
>terrible voice acting
>meme spouting
>PATRIARCHISM
Liking some old dubs due to nostalgia is one thing, defending modern shit is something only braindead dubfags do.

>The Jap-only people are the most horribly autistic and elitist crowd that exists.
You are on Yea Forums, famous for being elitist and telling people like you to kill yourself while actually meaning it. If you don't like it then you are free to get the fuck out of here.

>Now Latin dubs my fella, those are some good shit, surpassing the original chink screech
You just have shit taste. Goku's original voice is great.

Sounds like english mixed with arabic or irish.

just sounds like a stereotypical Japanese who can't speak English
... that was the point, wasn't it

this could not be more wrong. Japanese VA industry actually has standards, unlike in the west, where its mostly treated as "dont try, its just some shit for kids" (for translations also)

Shin-chan

>that pic
Is this artist even aware that one of his pics is used as banner for this site?

Miyazaki has a lot of wrong opinions.

American female voice actresses all sound fucking grotesque for some reason so that disqualifies pretty much everything. The only English dub I've ever enjoyed is the one for Cromartie.

Imagine thinking like this. What an absoulte retard

space dandy

>when Integra says search and destroy
K-kino

Space Dandy.

thx for the recs guise ^-^
its so hard to get a good rec thread going on this board;)

>Anything is better than grandma Goku.
cringe go away with your shemale voice actor

>I'm 32 years old
lol you think anime started in the 90s?
dub, particularly english dub is by miles the worst because you only see anglo defend it and no one from other countries defend their dub like you do because a true fan love and praise the original work unlike you

someone post the dragon maid "muh patriarchy" image

I watch American cartoons with Japanese dubs with English subtitles.

Initial D

Maybe if they were done in my native language.
I can't deal with the strong American accents in English dubs, it sounds so dumb.

Honestly, anything with J. Michael Tatum, i.e. Steins;Gate, Spice and Wolf, I would say Baccano! but you said no violence. He's a great voice actor and you can tell how much time and effort he puts into his roles.

>Probably not for Disney
i watched on youtube some Frozen scene and its like an anime, way better than the original monotone voices

is there any british dub anime, the only one i know is Alita ova

british dubs sound great
any clips of them?

youtube.com/watch?v=XtI9xn5Au30

this is actually a really good dub

>cringe
>tasteless

If you're a fujo, I'm a chad.

a shame they didnt cast a TRUE british girl to voice Zelda in BOW

Japanese sounds better than English

we all know that

Yeah, on opposite day. Hahahaha

Hue. it can be hit or miss but most stuff still early 00s were somewhat consistent because we used to get anime directly from japan rather than use merican script.

Thanks 4kids....

Excel saga, city hunter, hokuto no ken, hagane no renkinjutsushi all in french of course

didnt you get the spanish or french instead of the japanese source?

>hokuto no ken
you mean Hokuto de cuisine and Nanto de vison mon ami

Nope directly from nippon.

Some stuff still are provided by companies like bandai with DBZ and saint seiya.

True, but it's layers of obfuscation. If you know even a little Japanese, you can tell when subs are fucking up the translation, or at least have an idea of what was really said and think about the reason the subbers picked that particular phrase- probably because it sounds better in english or is more understandable to westerners.

You can't do that with the dub, you just have to hear what the dubbers want you to hear and can't verify that unless you watch a sub or raw.

youtube.com/watch?v=cOenSWO6BBU

Le nanto de fourrure.

Attached: déjà mort.jpg (344x250, 30K)

st seiya was from the french for sure because it was them that name it "chevalier du zodiaque" and every dub use this name

Kimengumi was the best with la bande des joyeux loufoque

Attached: CFFF-IALU.png (778x308, 75K)

The only difference between English dubbing of anime and Nip dubbing of Western cartoons is that the seiyuu who dub western cartoons are the same people who do anime (e.g. Sawashiro as Star Butterfly, etc.). You'll never see Tara Strong or Roger Bumpass doing voice work for anime.

>You'll never see Tara Strong or Roger Bumpass doing voice work for anime.
why, do they ask too much money?

I worked with a woman once who, when viewing a subtitled video, had to quickly read each subtitle out loud as they went by. She evidently couldn't process the words by eye alone.

I figure most dubfags are that level of brainlet.

Attached: 1563119187588.jpg (250x236, 7K)

*Kana Ueda as Star butterfly
Sawashiro is Twilight Sparkle

>dub's scriptwriter is also the protagonist's VA

Truly based

Attached: Desert_Punk.jpg (550x412, 37K)

Nigger, what the fuck are you doing?

the more electronic fennec sounds the better

Fpbp, a dub can only ever be a shittier version of the original.

>english is the original language of a japanese work

Attached: SP guide.png (1140x1800, 2.79M)

Mexican anime dubs were awesome on the 90's to the point they dubbed not only the OP and the EN but also tried their best with the dub by itself i wanna say dragon ball as an example but i rather mention a better example like Sakura cardcaptor OP or Koni chan dubs

Hellsing does it right

A good dub is theoretically the best experience. You fully understand the nuances of the language and are free to actually look at the screen rather than watch subtitles.
In practice this is essentially impossible. There are already elements lost when you subtitle in another language, and this only happens more with dubs that have to care about timing and stuff. While a professional translator that actually does their job will get 95% of stuff across, most dubs both don't have amazing translators and can't fully express good translations within the constraints of the dialogue. Plus, if you watched the sub first, the dub has to fight a massive and frankly unfair uphill battle since people will naturally prefer what they saw first and their perception of the dialogue is half what they hear, half their internal monologue from the subs.
That said, I think dub can reach a "good enough" level where they're at least enjoyable and a decent way to experience the property. I wouldn't call the Konosuba or Kill la Kill dubs explicitly better than the originals, but I enjoy watching them regardless.
