Nearly identical story to Tanjirou except his mom became the demon and his brother tried to push him away. Genya then resorted to eating demons and using a gun. He still can't even use breaths unlike every other caharcter yet he still tries to fight demons. Now he's gonna die as the sacrifice he pushes wind pillar over the edge...

There isn't really "open spots" for Pillars, the series never stated there were a set number of Pillars, like there are a set numbers of Captains in Bleach or Saints in Saint Seiya. At the time they were introduced it just so happened there were 9 active Pillars, when Rengoku died no one said his spot should be filled right away, his father came out of retirement just recently due the emergency Muzan caused, same thing when Uzui retired and now came back on behalf of the same emergency, also before any of those cases there was Zenitsu's master, he retired as the Thunder Pillar but no one was saying there was a vacant spot.

In conclusion the number of Pillars can just be anything, more or less than 9, it is only important to have active and a satisfactory number of them.

Adding to that Pillars can't be set also due the fact new Breaths could end up grooming new talents, such as Mitsuri, I doubt the Breath of Love existed before her, and there's Inosuke's potential case, if he becomes a Pillar it would be something new like "Beast Pillar" as his Breath is completely new despite being fundamentally based on Wind.

What good is range when you can't cut the demon head with a bullet. The shotgun mostly use for stunning. Even if the demon head got blow up by a bullet, it still can regenerate. You have to completely serve the neck by something made by the special metal

The demon slayers are basically the effort of just one single wealthy family dude, they aren't supported by the government, barely any normal person even knows or believes in the existence of demons, so them having loose ranks makes sense in this aspect, after Kagaya died you can even see Himejima and Muichirou talking about how Muzan killed their "2nd father" then cutting to Sanemo crying like a berserker, driving the point further that the Demon Slayers are more like one big family of people with the common goal of killing demons.

She will, Pillar Summit is right after the Spider Mountain arc, the anime will cover the Pillar Summit and maybe a little of the Butterflye State recovery, then it ends.

The anime won't show any of the Pillars fighting beyond Tomioka and Shinobu a bit at the end of the Spider Mountain arc though. So the only hope is for Aniplex to fund more seasons like the bleed money for Fate to ufotable.

I don't think it is ever worth to wait for the animated adaptations to come out if you have the source material easily available, nothing stops you from catching up with the source material then hope for the day more animated episodes get produced sometime in the future.

It's up to you. I personally don't feel like this show is the type where you need to be in pure suspense for what happens next. I have held off reading the manga for other shows like Promised Neverland because I wanted to have something to look forward to every week. And that was more of a suspense/thriller series. For Kimetsu no Yaiba I enjoy the manga more, but the anime is very fun to watch and it's cool to see it in motion and all that.

Several of the main cast come from families completely unrelated to sword fighting and demon hunting though, so Kokushibou would likely not pick them up as looking similar to past people he may have met.

There's only a few people Kokushibou might find familiar like: Tanjiro who comes from a family Kokushibou might know since his brother passed the Breath of the Sun knowledge to the coal burners who made it into the Dance of the Fire God, and there's Rengoku's family who seems to have come from a long line of Flame Pillars.

Whatever it was left the Sunbro feeling like he failed at something, he talks to Tanjiro's ancestor, Sumiyoshi, as if he failed and that he saw something special in Sumiyoshi.

Sunbro is likely the older brother and Michikatsu was the moon who stayed in his shadow, maybe jelously is why he became a demon.

My impressiom is that Kokushibo prefers to turn breath using demon slayers into 12 Demon Moons and Muzan doesn’t like the idea, with was Kokushibo who turned Kaigaku into a demon and Muzan seem to prefer non-warriors as demons (only Akaza and Kokushibo were trained martial artists)

I does seem in line with Muzan's personality, the one that Tamayo paints him out as, she sees him as a big coward despite being so powerful, turning a Demon Slayer into a demon would be something like making your potential killer into an ally, sure it could mean absolute control over the now slayer turned demon but the linering fear of retaliation would remain as Tamayo and Nezuko showed that the grip Muzan has over demons can be overcomed.

I really wonder why the coloring artist from the Digital Color Edtion doesn't do the gradient hair effect Gotouge gave to certain characters, it can't that be troublesome to color them, however Mitsuri's crazy hair scheme is colored as it should be.

I'm rereading the spider arc and it's really so much better than the earlier stuff. It has everything: strong enemies with memorable designs, brutal and intense fights, flashy moves, dramatic moments, character development and emotional payoff. The manga really took off from there.
