Novels are worth it if you are a siscon who likes siscon things. At least MC actually has some character development. Suzuka is increasingly grooming him into the perfect siscon with every volume. The parts of the LN told through Suzuka's view are also peak siscon entertainment.

I went into it expecting to just be watching it for the QUALITY and ended up laughing with it more than at it. It was just a quite enjoyable show with a better imouto than any similar show. I imagine that with better animation quality it would've been better than Eromanga.
Maybe months of people shitting on it helped me have a softer view on it though.

It's not just the animation quality imo, there's just generally stupid moments, like when the MC and his sister had a back and forth about the meaning of the word "panchira". She kept insisting that he explains it, and he reacted like she just asked him to eat her pussy.
But then again, Eromanga Sensei isn't the pinnacle of good writing either.

I come into these shows expecting that sort of stuff. I'm only expecting silliness and such, not any high class writing.
For the writing I'm just glad that only 2 of the characters acted particularly bitchy, and didn't really account for much of the runtime. It feels a novelty in these types of shows.

From what I remember the seiyuu and redhead were the only ones that actually showed much interest in him in the series. There were ecchi moments with the others but it never felt like actual attraction to him.
The series also had the benefit that no-one else but the sister could win considering most of them only like him for his talent as a writer. I'm not sure if the LN has gotten to the point of the others finding out the truth but it felt like any interest in him would disappear afterwards.
