Megumin's character is kind of hard to pin down sometimes, not just because of the tactical use of her chuunibyou to cover for her own behavior sometimes. She sometimes seems very uncaring about Kazuma romantically, then other times seems extremely forward about it and things in general, like distracting him in his puppeted state by making him stare at her panties and getting his dick out after he gets killed by Serena. I do sometimes feel like the Crimson Demons are intentionally written as autists.

Kazuma is scum, and often goes way too far, but he still has a moral compass and can be bothered to do the right thing when pushed.

These reasons are what make it fun to watch. It's honestly surprising that despite how flawed they are, they all remain likeable. A lot of animes either have their characters have only superficial flaws that make characters boring or go too far and make them hateable, but I've always felt Konosuba found the perfect balance.
