the problem with trigger is that everything they do gets compared to the LWA ova and they set the bar way to high for themselves with that.

Yeah he's a great animator. He joined Trigger a bit before Gridman. I think that guy's just mad because Bahi's Austrian and therefore not glorious Nippon animator.

There's no backing that up. That's just his subjective opinion. Bahi's animating in ways people haven't before on top of being very techinically skilled, and getting deserved recognition for it. Autists just hate change.

Or they could've just, you know, written a good show instead of trying to make LWA a tired rehash of Kill la Kill. Everyone wanted a slice of life Harry Potter anime with a strong cast of friends, not that stupid 7 magic words stealing magic essences plot line. The episode inside Suzy's mind is the only great one exactly because it has nothing to do with any cliched epic animu garbage.

Better animation does not lead to better stories. In fact I'd be willing to bet that long term the opposite will be true, with better animation leading to shittier spectacles with the story an afterthought. We already see that with Hollywood movies and CGI.

Just one idiot saying that, me. Point taken, I was misinformed. I'm not saying it's the case now, but animators can be more associated with a particular studio while technically being freelance. Which is what I thought might happen with Bahi but we'll see.

The reason I thought he was Trigger was when Takafumi Hori left people were saying it like 'Trigger lost Hori, but gained Bahi', but really it was just Bahi working freelance on Gridman.

Progress is clearly happening. It's not animated on cells anymore. Tons of shit's changed because of that. CG is being used a lot more and they're learning to actually integrate it well (even if I prefer 2d). With technological changes come changes in how people animate, and not only in the tools they use to do so. Also trends are always changing.

You raise an interesting point. I think the awkward way CG looks in today's anime is kind of similar to how awkward digitally drawn anime looked in the early 2000s. Animators were still used to drawing on cells, so it took a while for the industry to catch up and for digitally drawn anime to start looking good. I think the same thing will happen with CG eventually.

They do change, I'm not saying every change is a drastic one. Fantasy is a genre that won't ever die. The differences in the fantasy you cited to modern issekai is proof of changing trends, however slight that may be. Also that kind of shit is clearly the incestuous shit that someone like me wants less of, so it's a weird example for you to pick. Remember how I said anime is filled with too much of the same shit? Even the 'same shit' changes over time. You seem to be conflating genres with trends.
