Let's talk Kinnikuman! The shonen series, both manga and anime, the still ongoing main series, all it's spin-offs and more.

when the absolute fuck is this tag match going to start
One Boat Arc from now.
Too much farting. No one likes farts. I mean people like to fart but no one wants to see other people fart unless they are fucked up in the head.
Man's gotta eat, and fart.
Sure but off screen it.
where did nisei go wrong?
All of the sons have shitty personalities. Everyone but Mantaro and Kevin job too much.
I have never watched this but the OP is very catchy
Too much focus on Mantaro, less attention on the rest of the cast, especially the new guys needed some development and page time badly.
Yeah it's one of those older era anime openings that's just amazing, can recommend the franchise as a whole too, give the manga a shot, or the anime if the manga just feels too old or something.
I'm found out recently that manga is still alive and it shocked me really. Is it longest ongoing manga in history?
Nope, the amazing Golgo 13 takes the credit for that one. because that's one long continuos release since 1969.
Kinnikuman originally ended sort of in 1987, it was always more or less around in some form, it got animes, sequels, spin-offs etc but it's all seperate pieces and whatnot, the original Kinnikuman manga has been renewed in 2011 and has been going since once again but it draws quite a bit from the sequel.
pretty much what and said but the ultimate tag team arc fucked up worst of all by shitting on the older characters like retroactively making kinnikuman a cheater
what the fuck
I didn't know about that garbage retcon, what?
Got no problem with old stuff. Farting is fine. It's been on my backlog for a while now just because I found the OP when Maho precure was airing and loved it. I still have a bunch of little soft plastic figures from this series too, think they also came with a wrestling wring setup that held them so you could fight but I broke it. Favorite toys as a kid -geeat character designs- and never knew what they were til I found out years later.
That's pretty nice, I never thought people outside of Japan really grew up with Kinnikuman or the resulting merch in any way so that's pretty interesting, and yeah the designs, characters and the creativity behind it all along with the fights are by far the strongest points of the franchise.
the only time the supporting crew won was in the anime only arc right?
Friendly reminder that Robin Mask is and always will be best Seigi Choujin.
>*blocks your path*
>Berlin no Akai Ame starts playing
and is also a ghost
That's cheating? There are rules?
Posting this amazing video again
I honestly don't fucking know about there being rules, but the Justice Choujin are usually said to not use dirty tricks like the thumbing in that pic, which pretty much undermines all of Kinnikuman's fair play
It's actually been 40 years holy shit.
Perfect origins arc > 21st choujin olympics > Omega Centauri arc > devil choujin arc > devil knights arc > tag team tournament > 20th choujin olympics > Survivor match for the throne > Hawaii arc > Kaiju fighting > USA tour arc
Dragged on too much, The Choujin Tag Hen is a whole damn series altogether, but even so I liked some of the Mantarou fights way better than those of Suguru's. Nisei has been done dirty, Yudetamago should have developed Mantarou's character faster and round up his character arc as the new king or something to give the ending it deserved, only then thinking about going back to the past.
Ressurecting the old series feels like a cashgrab to me after the Tag Hen renewed interest in the OG cast.
>Too much focus on Mantaro
Yet his character was only developed midway; the problem wasn't the focus on Mantaro, it was the focus not paying off as much as it should.
>Nope, the amazing Golgo 13 takes the credit for that one. because that's one long continuos release since 1969.
Golgo 13 is not a continuous manga, it has taken several breaks, as in sometimes there's years between release, the longest continous manga ever made was Kochikame, 200 volumes, 1800 plus chapters, no breaks.
I can't imagine the payoff that would've been worth it for the cast to be sidelined all throughout more than they should've been, I just wanted more of the new generation characters to be honest.
I meant continuous as one single release that's still going, but it is indeed in terms of volumes not the longest so bad wording on my part, I meant the oldest one that's still going.
Pic related is the list of the longest manga on Wikipedia. The green ones are still being published.
One thing that should be said is that, while Dokaben has more volumes than KochiKame, it had multiple breaks in serialisaion, and it's not technically a continuous series, since it's been serialised and collected under different names once it resumed publication. Specifically, there's Dokaben (1872-1981), Dai Koushien (1983-1987), Dokaben Professional Baseball (1995-2003), Dokaben Superstars (2004-2012), and Dokaben Dream Tournament (2012-2018).
> Still no scans, even offical releases, of Nisei past volume 6
The Viz release has censors, must be why no one bothered to share it online.
I mean I can live with that, what I can't live with is paying $100 each for some of the physical releases
Now I feel stupid for not reading the manga not because of the obvious spoilers, but because it looks so rad
>Kinnikuman
>ever giving a shit about fair play
This is the same guy who would ambush American wrestlers outside the ring, tried to smuggle a fork into the Akuma Shogun fight, and generally had no qualms about accepting outside help during fights. Suguru's always been a bit of a dirty fighter.
What do you guys think about terryman?
I'm pretty sure every issue of Nisei is scanned, if you know where to look. A couple of them are EXTREMELY poor quality, though.
Overrated, in and out of story, people were still singing praises of Terryman being the best hero there ever was when Suguru had already proved his worth midway through the original series.
How old is the Yudetamago duo are at this point? Both guys in their sixties?
Yee-to-the-haw.
Proto Yamcha more or less, but more relevant written better, which isn't really a hard thing to do.
Never really liked Terryman much, he always felt weak as a character and a jobber in the actual sense of the word, even in his own arc in the first manga.
Oh man, I thought that image was from the Reboot.
I never read Nisei and I don't plan to.
Worse than early Kinnikuman scans that are just a guy taking pictures of the pages?
Haven't thought about it but at the very least yeah, they were in Highschool when they more or less started it and the franchise is over 40 years old now.
go read it.
You will forget everything about the video, when you get at those points
Pretty impressive that Kinnikuman still remains a Shueisha property, many other authors from the same era as Kinnikuman who still publishes new stories of their classics took their business elsewhere, there's also Dragonball which remains at Shueisha but it's fucking Dragonball, they treat the property and Toriyama as kings.
Extremely cultured opinion.
He probably has the best theme.
He is okay.
Why isnt this series popular out of japan? And is it a bad thing that it is?
What about Lady?
Never got localized in most places, and who cares?
Ended too soon.
Nisei actually managed to become popular in the west for a while, ironically because 4kids even if they did some censoring.
Not that guy but it makes the franchise niche as hell.
I think because it had no localization at the height of it's popularity or even years if not decades after, even now it's not easy to find everything that's relatively contemporary and Kinnikuman related in English, more or less like Hokuto no Ken I suppose. Sad too, it definitely had some potential to be very popular outside of Japan I would say but it just never came to be, I don't mind it too much to be honest but it would better if we could get regular releases in English, that's the only detriment along with the lack of fans to discuss stuff with I guess.
It ended years ago, was pretty fun though.
How many books are there? I only have 1 and 2
Books? 1 and 2? What?
As a toy MUSCLE is etched into the minds of every kid from the '80s. To the point that nowadays Super 7 and Mattel brought back the line licensed figures like WWF and Aliens. Hardcore fans started to produce their own. Some in resin and others getting production runs DoubleG Toys is one of the bigger outlets of these mini figures.
The anime series was dubbed by 4Kids and aired as part of the FoxBox block. However it came at a time when the network was having ratings issues and many first-anime-series fans had already gotten Pokemon or Tenchi or something else so MUSCLE was largely ignored as an edited series not worth your time. No one bothered to re-license and sub the original show for the US like would happen with Cardcaptors/Card Captor Sakura.
The collected editions of Lady. Didn't bother to look for it online after learning the scanlations for it stopped after a few chapters.
Like father, like son
youtube.com
Ah I see, yeah it only went on for like 3 volumes, wasn't that bad from what I saw as far as spin-offs from different authors go, it ended in 2013.
Is this the biggest asspull in the entire manga?
In a manga where there's a Hand of God as a regular resurrection tool ala Dragon Ball? Nah.
A lot of the times he gets outside help are fights where his opponents have outside help. I wouldn't really call Terryman and Brocken Jr. helping him during his fight with Atlantis cheating when it was a 1v5 to begin with.
Pretty sure this is the most iconic fight. I find it hilarious that it's more gruesome when they tried to tone it down. youtube.com
Personally Blackhole had done enough finishing off Dalmatian with a new finisher. I suppose they wanted to show the devil choujins are not total jerks
Nah, it makes sense given their bullshit powerset. Hypest part of the arc imo, besides obviously the last fight
Maybe I don't know where to look, everywhere I find only has the same random assortment of chapters that Mangafox has had for years
Reminder that this guy is the one to represent Finland.
Akuma Shogun versus The Man? I kind of like how that ended. Though the bout with Mountain resisting dehumanization is the hype for me. Budo seemed to at least respect his spirit by clasping his hands together
At least it's not Peru or Canada...
Of course. Akuma vs the man(why is that his name) is the best in the entire series.
ITT we post characters from our country, I start with Cubeman, not horrible, he actually won once before croaking at least and he's pretty clearly the way he is because a Hungarian invented the Rubik's cube so he's at least somewhat related to the nation he's representing, still an absolute joke but hey.
^forgot the actual pic of this guy.
>there's actually a character from my state
... I suppose it is relatable since mosquitoes are extremely common over here. Looks like a robot master reject from Megaman. At least it's not Malaysia Gundam
>the chicken
Nisei was actually fully dubbed here in Brazil, and we got some of the old attempts at trying to bring the toys as M.U.S..C.L.E in the early nineties.
What's with old good anime that never made it in the West being popular in Latin America? Kinnikuman, Hokuto no Ken, Saint Seiya etc.
Latin America could get some licenses either straight out of Japan without the United States midman or through Europe itself (France and Italy) which is also another big licensing market.
Saint Seiya and Hokuto no Ken actually had early attempts to become a thing in the West, Saint Seiya had an horrendous dub of the Galactic Wars early episodes, and Hokuto got the eghties movie brough over many years ago, both failed in the US.
Saint Seiya never recovered in the United States, that's why the shitty Netflix is being doing by basically an american staff to see if it can finally get some american share; Hokuto however became somewhat popular through word of mouth, so video games and some prints began to pop in the US from the 2000's and beyond.
Name a better tag team. You can't.
Reminder that Mantarou became a fighter earlier than Suguru.
I just did though.
Can't argue with that.
I cannot help but hate Mantaro's guts. Unlike his father, he just makes more enemies instead of friends by being an unlikable ass. Seriously, he did Seiuchin dirty
In what episode it stops being a gag anime and things starts to get more serious?
Mantarou is the way he is exactly because Suguru fucked up, also I can't deslike Mantarou because he actually still had face people not ever liking him as much as Suguru no matter what he does.
Also what the hell are you on about Seiuchin? He being a passive errand boy without ever speaking his mind was the enabler that allowed Mantarou to use him, he should have cut Mantarou's bullshit right away.
ahem
About the time they stop flying like Superman, I think it was Volume 15?
Read the manga. The chojin olympics arc starts in volume 3.
Start of the Devil Choujin arc? That's still kind of stretching it when it still jokes around for time to time
>Hey, fight me first! I'll make sure I give you a proper burial!
>No, fight me first! I'll finish you off so fast you won't feel a thing!
>If you fight me first, I will treat your whole family with an onsen trip
Bless you, Atlantis
>*Mukan no Teiou starts playing*
OOOHHH YEEAH LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHIN BROOTHERRR
>because Suguru fucked up
Suguru was a decent father unlike Mayumi.
Seiuchin helps out with the laundry and stuff because it's in his nature to be kind to others, especially his Bro. Sure, neptuneman planted the seed of doubt, but it's Mantarou that caused him to snap.
Suguru pampered Mantarou to no end, directly enabling all of his unwillingless to be a hero for the most part, Suguru being a bumbling enabler father only did one good thing, saving Mantarou's ass against Tell Tell Boy who couldn't instill any fear of the parent against Mantarou.
Kinnikuman deserves the JoJo treatment with an anime remake plus the sequel, they could just skip all the comedy from the first volumes and go directly to the first tournament against Robin Mask.
Why do you people hate the gags so much?
> they could just skip all the comedy from the first volumes
No, double down on it
Make capefags super mad
It's alright for the most part in my opinion, bit too heavy on toilet humour but still, it's okay, but I just know it's just something to power through before one really gets to the 肉 of the show.
Because Kinnikuman became popular due all the heartfelt fights and strong friendship spirit.
The humour is pretty bad.
Muscle Grand Prix 2 still gets tournament play and that makes me happy youtube.com
Not all of it.
It is a pretty damn solid wrestling game, Aki Corporation made some of the best games in the genre ever, it's a shame wrestling games nowadays all boils down to whatever 2K is shitting out in the given year.
Who could beat them?
Do you prefer the 80s anime or the 2000s anime?
I don't hate it. I'm just new at the anime.
80s without a doubt, same for the classic manga Vs the sequel, though the sequel, both the manga and anime is also a fun enough time.
I prefer the manga.
This
>2600 Atari Spider-man joke
Muh dick
Easily the most boring member of the team. If he was just going to look like a guy, I wish he at least had some interesting powers other than being American.
Is that official?
>Its the holocaust all over again
Holy shit, my sides.
Yes and canon to all the other series
Easily has the best theme.
>Even Nakano has a cool theme
youtube.com
I will never not love this trite gag right here.
I think Kevin winning every popularity poll even when he wasn't in an arc kinda highlighted just how underwhelming or just straight up unlikable the rest of the cast was.
Kinnikuman face flashing him back to life when?
Make a new anime already goddamn it
That's because volume 7 is absurdly expensive for some reason.
Post your favourite fights and be judged
1. Akuma Shogun vs The Man
2. Nemesis vs Robin Mask
3. Justiceman vs Terryman
4. The Machineguns vs Hell's Missionaries
5. Kinnikuman vs Warsman
6. Kinnikuman vs Nemesis
7. Kinnikuman Super Phoenix and Mammothman vs Ataru and Buffaloman
8. Brocken Jr vs Crushman
9. Silverman vs Psychoman
10. Omegaman Aristera vs Kinnikuman Super Phoenix
Also cry about no Perfect Origin Arc aka best Battle Shounen Arc of all time anime for the 40th anniversary.
Kinnikuman vs Mister VTR.
I've kinda given up hope for an anime, let alone Kinnikuman getting the Jojo treatment
>most of the old anime voice actors are dead
>tiger mask w was a flop
>wrestling's already a severely underpopulated in anime with only Tiger Mask and Kinnikuman as actual stand outs
>the best we've gotten for the 40th fucking anniversary was a slideshow and some 2 minutes of muscle docking
>nearly no one outside of japan except a few european countries and brazil where the old anime barely aired don't even know about it
>those who do keep on mistaking it for ultimate muscle
It just seems like Kinnikuman's fated for the Choujin Graveyard forever.
1. The Diabolos VS The John Does (fite me)
2. Silverman VS Psychoman
3. Buffaloman VS Ganman
4. Akuma Shogun VS Strong The Budo
5. Kinnikuman VS Nemesis
6. Ramenman VS Nemesis
7. Stecasse King VS Turboman
8. Benkiman VS Gear Master
9. Kinnikuman VS Buffaloman
10. Terryman VS Max Radial
with an honourable mention to Kinnikuman VS Robin Mask for escalating the show into wrestling.
Let’s be real, the only issue for a non-western release of all because of Brocken. They can do the toys but no anime because he’s a ‘good’ nazi, an oxymoron.
>No kinnikuman during the weight of wrestling in 80s and 90s
I don't really care about Nisei but I'd like to read Kevin Mask vs Mantaro because the original Kinnikuman vs Robin Mask fight was great.
youtube.com
I'm really early into the revival series
1. Kinnikuman vs Warsman
2. Kinnikuman vs Super Phoenix
3. Robin Mask vs Mariposa
4. Muscle Brothers vs 4D Killer Combo
5. Blue Impulse vs Zebra and Parthenon
6. Kinnikuman vs Akuma Shogun
7. Terryman vs Max Radial
8. Ataru vs Super Phoenix
9. Machineguns vs Hell Missionaries
10. Kinnikuman vs Omegaman (Kamehame)
In general Kinnikuman is fraught with outdated stereotypes that are considered offensive.
More or less like how actual wrestling was at the time, if I'm being honest.
How far in? It's the best arc, I can't believe how good it is, it's almost some sort of wizardry that Yudetamago made it that good.
>Blue Impulse vs Zebra and Parthenon
This was another good one
youtube.com
Just imagine all the people who would bitch about Chanelman and Kinnikuman Great.
>I would, but you racist fucks would probably lynch me.
So I rather not .
It's great because Mantaro gets fucking rekt. Too bad it couldn't have happened earlier.
I just started the tag match with the devil chojin vs perfect chojin.
Even when Kinnikuman was on-going it referenced mainly older stuff, the Choujin Olympic belt is closer to the NWA belt than anything around/popular at the time it was running. The names on the belt are also all old as shit.
But I do think it was stupid not adapting it at that time anyway, people would have been well up for it. Not so much during the Attitude Era though I reckon.
I heard that as well. Apparently the anime only got that far because 4kids bankrolled it due to popularity in the west.
Very early indeed. The bst is yet to come.
>Easily one of the strongest characters
>Make him job for that
being Terry isn't easy
For a second, I thought you were from The Cherokee Nation.
Pretty much. That's probably why Mantaro won the match in the anime as well.
Though, I do get the feeling that they saw what Yudetamago was doing with the Demon Seed arc and opted out of funding an adaptation because of how fucking dark it was.
Just do it
Based name
1. Robin Mask vs Nemesis
2. Akuma Shogun vs The Man
3. Robin Mask vs Mammothman
4.Kinnikuman vs Warsman
5.Geronimo vs Sunshine
6. Silverman vs Psychoman
7. Kinnikuman vs Robin Mask
8. Black Hole vs Dalmatiman
9.Black Hole and Pentagon vs Muscle Brothers
10. Blue Impulse vs Kinnikuman Zebra and Parthenon
I kinda see why Suguru became the kind of parent that spoils their. Again, Mayumi was fucking awful.
>1. Robin Mask vs Nemesis
You have been judged to have outrageously based taste. The volume of Robin Mask V Nemesis should be like a textbook of how to do a good battle shounen fight.
1. Goldman vs. The Man
2. Muscle Brothers vs. Stray Akuma Chojin Combo
3. Robin Mask vs. Mammothman
4. Atlantis vs. Marlinman
5. Ashuraman vs. Satan Cross
6. O. Aristera vs. Kinnikuman Super Phoenix
7. Ramenman vs. Bikeman
8. Silverman vs. Psychoman
9. Mariquitaman vs. CurryCook
10. BH vs. Dalmatiman
I'm finally caught up, do new chapters drop regularly or whenever the translator is able to get one out?
Relatively regularly but I'm not sure what the actual release schedule for Kinnikuman is right now. I think he does them pretty soon after the chapters are released, I saw a spoiler for Ataru in these chapters and the next day the chapter was out.
Is Warsman begins canon? I don't like how it retcons the pallo special.
I think it's in sundays, littlerubberguysdotcom have a kinnikuman thread about the manga
Thanks. It took two weeks but it was a surprisingly easy binge.
Will we ever get more subs
What was the retcon, I can't remember.
Random useless bit of information, the OLAP that Kevin Mask does is the correct way of doing the IRL Pallo Special, Yudetamago couldn't remember which round it was when they gave Warsman the move and it meant his Palo special is a reverse of the actual move.
It's actually Robin Mask's move that Warsman copies
I thought that was the case though? It was one of the moves they had described but not mastered, Warsman mastered it. I vaguely remember that the OLAP was something similar, Kevin Mask was aware the move existed but he had to be taught how to use it by, well, you know who.
It's probably as canon as that Muscle Returns story where Kinnikuman supposedly hadn't entered the ring in the five years since becoming king.
funyy, I dont remember the art being like this...
I dropped early since art so fugly
For shame. You missed out on a lot.
That shot's from Warsman Begins, a one-shot origin story on Warsman done for Kinnikuman's 29th anniversary.
It's from the revival arc where the art is fucking great. Even later on in the original series the art improves, early art is pretty crap but fits in with a gag manga, but the gag stuff gets dropped around Volume 3 so it doesn't last for long.
Based Yude
>He doesn't know
Damn, training arcs are one hell of a drug.
Not as good as warsman
New art style is so crisp.
Compared to ye olden days.
this is a great example of art evolution
40 years in the game.
I think Nisei and it's sequel/spin off/whatever the fuck that time travelling tag team bullshit was had art more similar to the revival arc, but not as good from what I have seen.
I can't put my finger on why none of the bullshit that happens in this manga bothers me. Stuff like this is the reason I don't even give most modern battle shonen a chance anymore, but when it happens in this series I don't have a problem with it as long as its entertaining.
After thinking about it for a bit it's probably because the cast is made of a bunch of grown ass adults throwing down instead of the annoying teen protagonists that are a dime a dozen in today's manga. Plus the wrestling moves are just really damn cool and not something you see much nowadays.
>I don't have a problem with it as long as its entertaining.
This. It's the same reason why some of the stuff in JJBA is allowed to slide. Kinnikuman, despite inventing half of the shit that most modern battel manga do, keeps you guessing, and that makes it entertaining. I've read a lot of shit where I guessed how it was going to end long before it did (remember fucking Tobi being Obito in Naruto for example, people guessed that years before it was revealed) because a lot of it is derivative of older series. Whereas in Kinnikuman I could have had a million guesses and I wouldn't have guessed that Ataru would pick Brocken Jr of all people to be his tag team partner. But you know what, it actually makes perfect sense once it's explained.
Yudetamago are too good now.
They can probably do brocken now thanks to stroheim
Still better than one more day
They have technically already done him.
The transformation kind of makes sense. Pentagon could use chronos change while BH's dimension and change places. What's weird is how he got sucked up. Isn't he from America?
while inside*
The biggest surprise I got from the Perfect Origin arc was Akuma Shogun being the one to finally bring down The Man. I expected it to be Kinnikuman somehow and was so glad to be proven wrong.
And the reveal that he was finally able to use Friendship Power because he had that master/student bond with his opponent was surprisingly fantastic. It's like the reboot ascended to Gash Bell levels of acceptable powerups and I really dig it.
The page of Omegaman Aristera using friendship power and the panel below of Super Phoenix using evil God power is one of my favourite pages. The power ups have been handled amazingly well.
Yeah Nisei art seemed in development too, but there isn't much time between the tag team tournament final and the revival
More like in the original dialogue they are parody names like Ulterman instead of Ultraman (in the japanese audio they said Utoraman instead of Uru tora man like it supposed to be, also because, you know, Toei doesnt own Ultraman, which is Tsuburaya)
In a manga where "power of friendship" is an real power or someone can make rain of his sweat. No
>>tiger mask w was a flop
well it wasnt an animu loli based on trend flavor of the month with fujobait so what did you expect, also its modern toei so if its not dragon cashcow or pirate dragpiece or toy commercial shows, who cares.
Been awhile since I've seen the show but the dub implies they're related right?
>da third or spring tiger shfiguarts never
Miss X barely has any porn. If the blatant fapbait can't nab the attention then the show is lucky to reach cult status.
Kevin Mask was raped by Warsman under the scorching summer sun of 92
With no ranking
1. Akuma Shogun vs The Man
2. Robinmask vs Mammothman
3. Blackhole vs Dalmatian
4. Robinmask vs Nemesis
5. Robinmask vs Mariposa
6. Kinnikuman vs Warsman
7. Warsman vs Manriki
8. Mariposa vs Hailman
9. Big Body vs Gear Master
10. Ramenman vs Brockenman
Yeah, I guess I am a huge fan of Robin.
youtube.com
I like those Omega Centaurians. Wonder what's gonna happen if they somehow succeed in killing The Man and if Kinnikuman prevented an utter catastrophe from stopping Akuma Shogun from doing so in the first place.
The problem I can see is that Satan is pulling the strings behind them, even if they denied serving him. Which prompts another question. What's actually Satan's deal? Back in Devil Choujin arc, it seems to imply that Buffaloman made a pact with him, so you would think Satan himself is actually Goldman. But now he's supposedly another force of nature and not one of those gods.
Where are all these official looking pieces of art coming from and why does Pirateman look so damn cool?
I think they're from Muscle Shot which is a gacha game.
PILE DRIVER
the fox box rocks
I do get the feeling that he will be a Seigi Choujin after this. I hope he doesn't job like most do.
It's a really nice aesthetic and I wouldn't mind an anime with this style.
Speaking of gacha games I tried rolling for Kinnikuman in one of the Jump gatchashit games and ended up empty handed. At least Akuma Shogun was free.
There's supposed to be rules but the chairman ignores that most of the time, like the scramble for the throne where all the princes cheated constantly and he didn't give a shit
If you stay down for 10 seconds you lose, right?
The only time I can think of Kinnikuman cheating is when he saved Terryman in his fight with King 100 Ton with face flash, and that was right after he got ganged on by mixer taitei, all five princes, and VTR.
I'm not sure. I thought they were dhen I watched it but I dont think the dub specified.
Favorite character, casual filter for power-level and win record obsessed readers.
His fights tend to be enjoyable more due to the drama in them than whether he wins or not, which make them extremely memorable. I do wish he had more finishing moves like Calf Branding, and got into fights that weren't against either OP choujin or giants though, but they don't lessen the character for me.
Burning Inner Strength and Friendship Power are two different powers, right? I think I remember Nemesis claiming they were the same thing but then it wouldn't explain how Kinnikuman was able to fight after Mixer Taitei blended the power out of him.
I haven't got that far, but my impression was that they're interconnected but distinct powers. The throne arc was pretty heavy on friendship power and Kinnikuman didn't have his BIS for most of the arc, so it makes sense that they're separate.
I found it. Unless the revival series retconned it, they're different powers.
That makes the most sense.
Man, I still think that Friendship Power sounded like a complete load of nonsense before the revival series expanded on it but now I love it.
>TFW you like Terryman but everyone else hates him.
I'm sorry for having shit taste guys.
Where did all of the Kinnikuman fans come from all of a sudden? For decades on Yea Forums there were only 3 of us.
Reminder that Kevin Mask won. This is canon and the anime is NOT canon.
I was unaware of the existence of the Revival Arc or threads for some ancient 70's manga on this board until several months ago.
And even then I didn't want to get into it because it looked long and it looked like part of Nisei which I wasn't interested in.
I played pic related and recognized Kinnikuman looked like the guy from Ultimate Muscle and that Ultimate Muscle was actually a sequel to Kinnikuman.
I found out about it three or four years ago. Sorry about that.
I got introduced from those Muscle Fight videos in niconico and only then started following the series. Didn't really talk much about it in Yea Forums because muscle men are "gay" these days
I feel like the only person here who didn't get into the franchise via the Ultimate Muscle cartoon.
The translator for Bobobo kept raving about the series in his TL notes so I checked it out. Recognized that interesting looking wrestler dude from JUS and jumped right into it.
Only brainlets will argue that his logic is wrong.
This was pretty cool

>game made to celebrate Jump's 50th Anniversary
>no Kinnikuman
>even less reps than J-Stars
Shame their goal seemed to be to pander to Westerners than to make a 50th Anniversary game.
And would it kill them to make something in the same vein as Ultimate Stars again?
I remember knowing about Ultimate Muscle and the NES game, but I started with the serie after watching some of their themes

OP here, no idea, I honestly didn't expect a Kinnikuman thread on Yea Forums to really last nowadays but the discussions here have been great so far, really got me into the mood for a re-read, I got into it a few years ago by discovering Muscle Grand Prix 2 and then I went on to read the mango.
Noodles are people! China has a 4000 year history!
I can fucking hear it.
You either make an anniversary game or a game that sells. Profit wins every time.
The game was shit though, Kinnikuman wouldn't save that dumpster fire.
I wonder how it did. Never was interested in playing it but I was really curious about what they’d cook up for an anniversary game.
Terryman is ok I just wish he fought a guy who didn't outsize and overpower him. Basically, have a legitimate fight with Kinnikuman or Robin
>Peru
Peru has Sunshine and he's sick
Gold Lightan? He rarely represents his countrymen. Meanwhile...
Is his power really just being American?
That and being a Texan.
I think it is, until the next thread/chapter
I rediscovered it in 2015. So 4 years for me as well.
People usually call you a fag usually, so that's why we didn't partecipate in these threads.
Average thread gets 8 replies.
I got into Kinnikuman because someone posted Neptuneman's theme in the /jp/ Monster Girl thread (for whatever reason) and I liked it so much I decided to look into things further.
Bump
Yet somehow did both
Mukan no Teiou is clearly the shit. I got someone interested with the soundtrack by playing just that.
handhelds get some leeway in the graphics department though (therefore cheaper to produce). you got to go all out on the consoles or else people will call your game crap despite not even playing it.
Actually, what was Yude's obsession with having him fight the heaviest choujin? I mean, dude fought The Mountain and King the 100 Ton. Sunshine too if you count tag matches.
I'm probably one of those three. I've liked Kinnikuman for over a decade now.
have they ever tried to do a tiger mask/kinnikuman crossover?
In retrospect, Mantaro and Kevin getting over themselves and forming a tag team should have been way more hype than it was.
And Yudetamago shouldn't have spent 28 fucking volumes to do it a second time.
This happened though.

>this thread is still alive
holy shit now this is a surprise, anyway you guys made me start re-reading kinnikuman, thanks
>fought Kinnikuman twice in special chapters
>his fight got interrupted the first time and was called a draw
>his second fight ended in a tie
what a cuck
You should, I originally made this thread and expected it to tank in a few hours at best, half a day passed, I slept, gone to work, came home since and it's still going, definitely doing a re-read and possibly a rewatch, do you know of any site that has some better scans of the early gag volumes? I checked pretty much everything and it's all the same thing of some guy who took photos of the pages.
Still less of a tremendous faggot than his son though.
timing helped this thread stay alive, this being a jojo-free week?
>three different stages of burning inner strength
>first stage: basic inner strenght Kinnikuman can use at will. It's used when Kinnikuman is fighting for his own sake
>second stage: power-up that activates when Kinnikuman is fighting for his allies
>third stage: massive power-up that activates when Kinnikuman is fighting for his opponent's sake
kinda based, though not as based as Ataru's hellfire inner strength
Too bad the new chapter hasn't been released yet. It could've been dumped here.
Thee's nothing wrong with Terry Funk Jr Jr

Super Phoenix better stick around and fight again damnit.
Kinnikuman themes make for the best tolerable AMVs

Smaller fanbase, hence better quality. Watch out looking for fanarts in pixiv

>didn't kill Geronimo
Clearly Shogun was showing mercy on that. An error for sure
Is there a place that conveniently has all of these other than Sushio's twitter/google? I've been trying to find a higher res version of the one he did with Kinnikuman doing the Muscle Curtain, I know it exists because I saw it once but didn't save it.
I don't think so, twitter is probably your best bet.
Found it.
Oh wow, didn't know he was a Kinnikuman fan. These are great.
just gotta keep it going until tomorrow
do we dump the benkiman story instead?
Cheers.
He loves it.
Pretty sure his existence will mean this series will never be mainstream. Still, that wacky side story. Then again, there's that one for Curry Cook Probably Canadianman soon
I can't imagine how much Sushio wants a reboot anime.
WATCHU GONNA DO, WHEN NEPTUNEMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU BROTHER
Hopefully one for Teapackman too about how he got jacked in a month and a half
He had a side story? I don't remember reading it.
That's 'cause it's in the 2011-2014 one shot collection book,
He had the greatest side story.
This kino AMV youtube.com
It's weird, it feels like the song fits this AMV a whole lot more than what it's actually from, Baki.
I really liked the Brocken Jr and Ramenman one shot.
It's not really stages, so much as he pulls out more of it when he's more motivated. Kinnikuman being the heroic guy that he is, he's the most motivated when trying to help people
Pirateman described them as 3 stages but yeah it is basically the same thing but more power each time.
Posting the cooler looking American choujin.
>We'll never get an anime with animation like this
youtube.com
Psychoman and Pirateman are the best antagonist in the revival
How the fuck do I buy Kinnikuman t-shirts?
Psychoman did nothing wrong.
why is thingman such absolute dogshit
is kevin nash the only "modern" wrestler that kinnukuman has referenced in a while or it's just harder to do parodies/references nowadays (lawsuit city)?
>supposed to have godlike defensive armor
>OHKO'd by his own blades
I kept forgetting about him after he lost to Sunshineman.
he's the worst origin and he's supposed to be from FUCKING OUTER SPACE
How can a walking alien robot chainsaw wrestler job so hard?
Painman had a similar amount of invincibility yet he lost to some heat and spikes. Not sure which defeat is more humiliating.
He was obviously gay for Silverman.
Probably Thingman's. Painman did a number on Junkman, like forcing him to break off one of his hands so he could move faster. It's not like how Thingman not only got duped by Sunshine but also got killed by his own chainsaws and then homerun'd into oblivion.
Nisei felt kinda edgy
it was waaay more gruesome than the original manga for some reason
well, kinnikuman never hesitated in making the fights gruesome as well
Holy shit, this keep on
>he’s not dead
Redemption is at hand. Maybe.
The character who gets the 29th place in the popularity poll gets a special chapter but don't remember if this also happens with Curry Cook's one
>turns out thingman was launched all the way to omega centauri
>he guided them back to earth to get back at the inferior choujin
it all makes sense
And the Kaiju from the first few volumes are gonna be on their side and they'll all be ripped as fuck. Just you wait.
it's a long fucking fight
also akuma shogun is absolutely based
Just how many Choujin did The Man deport?
I'm waiting for Kinkotsuman to make a dramatic comeback. It's just gotta happen at this point.
> Mars' spine folding like a cheap metal chair after Mantaro used Muscle Millenium on him in the manga.

Post Dream Tag Teams (and their name)
Omegaman Dexia / Psychoman (Alpha & Omega)
Robin Mask and Neptuneman(The Queen's Finest)
can anyone a recomend a kinnikuman playlist for people who are reading/rereading the manga
Why does Robin Mask always get the best moments?
Because he is the best character.
Because he is so damn cool.
Because he's hot.
I should try to get Muscle Fight working again.
canada had both subs and dubs of all those series in the early 90s and later , most of the west did
He’s either gonna be the final boss of the manga or the final hero that arrives at the last minute to save the day.
He gonna shoot Satan's leg
Robin Mask will come back as one of Satan's minions. Heard it here first.
they probably thought brazil and africa were the same shit.
Is there an in-universe reason why he is so fucking flatulent?
i think its because of the garlic thing.
>Heaven's Door Requiem
would be a nice way to bring him back
I'm not really sure if I want Robin back myself, especially since other Choujin are getting their spotlight in these new arcs. I feel like Robin had his time in the old series like getting to be rivals with Neptuneman and taking out big shots like Mariposa and Mammothman.
Only if he then comes back to the good side. I miss based Robin.
>Veteran
>Only a couple years older than the rest of them.
This was always a little odd to me.
He got to marry his waifu in the end. Based Mantarou.
How is the Peru representative?
Good for him but his poor wife has to tolerate her terrible farts.
>Mantarou
That's Suguru and Bibinba, user.
I tend to confuse them. Yes I know I am a retard.
Was Mantarou's love life even resolved.
I think it got even worse, with Rinko ending up liking the shit OC Mantaro was tagging with more.
Sure. At the end of the tag arc he's reunited with his true love Kevin Mask.
The absolute state of Mantarou.
The Young Masters is a really great tag team name.
Wait, Suguru is King Muscle and Mantarou is Kid Muscle, right? I haven't watched the series in ages.
>used to translate new chapters into a post similar to a novel chapter back in LRG
>for what ever reason couldn't access the forum
>lost interest when I couldn't access it in a month. That was years ago
>went back to it today and was able to view the forum
>actually got a mail asking if something back happened to me
I failed you guys. I'll now go join Kinkotsuman and other losers instead
Yup
Suguru is the dad and Mantaro the son
What happened to her frieds? I remember she was part of a trio of girls.
Were you F.I.A?
Your translations were fucking great, helped me a lot in learning nip.
She was, but she left them when they all time travelled to the time of the tag tournament.
Yea I am. It's a good thing someone more capable is working on it nowadays so I won't feel as bad leaving you guys hanging.
Wasn't he defeated by the white hole made of farts?
心配するな!キン肉マンの翻訳はオレに任せろ!

As taken from ACEN this year, my favorite cosplayer of the whole con. He liked my kinnikuman shirt I got at Uniqlo when they had the 50th Jump anniversary shirts on sale. He brought his son with him too.
this, I assumed when I saw the count their was a new anime for it or some shit. every thread about it I've seen on here died with more than 10 posts.
That particular one you posted was one of the funnier moments, most of the gags were weak.
*no more than 10 posts
>She was, but she left them when they all time travelled to the time of the tag tournament.
I would have rather had them tag along than fucking Barrierfreeman.
based animedad
Imagine being Peekaboo
>doesn't have his own original move
>always gets lobotomized by your boss do you can always overpower your opponent
Is Robin dead or alive in Nisei?
Alive, then dead, then alive again
Robin Mask Alive>dead>alive>dead>alive>dead>alive>dead (current)
So he has to come back in some way, shape, or form in this revival arc then.
Face flash always works. It's funny how Suguru still hasn't used it in revival
Face flash is pretty much an deus ex machina even for Kinnikuman standards. I think if they gonna use it again it gonna be very much at the end
This posture is really a meme
Black Hole is the meme
Too bad this didn't happen
I won't even need the bump of my farts to keep this thread alive.
Eats ridiculous amounts and he's literally fueled by garlic.
*ahem*
I don't understand this one bit at all, but it's clearly brimmed with confidence
Y-yamete Springman-sama!
This guy is Turkish apparently, I don't even remember who he was. Why not make something stereotypical like kebabman
What the fuck is a muscle?
Here's
It's Turkish Bane.
We will probably get new chapter 3 hours from now. Probably

Aristera saga is still going on right?
Yes. It's going to be a tag team. It's hype because Ataru
I'm happy Ataru choose Brockenman as his partner, i expect a lot from him.
Who drew this? And I was also kind of hoping for this to happen.
BUT THEN Ataru appeared and I was hoping for Muscle Brothers vs Omega and was excited.
BUT THEN he chose Brocken Jr for his tag team partner and am now even more excited. Based Yudetamago with the constant swerves.
Where did all those picture come from? Aristera looks awesome in this style. Akuma Shogun as well.
From that video. Made for the 40th anniversary.
Oh at first i tought it was from a gacha game, nice.
I think that's where all these are from. I almost wish that video didn't exist because it makes us see what could have been.
This is also pretty kawaii, mini Kevin (who is still probably like 6foot given how tall adult Kevin is).
God i would even like a ps4 game with those renders.
While I would like that as well, given the current climate of fucking bullshit adaptations this would end up being a fucking arena fighter, which would mean it's not worth playing.
>tfw no new 2D/2.5D Tag Team Kinnikuman fightin game
youtube.com
god dammit i love akuma shogun design, silverman also have a really great one.
now i want a silver golden mask tag team
>tfw no new 2D/2.5D Tag Team Kinnikuman fightin game
Yeah now that i think about it, would be much better. Then again i wouldn't mind a 2D fightan much like muscle fight..
>silver golden mask tag team
Fuck yes. I can't think of a good name for their tag team though.
pixiv.net
He does draw NSFW so tread lightly
I don't understand this. Kinnikuman Muscle fight is a game made by a group of fans. Choujin Enma's voice is obviously sampled and worked on from like Big the Budo. But the whole flashback stuff? Like Goldman and Painman where did they get the voicelines from?
probable a pun using gin/kin and brothers
I loved so much that Yudetamago gave Akuma Shogun a whole Arc about his backstory and stuff.
Akuma Shogun is possibly one of the best desinged choujin in the whole series. His art in the new series in particular is amazing.
My other favourites are Warsman (GOAT contender with Akuma Shogun), Planetman, Pirateman, Crushman, Robin Mask, Super Phoenix and even though are more simple, Terryman, Ataru and Brocken Jr.
>BROTHERS OF HEAVEN
Sounds to be like it's cobbled together with various anime voice clips. It's something you get from using a voice synthesizer
Also Sushio Planetman.
Now that's overdoing it.
I like the Omega brothers' designs too. Their gimmick just a giant hand but they still manage to look really cool.
Heh
Masked wrestlers in suits is a great aesthetic. I wish I had the pic of Jushin Thunder Liger, The Great Sasuke and Ultimo Dragon all wearing suits.
What's the official color of Robin's armor? I thought it was gold for the longest time for some reason.
Nice.
Good good.
Silver. But the anime colors are superior.
i think the official is silver but i love his blue color scheme
I personally prefer the blue color more
>ebookjapan
Was thinking of dumping the raws, but turns out it's not something you can just pluck off the site like VIZ or the MangaPLUS series. Oh well.
Not much new info anyway other than the fact Astera called their team the Omega Glorious
and that Ataru's back at his "no bullshit" true friendship power shit.
this pages is why i love ataru, no BS, no dialog, he say everything he needed with a slap
Also look at how happy Brocken Jr is lol.
Because I saw ultimate muscle as a kid I keep reading all of Ataru's line in that American Soldier voice they used in the dub and half of what he says doesn't fit with that accent.
He needed that slap because he got too focused on winning and probably got woobly feet for fighting on a ring both have lost once on.
Holy shit, I was busy and thought this thread died like 3 days ago.
I can't believe you guys kept the discussion alive for this long.
Anything's possible with Friendship Power.
Now, do all beings of Planet Kinniku wear masks, or is it just certain ones, or members of the royal family?
i think all of then, at least as far as we know the ultramen stuff they have on top of their head is part of the mask
So in Jacqueline's case, this might not be her real face?
If even a poor guy like Phoenix has one, I suppose it applies to everyone.
Well, her dad is a big shot, so I suppose she gets an exception. Even Meat's sister has a mask on
That horn is part of the mask right, so it probably isn't.
I really liked Super Phoenix and Zebra's backstory, in particular Super Phoenix though.
Last bump for the day. Hope it will survive until tomorrow.
It's a pity he couldn't win after reformation, but Astera needed that plot armor to push the story.
I like how Omegaman knew all of this stuff about The Man but its a shame we didn't get to see stuff other than a few pages of flashbacks. Hopefully Aristera turns out good as well to go against the devil.
Who's looking at her face?
I wonder how the story would’ve changed if Akuma Shogun ended up killing The Man. They’d still need to save their home planet with Magnet and Friendship power, but Satan would have no need for them anymore.
You know if there's ever a new anime, this shit needs to be animated.
Where's Tatsunori?
You know, one funny thing I noticed about the anime and manga colourings of characters is that Terryman's colour scheme is red and white while Terry The Kid's colour scheme is yellow and blue, the same one as Terryman's anime colour scheme. It's like Yude realized how much better some of the anime colur schemes were.
Could this be the first Kinnikuman thread to hit bump limit?
He did it again in the current run when he fought the tire guy and Justiceman
Really good shit.
How far is the anime subbed now?
I think its already finished the Golden Mask Arc
>Terryman has white hair
I thought he was blonde this whole time
That would be a really good finishing line.
Illegal moves are legal if they last less than 4 seconds.
It was a big part of Tiger Mask character development as well.
Yeah, it's a really weird colour scheme for him, especially since the anime one fits his American Wrestler theme so well.
Yeah blonde Terryman and blue Robin Mask are superior but still prefer blue Ashuraman
The anime's design for Stecasse King was pretty shit too, desu.
Blue Ashuraman makes sense given his inspiration.
source on this pic?
Flesh colored Ashuraman looks badass but the blue skin is too deeply engraved into my mind.
How did we go from this
to THIS?
The Nisei and Digimon Frontier movies showed together, and Toei loves kigus
The footage should be in here
nyaa.si
I want to start reading Kinnikuman, when does it stop being a full gag manga and start being a shonen?
It will more or less never full on stop being a gang manga, but it will get more serious by the 3rd or 4th volume or so i would say, just power through it.
The chojin olympics starts in volume 3, but there are still gags.
I mean I know its going to be gag central but when do the drawings start getting good and when does plot start happening.
Volume 4 is the first "serious" arc.
The 20th chojin olympics is the first structured arc with a narrative. The art gets better in the 21st chojin olympics.
TO THIS?
If you are asking when the art starts looking really crisp like some of the posts ITT then it's the revival arc, but the arc from the start to the end of the original run of the manga also improves quite a lot.
The girls are hot in this series?
I thought there were only one or two girls in this series: Kinnikuman's mom and Kinnikuman's wife.
It...
...varies, you should look into Kinnikuman Lady if you want female chars really.
You can count the amount of named females on one hand.
Remember how anime discarded her over a kindergarten teacher?
I never understood that. Mari doesn't even appear after the second volume.
thicc
Female Chojin fighters are pretty rare, even by Nisei's time.
She's named after Korean food, and things were even more fucked between the countries than now
Easy.
Does Kinnikuman Lady farts like the real Kinnikuman?
So there is a reason why his name was changed to Rikishiman?
yfw Tower of Babel only exist in a game youtube.com
What are the must play Kinnikuman games?
What do you think about Okamaras?
I often forget that Mantaro was 14 at the start of Nisei.

I always thought he was based on Dusty Rhodes.
>Calf Branding is cool as hell.
user is correct.

I wonder if this would be possible to do IRL even slightly safely.
Manly/10
I assume you've now figured out he's based on Terry Funk. He even has his nickname, THE TEXAS BRONCO, which is a cool as fuck name.
Dusty Rhodes did have a character based on him in Kinnikuman though.
