Am I missing some kind of in joke? This entire series was fucking tedious as hell. They spend forever explaining their convoluted anime powers and backstories and NEVER use them. Entire episodes are spent on the most trivial shit like online auctioning and alien bug chess games. The ending isn't satisfying at all and is basically just "lol I guess just read the manga and maybe something will happen in the next arc."

I thought it had potential up through the Yorknew arc, but everything after that was just worse and worse

to be fair you need to have a high iq to truly enjoy hxh

The adaptation is genuinely poorly paced and adapts 2-3 chapters per episode on average.

I love not having to gatekeep this series because togashi does it for me. What a genius.

Better than Dr.Cuckold.

I’ve seen the series twice. The first time, I thought it was pretty good, maybe an 8/10. The second time? It was torturous. The pacing is abysmal, the characters and their actions are illogical, and it just gets worse and worse after YN. I don’t even know how I got through it the first time. It’s a 4/10 on a good day.

Basically, watch/read Dr. Stone instead.

>and backstories
The fuck are you talking about? There are only two characters in the entire manga who get a backstory over one page long.

The anime's pacing is a mess, though.
Hunter Exam, Zoldyck Family, Heaven's Arena, Chimera Ants, and Election adapt two chapters per episode, while Yorkshin adapts 3 and GI 2.5.

This makes CA feel like a slog right after two arcs that were quite eventful and well-paced in the anime.

Most of the Chimera Ant arc was dreadful, especially with the seemingly constant narration. The hell was up with that shit?

>I thought it had potential up through the Yorknew arc, but everything after that was just worse and worse
A true man of culture. YN arc was the only promising arc in HxH.

stick to wanpiss faggot

It's just a normal arc ending, the series is still going.

Also at least as a kid I loved the trival things, I guess you picked it up too late.

>Rewatch the CA arc
>"Oh, guess the whole Gon arc doesn't matter because Kite's a loli. Kinda kills the drama of Gon being all angry"

Also, maybe going from 3 chapters to 2 doesn't seem like a big deal at first, but if you think about it, this anime could have ended up with about 30-40 less episodes if it was all paced like during the Yorkshin adaptation.

>spend multiple entire episodes explaining APR and Hotel Rafflesia
>Knuckle and Shoot never actually use them to any effect on anyone other than Gon and Killua
EXPECTATIONS SUBVERTED, SASUGA TOGASHI-SAMA

>alien bug chess games
Everything on the game foreshadowed the final events of the arc if you paid attention.

ARE YOU FUCKIGN GIDDINGZ ME?

Even how the hunter team would attack the palace was in the board game too.

Snore.

Imagine the kino if gon just had kicked the bucket after going all out, kaido stayed dead and killua would have stayed with leorio as a portable defibrillator.

Hey, pssst, throwing in some nifty narative trick doesn't make the CA arc less of a borefest. It just shows that togashi knows a lot of cool things but got now idea how to make a compelling story using them.

OP's comment was the board game being "trivial" which it's not. Whether you found it boring or not is your choice.

It being a forshadowing doesn't make it less trivial. It's not a setup, it's just a parallel.

Stick to simple shows like BnHA.

I have 180+ IQ and can confirm it's shit.

If the board game's sole purpose was a parallel, then you'd be right but it's main purpose was the development of Kumogi and Meruem's relationship, which is hardly trivial.

Ok power.

>I have 180+ IQ
>but stupid enough to waste his time on Yea Forums

Sure, it's still trivial.

Then you don't understand what trivial means.

Well, I might be stupid enough to waste my time on Yea Forums, but at least I'm not stupid enough to take shitposts like these seriously. I don't believe you are either, I hope at least.

Just admit that you completely missed the point of his comment. You're embarrassing yourself, at this point.

>characterization of the antagonist is trivial
ok retard

Meruem is just an angsty teenager with superpowers. If he were something more complex, it would be reasonable, but as he is he is jusst a waste of perfctly good ink and paper

>I have 180+ IQ
>but wait... I might be stupid
I rest my case.

He got BTFO so he is now trolling. Just ignore.

Those are some surprising deduction skills. Are you sure you aren't 180+ IQ as well? Especially given the fact that I totally didn't already confirm it was a shitpost. As expected of a fellow hunterchad.

Kys, dubs and op is a faggot

When does a character do anything plot relevant that doesn't make sense?

There are problems with foreshadowing and worldbuilding early on because Togashi dropped entire arc concepts when the hiatuses started and threw in some retcons later on because what he originally planned was just less interesting, emotinally powerful, or thematically relevant than some later idea, but they all can be handwaved, and all major plot twists are character driven.

And even the two biggest asspulls in the manga were based on long-existing mysteries. A fifth Zoldyck family member was mentioned in Zoldyck family and the first picture of Alluka was 100 chapters and like 6 years before she showed up, and the identity/future of Meruem's twin was for long a source of theorizing in the fanbase.

this series has 2 good arcs, the rest is just regular shonenshit

Does foreshadowing explain why the fuck the amnesia arc exists in the first place?

This entire series was garbage. The hack author can't draw for shit and dragged it out so long the series died.

>amnesia arc
Meruem losing his memory? He was reduced to a husk by Netero's bomb & had to take Youpi & Pouf's cells inside him to recover. He lost some part of himself in the process (his memories).

How could you ever hate a face like this?

Attached: 435346346235.jpg (1440x798, 318K)

Theory territory, but:
Facts:
A fifth Zoldyck sibling always existed, and his/her name was always Alluka.
Killua did not remember this sibling.
"Gon and Killua gather clues about Ging" short arcs that would have made the bulk of HxH were greatly compressed into Greed Island after Zoldyck family because Togashi thought people weren't interested in that.
One of the kid characters was always going to fall sick/injured in battle and Leorio was originally going to be the one to go to the unexplored lands in an arc to save them.

Theory:
About two years worth of adventuring went missing because O MY BACK PAIN
Togashi realized halfway through Chimera Ants that Gon was going to be the one to almost die.
And Leorio wouldn't be able to carry an arc on his own at that point due to still being like first year in University.
So Togashi had to rush a way to introduce Nanika.
Hence Needle.

Or if you mean Meruem losing his memory, radiation kills neurons really easily. And Meruem took a nuke to the face.

>the chess game is trivial
This is why the meme that you need more brain cells to enjoy HxH exists. Komugi was the reason Meruem died a human. But people like OP who is only after the fight scenes will find everything else pointless and won't enjoy the show.

>Kinda kills the drama of Gon being all angry
So you wanted Gon to act like he knew the future.

It doesn't get fun until the tournament, then it goes to shit at greed island, then pretty good wgen it hits chimera ant. It's fucking all over the place

I used to rewatch anime before and my rating always drops the 2nd time, so I've stopped rewatching shit. Knowing all the details just kills the fun. You can't compare the experience to the first time.

TLDR: Your 1st rating is your most honest rating.

That's not true at all. A well-written show can maintain its rating with the second watch, or even gain points. There are plenty of shows that I have had greater appreciation for after rewatching. It's the opposite with HxH, rewatching it makes all its flaws more apparent and unbearable.

Maybe for you but no matter how "good" a show was at first, I always like it less on my 2nd watch.

If togashi has chronic back pain why doesn't he go to the doctor?

If he fixed his back he wouldn't have an excuse to not work.

He supposedly fixed it a while ago, but it didnt stop the hiatuses so now its confirmed it was Dragon Quest.

I recently finished this shit too, and while I agree that part of it are tedious, I still enjoyed it overall. Not enough to make me gush like some other series, but still worth my time for the few moments/episodes where it real REAL good for me.

Namely, when Kurapika was kicking ass with his chain magic, that shit was cool. Whenever Hisoka was on screen, same thing but double. Love that smug bastard. Then when you have Netero and his enourmous gold buddha fighting Meruem, that shit got me hype as fuck.
