Just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion and The End of Evangelion

Just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion and The End of Evangelion.
I-I don't know what to feel right now... I've read explanations for the series and film but I'm still really unsatisfied. Am I missing something or is NGE that confusing?

You're making a daily thread for an ongoing discussion of 24 years.
Buckle up, Anno fanboys believe a frame of a newspaper article in kanji that was shown for 1/24th of a second counts as an explanation.

It's confusing.
Many details are poorly explained or only touched upon with explanation at all.
But rejoice, people have been analyzing Eva for 20 years.
There really is no way around some wiki research if you want to know and understand all you could.

Is this the new Sakura fish?

Thanks, but if so many details are left poorly explained and leaves many watchers scratching their heads, why is this series considered a classic?

>I-I don't know what to feel right now...
Disgusting. You are supposed to feel disgusting.

Because of the timeless animation, music and characters

EoE sucked

>why is this series considered a classic?
It saved anime, basically. It caused a huge movement in the medium at a time when it was considered to be close to dying.

eat a bullet

>so many details are left poorly explained and leaves many watchers scratching their heads, why is this series considered a classic

That’s exactly one of many reasons it’s a classic. The intrigue of deciphering the plot/lore/themes/symbolism makes it a great rewatch because there are always new pieces to pick up, unless you want everything immediately explained for you by a wiki dive after the series ends, which even then is only one or several persons’ opinion. Every piece of media does not need to be clearly explained and interpreted for the viewer. The use of ambiguity itself is integral to a main theme of the series in that each person sees the world from a different perspective that makes them an individualized personality, yet also makes communication imperfect and sometimes painfully difficult.

You are approaching it in the wrong way.
Everything that needs to be explained is clearly explained in the series itself. Anything else is just stage setting.

EoE is the greatest pleb filter on this board.

>spoonfeed me
Use your brain. If it really didn't make sense to you, try watching it again. The plot's all there, and there's personal (thematic) meaning to extrapolate from it.

TV end sucked.

mods could pin a thread explaining eva

No, it's just a bad anime.

Same. Just finished the series and movie. It's my favorite anime now. Kind of scared to watch the rebuild movies though due to all the mixed reactions. I waited like 10 years to watch this and can't believe I wasted all that time ignoring it.

Rebuilds are good and seperate from the show

They're bad and separate - until the plot twist of 3.0+1.0 where they aren't separate.

rebuilds are OK-ish, at best

If you dont want to get spoiled dont read this but isn't the ending of neon genesis evangelion shinji being the only living person left alive and forced to live an eternity this way? I remember someone in the show saying something about someone having to live forever because of the evas. Rei might still be there because it wasn't shown directly that she was killed. Im going by the end of the end of evangelion

What are you referring to

Evageeks, classified information

Are there any rule 34 images of Yui?

Reminder that nobody in this thread just finished Evangelion.

ikari_yui

You do know the definition of rule 34, right?
This is a redundant question.

I thought evangelion would have better threads on here lol

Its a 25 year old show that gets threads almost all the time, so most of the stuff posted has been regurgitated ad nauseum.

And this board collectively dislikes the Rebuilds, so there are barely any threads that pop up regarding speculation for 4.0 (or 3.0+1.0, stupid title). The 10 minute preview was just a week ago and this board's interest already mostly died off.

puchimas doesn't have rule 34 images of its characters.

Friendly reminder that nobody in this thread just finished Eva for the first time.

Not OP but I did AMA

Also not OP literally finished EoE 20 minutes ago
Fucking lol at the original series ending compared to EoE

Is is really so hard to believe that young people that can't even torrent or XDCC are being exposed to Evangelion for the first time?

A damn shame desu, instead of being properly explained things they're been exposed to dumb Asukafag delusions.

We saved the world you guys!

wrong faggot

good explanations ITT

It's pretty straightforward, but poorly explained because Anno is bit of a hack. Keep in mind killing everyone was a fad in anime and especially mecha anime for some time, it's not some special ending carrying a message, it's a common way to end you story so people won't ask for continuation.

>scrolling down
>read X, Y, W and Z
T-thanks.

Not the point of Eva user

whats the deal with the angels why is the more show up the more intelligent/abstract/powerful they become?

They are the children of Adam, just as humans are the children of Lilith.
They have the fruit of life, humans have the fruit of wisdom.

So before shinjis dad shoots that scientist lady he says something to her and she calls him a liar before getting btfo. what did he tell her?

"I need you"
Baka

what's hte deal with gendo's hand having an eye in it? Why did that eva go berserk and try to punch him through the glass

that was ADAM's embryonic form that Kaji delivered to gendo earlier in the series, he puts it there because he wants to combine Adams body with Lilliths soul (Rei)

Adam causes second impact when they awaken him in antarctica which is known as second impact. Somehow they got him under control and he reverted to a dormant state again

Kinda relevant, I guess: regarding Seele. Did Seele knew about "Adam" actually being Lilith and real Adam in Ikari's posession (if they did, did they just omit this little fact from Kaworu, because they wanted him to go there to be destroyed by Shinji)? Also, what was their endgame? I mean, yeah, I know, the Instrumentality, but how did they want to do it? How exactly did Ikari's and Seele's plan differ? Did most of EOE go exactly the way they wanted it to go? (With a minor setback being Ikari plotting to take control of Lilith, but she rejected him anyway, so no big deal.) Also, why will they "not stay quiet" about Unit-01 going berserk in the Zeruel episode? Also, what was the deal with the Lance of Longinus? Did Seele know they picked it from Antarctica and put it in Lilith? (Well, Ikari and Fuyutsuki went there on UN ships, so I guess they knew.) Anyway, why did Ikari want it out of the picture? If both Ikari's and Seele's Instrumentality plan was for the Lilith to generate the massive anti-AT field, they both should've wanted the Lance out of her, so that she could regenerate, right?
Every year I think I understand this series less.

I think maybe Ikari's instrumentality was going to be a lot different, and not involve consuming all the human souls, just bringing Yui back. The lance was necessary for SEELE's final plan.

Friendly reminder that nobody in this thread JUST watched Eva for the first time.

>The lance was necessary for SEELE's final plan.
They got it anyway. It just flew down from the Moon. But the Lance not being needed for Ikari's Instrumentality might actually make sense.
