Itagaki has REMADE chapter 1 of Grappler Baki. It is being published in two parts; the first was just released. I'm posting the raws for it (the first half) now; we, of course, do intend to scanlate it.
No Dou chapter this week. I thought that there would be one, but there is not. The end of this chapter mentions that the second part of this first chapter will be published in the next issue but makes no mention of Dou. This is a long way of saying that I'll probably have the energy to put out a few more Musashi Dou chapters than usual in the coming weeks.
The mural, of which you have already seen significantly higher resolution versions. I'm not going to dignify this digital release version of it by stitching it together.
Thanks, kind of weird this coming from nowhere. I guess it's cool but he didn't manage to draw young Baki again, he just looks like in dou here.
Liam Wilson
>but he didn't manage to draw young Baki again, he just looks like in dou here I think that was quite the point.
It isn't exactly coming out of nowhere; this is in honour of Weekly Shounen Champion's 50th year.

What was the point of shaking the cola again?

Itagaki is George Lucas now?

From the interview:
In the beginning, WSC called Itagaki to have a meeting. At the meeting, they wanted to discuss having him draw Makeupper in their magazine. He literally couldn't for obvious reasons and also didn't want to draw it (!?) so he told them about his ideas for Baki, showing them sketches of characters and using Giant Baba as hypothetically hiding his true strength as an example for one of the fighters. They loved his ideas. But, it gets more entertaining.
>So, the protocol was explained to me that I would draw a single nonserialized chapter and, if the response was positive, there would be a limited serialization and, if readers showed interest, there would be a serialization; I said no to that. 'If I'm going to do this, I want to start as a new serialization,' I firmly told them (laugh).

>I'd like to continue with Weekly Shounen Champion, but isn't that for the readers to decide? I wouldn't want to continue to be published because I'm a veteran or because of the extent of my contribution; I want to stay with WSC by properly contributing to the sales numbers. That's what it is to be active [as a mangaka].

It really lacks something as a "remade" chapter. A bit too modern Baki and shows the difference between the first series and the more modern stuff, even with the art difference. It's like emotion and nuance has been removed just so Itagaki can draw "porn". Aside from the actual porn ofc.

Tbh I found early Baki really really charming, although his face looked kinda generic for the time I guess? So meh on this one

The audacity of this hoe.
David Powell
He... actually comments on you commenting on that in the interview.
No legal issues in Japan and it's seen as free advertising. The only reason they use mock brands is when the series MIGHT get overseas.
Means nothing to me. My japanese is completely absent.
Juan Rivera
just me or is that face really wierdly hot in some way

I should have prefaced this by saying the interview was done before he actually made the chapter.
>We're going to make it without changing the story and the contents are going to be the same, so the readers will certainly visually compare them. I think that, because it's going to be drawn with the same contents, now, we'll be able to proceed more consciously and carefully, without throwing out ideas. But, I'm sure that there will be some readers who will feel that it's lost its vitality, so it's gotta be quality enough to shut up readers like that.
Luis Fisher
Well, I like it, too. I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out, though.
Adrian Phillips
Itagaki's men are usually beautiful in their own way. The Yak is a great example of this.
