Ability shortens a character's lifespan
For every second that you read Yea Forums, your remaining life span will be reduced by one second.
Yea Forums is fucking deadly. I've already lost over a decade.
No bigger meme than this.
>character can sense 'murderous intent'
>Character uses "that" technique despite everyone warning him not to
>He gets hemorrhoids for the rest of the series
>this technique will kill you, no exceptions
>no one ever dies from using it
>character actually gets fucked up using it, and stays that way through the rest of the manga
What about an attack that shortens the anime's running time?
>a tranny heals him
This consequence in itself is not the problem, it's that you rarely ever see it carried out fully. Characters either get bailed out or the series simply ends before you see the effects.
>they find out it will kill him if he keeps using it
>they use it one last time
>actually dies afterwards despite the efforts to save his life
I can't fucking watch new anime. There is always some way to save character. They are NEVER in danger. Lost a limb? Relax, bud, there are billions of healers. Died? Heh, just use a spell. And don't fucking start using science for this bullshit. They never raise the stakes, lose something significant or learn to live with feeling that you can't reverse what already happened.
Name a series where a character died due to shortened lifespan from using a forbidden technique.
>Character is getting fucked up
>Villain starts monologing
>Character takes a deep breath, closes eyes, thinks of friends
>Suddenly uses a megadeath attack
AAAAAAAA FUCK YOUR CLICHE SECRET FRIENDSHIP POWER BULLSHIT
I don't like it anymore.
zenzou did nothing wrong
Aki x Suffering
Neuro is pretty much the only one like that among the manga I remember
Kengan Asura
Welcome in SnK world, where the only powerup literally shorten your life span to the next 13 years, in addiction you will became a cool giant beast with superpowers(or super streght) after hurting yourself.
Trigun (maximum)
The Sacred Blacksmith
>use powerful ability that shortens your lifespan but also give regeneration power
>manage to die before your time's up anyway
mikami from death note
Somehow this thread got pretty sad.
This is literally a thing though. It's a basic instinct of pretty much every emotive species.
Probably one of the very few logistic "instinctual" abilities given to characters.
shhh they are sleeping
Shaman King
>character stays behind while the rest of the group presses onwards, he promises the group he'll return quickly and then the episode ends.
