The episode starts just immediately after a fight, there's no reason to have another fight after the first half, besides, when you actually put a distance in between each fight, they get more meaningful, and that's what this show is going for when there's no obvious villain and it's more of a competition between 7 characters.

There is nothing wrong with monster of the week if the drama between the characters and the interactions are intriguing, and the monster of the week stuff affects and changes the drama in some interesting way that changes the dynamic or makes you learn more about them (Gundam, Evangelion).
Monster of the week is shit if you have garbage generic characters that make you cringe like in Granblem so that you don't give a fuck about what really happens to the characters and where the only appeal is a) yuri b) moe stereotypes and gimmicks.

The fights needs more preparation than average, in a normal show if some big robot came to their school just after shingetsu was coming in, maybe you could put in a fight as they would just bring their robots and go to town, but this isn't how this one works, they need to have the whole sequence of going to paralel world, getting their magical girl-esque clothes summoning the robot and yada yada, it simply wouldn't fit to get a fight in this episode's half, I don't get why try to force one.

One of the main things they should be focused in designing a mech show (or a magical girl show) is how to integrate them. Like all these people that like (ironically) the current content (Isekai and fetish stuff lets be honest) clearly came into this medium through social media and seeing memes based on seasonal anime and only within the last few years or so. They clearly don't give a fuck about any of it before they started watching, don't know anything about animation really and just parrot what influencers say, and will probably move on in a few more years or even seasons once the memes they are there for wear thin or something else they deem to have better memes catches their attention.

I don't see how that's entirely different from what I envision. And yeah I notice a lot of people are fairly slow to notice patterns cause they barely see shows on more than a surface level of meme gifable animation cuts, but even they'll notice soon enough and even ones that have clearly only been around a couple years are starting to figure it out. The whole social media meme cycle that's feeding the anime industry it's rent-a-fans can probably go at least another 5 years though considering the general age of the demographic, how quickly most people burn out on it into their 20's, and how there's always new people registering to these places that'll watch a show like I don't know Rising of Shield Hero and have their minds blown by how totally "subversive" they think it is.
