I've been working out for years before this show came out, but I'm happy to see an anime convince lazy otaku and weebs get off their asses and exercise.

I wonder who could benefit the most from trying to convince young men not to improve their physical fitness, appearance, self image, and confidence.

After your first few workouts you shouldn't be getting sore afterwards anymore (unless you incorporate new routines that hit muscles you've been missing, or you take time off from lifting).
And don't lift to failure unless you know specifically why you're lifting to failure.

The "pain" of lifting is nothing to be afraid of. That pain you feel is uncertainty, wondering if what you're doing is right, if it's going to be effective, if you're going to fuck up somehow. Once you get past that uncertainty, lifting isn't pain, it's pleasure.

Did that to myself once but it only happened because I had just previously done hammer curls and my elbow just sort of gave away. I've never had problems otherwise even when being egged on to try and go way above my comfortable weight. I reckon you're safe as long as you avoid any type of curls just beforehand, it's kept me safe.

1. have time to get the right form

Didn't see anyone write about the stretching reducing strength bit so I searched a few papers on it.
Some say stretching before a workout does reduce strenght, some say static stretching doesn't affect strenght while dynamic stretching actually increases it. In any case, they all recommend stretching after the strenght workout. Many "inconclusive tests", "need further research", "demand more investigation". So many wishy-washy shit they write that contributes next to nothing instead of actually trying to figure this out.
Something surprising to me is one paper mentioned stretching before strenght training can increase risk of injury, because it increases pain tolerance, granting greater motion to the structure limit, which brings it closer to injury. Although with inconclusive evidence blah blah

Depends on your goals. I lost 55lbs over the last year just walking on a treadmill while playing videogames, and pausing to do calisthenics (push-ups, pull-ups, dips, chin-ups) while I played. There great for tone, burning calories, and will build strength, but your not gonna get big if that's what your looking for. I've been going to the gym for a few weeks now, doing an actual lifting program, and I can already see and feel the difference between the two. In short (and this is an oversimplification/generalization), calisthenics are for endurance/tone, lifting is better for strength/size.

How do you handle not being able to lift? I used to work out all the time and I felt awesome, but my body said "fuck you" and developed some kind of chronic soft tissue problem the doctors never found a fix for. I've already been doing ruck marches and endurance training in order to attain a body which can princess carry roughly 80kg. Admittedly, however, dumbbell has accelerated my routine.
