I guess Shounen Jump finally found their version of Detective Conan: a shounen hero that doesn't fight, but instead takes on the challenges within his society with his brain and his vast knowledge of information to advance his story.
the promised neverland runs in jump too if you ever heard of it.
Landon Young
But Conan is a good portrayal of an intelligent character, Dr Stone is not.
Levi Wright
>But Conan is a good portrayal of an intelligent character, I find him to be a good portrayal of a character with access to google & wikipedia.
Eli Murphy
I hate the contrast between a very real application of science to do things like make gunpower, a working pully system and purified alcohol and the idea that a teenager could kill a fully grown male lion in one go. I understand that the story needs a certain level of conflict and author wanted to go for strength vs. intelligence, but it seriously diminished the significance of a grounded serious scientific achievement when people do things that are physically impossible.
Dylan Young
Given that OP is comparing it to Detective Conan, achieving impossible feats is just par for the course. Conan's shoes, soccer ball, suspenders and solar-powered skateboard are all just slightly bonkers.
Bentley Brown
>senkuu kills tsukasa with a bow when he acts up Very exciting
Henry Anderson
Come on user, it's ridiculous to think that a teenager could kill a lion with one blow.
Benjamin Torres
Damn it says a lot about our society when intelligent people like us our cast away.
It is, makes for one hell of an antagonist in the real world. It's sci-fi., there's irl science being done by over the top people.
Charles Rodriguez
it's a manga retard. people couldn't actually get turned into stone for 3700 years, shouldn't that have bothered you too?
Kayden Gray
I hate his hair
Eli Sullivan
>E=mc2 deep...
Jaxson Perez
>complaining about the ecuation thing even after we've explained a thousand times pleb successfully filtered
Blake Richardson
Getting turned into stone for 3700 years is something you would expect from any fantasy setting, some guy counting every second of those years only gets my eyes rolling back, it's tryhard and cringe af.
Robert Barnes
A dude being able to fight a lion bare handed is also something you would expect from any fantasy setting. I don't see the difference
Jose Bennett
Imagine thinking the "explanation" doesn't make it even more sad and pathetic.
Brody White
>ecuation deep...
Ryder Gray
INT based MC are just too rare nowsdays. And im talking about common sense and knowledge kinda INT, not "I know what everyone would do because I read the script" that kind of edge shit.
Connor Sanchez
Onion hair
Blake Hernandez
How does it make it more sad?
Landon Long
It was either that or tsiolkovsky's ideal rocket equation. Everything else is too big for the collar.
Liam Nguyen
Tsukasa is a genetic freakshow user, didnt you pay attention to all the shit he did before the petrification.
Lincoln Hill
I want to fry that hair in a skillet. God I'm hungry.
Leo Clark
Yeah I guess Google helped a lot for his keikakus against the Organization
Nice of HxHfags keep them alive, even though no one asked to.
Matthew Carter
I know right? Hiatuscucks are pathetic lmao
Tyler Hughes
I don't have a problem with his hair in the manga but seeing it in color all the time is bugging me a little.
Jack Jenkins
it's entertainment, a kid's manga
Adrian Sullivan
>one episode of the anime aired >the board spent the whole week talking about it yeah, pretty dead, almost as a 10 month hiatus series huh
Ethan Torres
It's specifically an issue with the anime. The colors we've seen in the manga were all cooler primary colors like steel blue and metallic silver. I don't get TMS' decision with the onion palette.
"dead thread, dead serie" poster are the most pathetic posters in Yea Forums(nel)
Ethan Butler
i can't get out how silly is his design
Ethan Davis
Yeah, I'll pass on it then.
Kayden Clark
I don't read Conan but aren't most of the stories there supremely retarded? There are like 5000 episodes and there's only so many actually logical whodunit you can do. Due to the same reasons he's also been a 6-year-old for roughly seven hundred and forty six years.
Jaxon Green
>Hiatusfag calling any series dead Togashi will die before HxH is finished.
I choose to think if it as already over, and what is happening how is just the bonus chapters that will go on until he runs out of fumes. Gon finding Ging was a pretty good book end.
I GUESS seeing the Dark Continent would be fun but it's not like it's that important.
Joseph Mitchell
You're a dumbass lmfao. Go read the manga for like 20 chapters before you pass judgement. But honestly this manga is wasted on your impetuousness.
Brody Baker
deathnote?
Aaron Myers
Why the characters never ask themselves how they survived 3000+ years not eating? Also did they at least tried to breack the rocks first instead of pouring alcohol or whatever.
Cooper Lee
Ep 2 preview is up
William Clark
both of those questions literally get explained in the next episode
Camden Sanchez
I can't take this manga seriously when the MC has leek hair.
Jaxon Adams
There's gonna be a prologue part following Senkuu where he does allthe thinking about the stone process and explanations, like ep 4 or 5. Or do you want to be spoiled?
Jonathan Moore
Ok, bye
Julian Young
no spoils, thanks i'll wait
Jaxson Carter
I fucking love science and this show, but I dont think I am intelligent enough to understand it all. What does that equation mean on his shirt? Thanks in advance Reddit can't wait to watch more!!!
Short answer, matter can be turned into energy and vis versa. It's one of the things Einstein discovered.
And don't worry, they explained the fuck out of everything in the manga.
Blake Morgan
I find it weirder that he's witnessed like 500 murders
Benjamin Campbell
For the 500th time, they are not just encased in stone, they are turned fully into stone. Trying to "break them out" just results in broken statues and as stone they do not need to eat or breathe.
Alexander Murphy
thanks bud
Ryder White
I agree with you to a certain extent, but the topic that youre getting at is a lot more complex than it seems, and it's certainly far too complex for an user like you to understand, literally just based off of >tryhard and cringe a you seem like you enjoy sniffing various different glues
Nathaniel Gray
E=mc^2 is for retarded pseudointellectuals who has a shallow understanding of anything STEM at best. If you want something intresting, try 0=e^(i*π)+1. I still can't belive its true.
>I choose to think if it as already over, and what is happening how is just the bonus chapters We all have or own coping mechanisms I guess.
Jacob Morris
In general the colors for the anime are too vibrant. Dr. Stone always has this somewhat muted look to its color and I feel like it'd work better. I feel like Promised Neverland's anime did a much better job of matching the color palette of the manga without trying to look exactly the same. But for Dr. Stone it looked like they were just going through the motions. "what color is this supposed to be? Green? Alright grab your green marker. Any marker who cares and color it green."
I was under the impression Boichi specifically requested such backgrounds. Idk, slap a filter over it and let us compare
Angel Watson
Boichi said in his q&a that he sucks with coloring thus this is probably not what he wanted (even if it's better)
Parker Butler
OP is talking about a shounen hero. L doesn't exactly fit the bill, because he dies halfway.
Brody Ross
what are you talking about user? Death Note ended when L died
Brayden Wilson
I dunno the anime just looks so BLAND. Doesn't exactly stand out from a color standpoint.
Henry Cooper
has anyone actually tried to do the experiments from the manga?
Lincoln Miller
yeah, I boiled bleach and it made cool crystals
Benjamin Nelson
RIP Cola user
William Morales
I actually like the vibrant colors, they are in nature as much as you possibly could be. Go check ep2 preview with different locations, doesn't seem as greenish anymore as deep in the woods
Alexander Walker
can you explain?
Brayden Johnson
What kind of experiments does this manga have beside chemistry?
Xavier Murphy
An user tried to make cola from a recipe,he never came back
Aiden Phillips
Jump did an experiment to see if the push could actually make people read a shit series
Aaron Barnes
mangapill me Yea Forums, does it become a battle manga later on?
i want it to keep being a comfy silly story about modern caveman building society from shit they find in the woods, but i doubt it'll stay like that because JUMP
It does not become a battle nanga There are a few fights but they rarely last more than a few panels or pages
Jacob Ward
Kind of a mix. Senku uses his science to bring civilization up enough that he can defend himself but all the people he surrounds himself with are fight happy barbarians. So you'll get a bunch of chapters of Senku big braining problems and then a bunch of chapters of people fighting each other or applying his science in a way that will assist their fighting. Senku himself sucks at it in every way though.
Ayden Hernandez
no, there are very few fights in the series, and most of the ones that do happen are less than a page long
Joseph Baker
most fights are 3-4 panels, currently we're deep in enemy territory playing james bond
Anthony Evans
that sounds good and comfy, having a protagonist that is physically weak and has no special abilities aside from his intellect is a very rare thing for jump mangas, so i'm sold on it
Isaac Miller
Minecraft doesn't go into detail enough for it to compare to dr. Stone. Like primitive technology but on steroids
Carter Long
can someone explain the cola incident? i thought that the recipe was just carbonated water and lemon juice, how is that dangerous?
Ayden Taylor
We don't know, no one wants to try it after that user never came back to us.
Easton Robinson
What cola incident?
Gabriel Jones
>cola chapter comes out >1 brave user declares he will try it out >suddenly stops posting >everyone is shook Now noone dares to try it, please don't be a hero user, you don't need to prove yourself.
Landon Sanchez
You're supposed laugh at it. It's comedy.
William Gonzalez
Started reading yesterday. At chapter 33 right now. Senku is pretty interesting and so are the side characters. I’m liking it.
Aaron Cooper
All characters are great, even if they're evil
Lincoln Nguyen
I’m not sure if I like the anarchist antagonist. Hur dur muh rules we live in a society. Don’t mind him killing boomers and being against a post-modern world is fine. But anarcho-primitism is dumb. So far no complaints yet besides that
There's gonna be a lot of faces, get ready. I like Senkuu cause he's not lawful good, more chaotic good. Exploits loopholes if that means achieving the greater good.
Justin Peterson
The next page is the shitting me page right? >every chapter
Liam Sanders
Why the fuck does this stocky little guy look so smug all the time
James Diaz
because he is smug
Nolan Hughes
He's a lunatic high on life.
Ryder Thomas
If you knew everything at15 the whole existence would seem like a joke
Dominic Watson
Does he ever get interested in women or is he the typical dense mc?
Robert Phillips
how the fuck would anyone survive as a stone for over 3700 years? is it ever explained in the manga? it sounds fucking insane
Zachary Jones
>interested He's way too hyped up for science to stop >dense He knows the women like him, he's got priorities
Luis Perry
>it sounds fucking insane >t.Chrome It's explained, early on5-6 ep of the anime or around chapter 10-12 I believe, not 10 billion percent sure.
I prefer an aware mc who’s not interested over standard dense ones so thats good enough.
Jayden Wilson
spoil me on it please
Nicholas Reyes
>E=MC^2 Jesus Christ is modern anime embarrassing. I dont know how you guys look at this and even decide to start watching. In fact this character looks like parody.
Andrew Long
Get ready to read 20 chapters in 1 sitting, it's gonna hit hard.
Brandon Jackson
it's magic
Liam Russell
It goes into detail, I'm just gonna give you the 101 Everything but your conscience is solidified/turned to stone, every 9 or so days your consxience tries to shut down too, at constant intervals. Thus your body's perfectly preserved if the stone itself does not break. Once you start the depetrification process it needs to seep in through the stone and depetrification begins from the inside out, leaving just a shell We still don't know everything about it, just how it is supposed to work.
Asher Adams
How many episodes does the anime season have?
Isaac Rodriguez
24ish
Xavier Green
24 2-3 chapters per ep we assume
Nicholas Turner
Why the fuck are people so triggered by the equation.
Adrian Ross
Okay so Senku’s dad started the village with 5 other crashed Austronauts? But he isn’t his biological father? Is he where the gaijin genes in the village come from?
Nathan Lewis
Isn't most anime 4-6 chapters per episode? With only 2-3 chapters not much will even be accomplished in season 1. And without a strong lead or a very strong ending the chances of getting season 2 are very slim to none.
Jaxson Evans
>Isn't most anime 4-6 chapters per episode? I've never heard of any anime getting adapted that fast, most are 2-4 chapters depending on how much action there is
Jose Ross
I honestly don't even know how he isn't Senku's biological dad. They have the same damn hair. Spiked tips that are colored differently with a platinum blonde base. Both deeply invested and in love with space.
Landon Reyes
It's not your typical shounen so it's different and spooky and that makes it bad.
Cameron Jones
The dad thing was kinda brushed over, they got weird looks cause incest. So they just made it so. All the austronauts come from different parts of the world and they all fugged eachother like animals
William Bell
Just basing it off 2nd ep preview. 1st ep covered 2 chapters too, even tho chapter 1 was longer, so some might get 2 chapters and other 3.
Brody Barnes
Or is it? Perhaps the true mystery is that the Japanese Government has been covering up so many murders and organized crime, using high "suicide" rates to cover them up.
Ayden Foster
At chapter 47 where they just won the small bridge skirmish against Hyouga. Are they ever going to explain why the rest of the humans follow that Anarcho-primitivist Antagonist? I get that he’s strong and dangerous but I doubt every human he unpretriefies is as edgy as him.
Ayden Cruz
If the cost of additional seasons is rushing through and missing a lot of background detail, I'd rather just have one season animated properly. Preferably to Chapter 45.
most of the people he's unpetrified either agree with him, are too afraid of him to stand up to him like Senku did, or just straight up don't care as long as they manage to survive
Xavier Wright
It's not really deeply explained. It's just like most of the people there are under the impression that Tsukasa and his empire are the only people around, he's obviously quite stronger than everyone else so they are afraid to challenge his authority, and they are also grateful to him for rescuing them from their stone prison. Later on it's revealed that most of them just fall in line with him because it's their only option and they would rather be helping civilization and not hurting anyone. One particular person even states that he was a coward and would let Tsukasa do as he pleased with the stone statues because he didn't want to see any live person die or see any bloodshed and figured that the stone statue people weren't "really" alive. He was disgusted with himself though for allowing it to happen.
Gavin Sullivan
He's super popular, strong, has the formula and calls the shots. They could just go off and die on their own, which is what they don't want.
Nathan Mitchell
Isn't it already confirmed 13 ep? Which means only 26-30 chapters are getting animated.
Luke Hall
I imagine even if they rush it most people will reread the manga to get the full scoop. It has been announced in an interview that they'll change up or blur some dangerous inventions so people don't go off killing themselves, so it's not a mystery.
Noah Rodriguez
As long as they have food and shelter and safety most people don't give a shit who their leaders are.
Chase Martin
Ch. 50 shows it pretty well. He and Hyouga beat down a bunch of people who disagreed with him (and it wasn't the first time), but then Gen also noted the sheer charisma factor.
Why do masses follow clearly insane people like Hitler or Mao? 95% of humanity are sheep.
Brandon Ward
There's nothing pseudo-intellectual about it; he didn't just write it on there because he thought it was cool nor made some random speech that accidentally attributed E=mc2 to "Relativity". It made sense for him to have scratched it on there when he did.
Right after he first broke out and was trying to figure out a way to crack others out of their shells, he was conceiving of the reason why his brain was still functioning for several thousand years in the stone shell - there had to be energy being both consumed and generated from somewhere, some sort of chemical reactions still going on while in the stone form. He could not simply attribute his breaking free as time being up; there were other factors that he could exploit and undo the petrification by force. He spent months alone trying everything he could with only the most primitive means to break others' shells until he finally got it right, during which time "energy can not come from nowhere" was his motivation.
Carson Parker
Gen is so cute when he puts his sleeves together like this.
Brayden Davis
That's why some people went apeshit when they saw him in the OP, man is popular.
Mason Evans
Gen is one of the best characters. He and Senku have really good back and forth and he seems to just get better over time.
Wyatt Cruz
Charisma, Hitler practiced his speeches and arm waving movements to great detail.
Nicholas Green
That's true for pretty much everyone in these threads. You should have picked a different favorite to stand out a bit more, user.
Camden Campbell
I really hope they don't have him speaking Pig Latin in the anime translations like the ones from Viz.
Blake Perry
Why the fuck would Viz make him speak pig latin?
Juan White
Here's the translator's explanation. It doesn't happen really often, but you'd hear it at least once or twice per episode.
We can only hope that the sub doesn't do it. And if crunchyroll subs do then we can just wait for fansubs. Those poor dub anime watching bastards will have to deal with it though when shitty dub voiceover man #341828137 is speaking crappy pig latin in English.
Nolan Moore
Why does he talk like this.
Ryan Collins
>it will take at least 3 seasons to get to treasure island >the first time something seriously bad happens >even if the popularity skyrockets and they decide to keep going with the anime it will probably take at least 5-6 years before we see it Damn. Waiting for anime adaptations is true suffering. With this, Jojo's part 7, and a proper Berserk adaptation that expands on '97s anime I feel like by the time they all come out I'll already be dead from suicide or too old with too many responsibilities to care.
Hitler wasn’t insane, he had charisma and improved the lifes of the average German. That’s not on the same level as waking up after x many years with your memories from the modern world and then having to take orders from some anarchist nutjob.
Ayden Roberts
>5-6 years before we see it Not really i would give it 2 maximum because they can make a 1 cour anime. You can see from Bokuben announcement of S2. Shonen jump wants to have anime airing for its series atlest one in every season (excluding OP).
Easton Sanders
If it's 2 years they will have to add in garbage filler, so now I don't even know if I want it.
John Evans
Not near the latest chapter yet but how I read you guys talking about it I feel like it’s reaching the Basement in Attack on Titan. The entire world and story changed after that
Austin Ward
If you've ever watched Lost, the beginning of the Treasure Island arc is basically the first episode of season 3, it completely changes your view of the previous events
Juan Butler
Charisma and great ideas pull them in at the start but if the power is based on a leader figure no one will be able to really tell them how they loose touch with reality or get paranoid without getting thrown out or worse by their idiotic fans and then it's already too late.
Zachary Jones
Well yeah we are inch from getting the truth about stoning of world.
Juan Hughes
>Jump finally found their version of Detective Conan Except it will never be popular as Conan.
Hudson Miller
He's a GENIUS but in six months of toil that little dump of a house was the absolute best he could do. A fucking boyscout wold have had a log cabin with running lights and bike built from wood and iron. He's "smart".
Dr.Stone should have been an older man who was born from some people who broke free from the stone early and had to rebuild society 500 years after the stoning. The other boy should have been a smart normie "boyscout" kind of guy who worked with his hands and knew a lot of stuff from modern era that no one else knew.
Thomas Lopez
Alright, want to know why I don't like this series?
It's very, very Jump. Very WHOOOOAAAA and catch phrase-y and overreactive and bombastic. I hate to say it, but I'm not a child. Oversimplifying feels like you're just shaking keys at me and making "awe" sounds. At its core the series seems fine but it's so Jump I can't stand it.
Camden Ramirez
It's because he's not a boy scout that he didn't accomplish much, he's a nerdy dude who's all brain and no brawn. Your suggestion basically happens in a couple of episodes anyway, they find a village of people
Luis Hill
He woke up naked with 0 tools, he's weak as shit. He's smart, but useless on his own. I like that
Colton Reyes
I came to terms with that and started liking his 10 billion percent phrase. The jumpiness is barely an issue, the manga has its charm, can't say about the anime It's toned down once the retard leaves and stops annoying Senkuu
I need, like, none of it. I've practically got an allergic reaction to that stuff. Also no fan of WE'RE GONNA MAKE [some modern day thing] but then it's not that. I understand that it's simplifying for kids who would hear "WE'LL BUILD A RADIO TRANSCEIVER" and just go "uh, what, what's a what", I just don't find it great.
Really I'm not going to say it's a bad series, I'm going to unironically say I think I'm too old for it. Not to knock it, and honestly there's plenty of more simple and kid-aimed stuff I'm into, but I've loooooong gotten over Jump's brand of LOUD, LOUD, REPETITIVE, straight to the point style
Nicholas Edwards
I was an eagle scout. There is no way in hell I would be able to create iron on my own in a world thrust 3700 years into the future. You're a fucking buffoon.
>Yabai >Maji Does Gen only do that with two syllable words? While I don't think a verbal quirk like that should be ignored in translation there's got to be a better way than fucking pig latin.
Dylan White
that's not japanese pig latin so much as modern day popular kid obnoxious bullshit, like gyarus and pickup artists saying MENGO MENGO instead of gomen. They do indeed do dumb shit like this, but pig latin doesn't capture it
Read the prologue and forward from that. I can't say it won't happen but Taiju will make you want to die. Or don't read it idk, do what you want
Ryder Price
I've read it and dropped it. I wouldn't have an opinion if I didn't read it, user.
I don't remember when I dropped it. I think it was a decent ways into "Senkuu found the village". I wasn't digging it. I know that meathead boy is annoying and that he was the worst part, but Senkuu's got his catchphrase and WHOOOAAA OVERREACTIONS are still par for the course.
Julian Allen
So the translator translated literally without considering the cultural context, as if gyaru/club kid slang carries the same connotations as pig latin.
Lucas Young
>E=mc2
I don't even get why that's even on his coat. Like why the fuck would you write that down on your caveman shirt?
Or is the author just retarded and went >i need to make his clothes look smart... but he's wearing ooga booga clothes... oh wait, i got it!
I'm pretty sure he's the guy who decided that Camie in MHA should talk like a twitter post, so at least he's consistent with fucking up at translating slang
Parker Diaz
Not a boyscout and also he is using a metal tube.
Austin Williams
>E=MC*2 DUDE
Elijah Brooks
Up to you user, I'm not judging if you have your reasons. Felt the same way in my mid 20's, now I'm 29 and honestly I don't care. Everyone I know has 1 childish hobby they enjoy. They don't need to share it for whatever reason and the world keeps spinning.
Aiden Robinson
>using an iron tube >using 2 leafblowers >has gasoline/lighter fluid >uses a match >has an electric generator and power cords >has the internet to help him through the entire process
Colton Peterson
Ok now do all that without modern technology, a steel tube, and do it on an empty stomach since you still haven't procured enough food for yourself or have a way to preserve the food so it doesn't go bad and you have barely any clothes. Thanks
Gabriel Watson
So is Dr. Stone the Rick and Morty of Jump?
Ryan Peterson
no, Hunter x Hunter is, insofar as it's in Jump
Eli Jones
Both shows are done by TMS, Detective Conan has lost it's luster though. Someone fucking explain how after 1000 episodes, he doesn't gradually age? Even if he were to solve 3 murders in ONE day everyday (which is fucking ridiculous in itself) why the fuck does time not pass by? These stories are considered canon but it makes no sense. A couple years should have gone by after this many episodes.
