It was chapter 504. I feel it's similar because it's not the first time gosho played with kanji when revealing something or drawn as chapter's closure panel, and I feel there are more but couldn't remember more right now.

Making a double meaning with furigana and kanji is a common play on words and something Gosho does from time to time, even in this kind of scene from vol. 1. I wouldn't say it's the same sort of thing as the 領域外の妹 clue though. 領域外の妹 is ingenious because it's like a formula hidden in plain sight. Sad that most of the English readers just seem to think it's bullshit.
I will be curious to see how Viz handles it when they get to this volume in who-knows-how-many years.

As an outsider looking in it feels like Japan's standards for stuff like Conan's anime has changed a lot. If there was ever a time Conan could be kissed by Ran I feel like it'd have been around the beginning. That's one way of doing it. The scanlator and even Viz have had to resort to including the kanji in the dialogue at some points. Usually Viz tends to simplify as much as possible, so I don't know if they might do something like translate it as "sister without the territory" from the start. That would do away with the double meaning of "領域外" which would lessen the puzzle aspect of the clue, but since they don't like having to use translation notes, that might be a possible route for them.

It's strange to me that BSI is reluctant to include one for such an important plot development or issue a v2 to fix the dialogue so it makes sense. Often a nonsensical translation is a result of the translator mechanically translating the words while not fully understanding what he's reading, so I wonder if that's what's going on here and why they don't feel like clarifying.

I checked the Spanish translation of that page, and they didn't explain the deduction either. That's probably because like most Spanish scanlation groups, they are translating from the English scanlation and not the original text.
I also checked a Chinese translation, and there is no further explanation there either, but since they render the phrase "領域外の妹" as "领域外的妹妹" similar to how it's written in Japanese it might make more intuitive sense.

Maybe I should explain this one since existing translations may not have made it clear. In this scene in vol 1 file 9, Conan says "my real voice" in the furigana but "my true feelings" in the kanji. The scanlation only included the words in furigana and ignored the kanji, while Viz did the opposite.

Oh, I found another example from that chapter that's a little similar. In the bottom left panel where Conan says "idol", normally that word is written in katakana "aidoru" when referring to pop stars, and that is the pronunciation here in the furigana. But here they also include the kanji 偶像 which means "idol" as in the physical image of religious worship, and which is the original meaning that the loanword "aidoru" was derived from. So the connotation is that he's emphasizing the meaning of the word "idol" as an object of worship. It's a subtle distinction but a deliberate one.
Written Japanese can be really flexible like that.
Incidentally, the scanlation translated that line and the one before it incorrectly and Viz got closer to the original meaning.

It's hard to track down Conan lewds. So many thousands of doujins have never been scanned and no longer appear on the used market, so they've been lost to the ages. Also, a lot of doujinka who had personal sites when those were in vogue put their R18 material behind password-protected pages to avoid kids from seeing it. Artists delete their work from pixiv all the time too.

Not necessarily. Different ones pop up all the time on the used doujin sites. But they can be hard to get ahold of unless you're awake at just the right time when they appear, because the ones that aren't really expensive usually get snatched up within minutes. DC is a very popular fandom, and NL doujins are in especially high demand.
