However, at this point in fire punch, they had only just escaped behelgemog. I might go as far to say that while the dialogue hasnt been as good in chainsawman as it was in fire punch, the pure insanity is there. Introducing an entire cast of unique characters only to kill them the next chapter? It took fire punch multiple dozen chapters to do so. As far as the protagonists go, Denji is more of a wild card than Agni was at this point, who was looking like an edgy guy turned good.

We still have a long way to go hopefully, and when comparing chainsawman chapter to chapter with fire punch, the insanity is far higher now than it was back then.

Yeah. I don't know whether Chainsawman will go as far off the rails as Fire Punch by the end, but as is it's still defying all common shonen tropes in the most entertaining way possible. Even if the basic structure for the rest of the manga goes "Kill Demon King, get the girl" I think it'll do so in a way that satisfies.
