You can argue that they're only good when the source material is good to, but that doesn't ateka away from the fact that they've got more great anime in their portfolio than most other studios.

The "source material" argument wouldn't hold, because even a good source material can end up sucking whe0n poorly adapted. They went above and beyond in Alien 9, elevating an interestingly weird manga into a masterpiece. Joshiraku and Flying Witch also look great, while Azumanga single-handedly started a revolution in anime.
