Nah I think they did the scene better actually. It looks like the changed what happened there. They have their tea and snacks out and were probably eating together when all of a sudden the dad combusted and the daughter knocked over her chair and ran away. That's what it looks like at least from how they set up the scene and I think that makes it much more sad than her walking in on her dad already combusted.
