I think that why Sanemi have the hardest time to believe Nezuko won't kill people since he have to kill his own mother. Tanjirou success in what he failed.

It's similar but more tragic, while Tanjiro lost all his family except his sister, she became a demon and quickly got over their hurdle by bonding and Nezuko getting over her demon hunger by sleeping. Meanwhile Sanemi lost his family by his own mother becoming a demon who tried to eat him, Sanemi ended up killing his mother and Genya the surviving sibling called his own older bro a monster for killing their mother.

Basically Sanemi and Genya are a potentially worse Tanjiro and Nezuko scenario.

Less likely. If someone ever fought UM and survived, the organisation should have more information about the UM like their abilities or their habits. Something similar to what Kanae told Shinobu. No pillar survived an encounter with an Upper Moon until Uzui, but it was sort of pointed out that the UM would focus on Pillar and let the rest flee.

LN school chapter summary

zenitsu wants to quit the disciplinary committee because he has to deal with so much bullshit every day - from susamaru and her steel balls to the fearsome gyaru ume and her violent brother (whom zenitsu refers to as a siscon because zenitsu is a little bitch), and he's complaining about it to tanjiro during lunch. "tomioka-sensei never listens to me when i tell him i want to quit! he just tells me to dye my hair black and then beats me! whats WRONG with him??"
tanjiro tells him that he should ask on a day when tomioka is in a good mood. zenitsu tries to imagine what a happy tomioka would be like and concludes that it sounds gross.
tomioka is always in a bad mood and most students are scared of him, with the exception of tanjiro and a few others. (tomioka has been in trouble with the PTA so many times that it no longer stands for Parent-Teacher Association, but Parent-Tomioka Association.) but there are rumours about his nice side, for example that he once picked up a stray kitten on a rainy day (no one's been able to prove it, though).

tanjiro says "you should ask him when he's having his favorite food - simmered salmon and daikon radish" and zenitsu is like "WHY do you know his favorite food". apparently tanjiro met tomioka before entering kimetsu gakuen, because he's a regular at the kamado bakery. (tanjiro slips up and calls him giyuu-san at one point)
anyway, tanjiro claims that today's fish dish is salmon and daikon, and tomioka always eats in the school cafeteria, so they should go ask him right now.
HOWEVER, tanjiro was wrong and it was actually hamachi and daikon. zenitsu is so shocked he needs to go to the infirmary.
there they discuss their next move, and tanjiro suggests they ask another teacher to help them talk to tomioka. first tanjiro suggests uzui, the arts teacher, but zenitsu says "rejected! anyone but him! i HATE that guy!!", then tanjiro suggests kyougai, the music teacher, and zenitsu wonders if tanjiro is insane (tanjiro: ?)

there's a side note here about rengoku's popularity as a teacher. he's loved by pretty much everyone. there are also a few comments about him from randos at kimetsu gakuen: "his forearms extending from under his rolled-up sleeves are irresistible" "i want to be his tie pin" "i want him to stay strong and young forever" (that last one..... akaza is that you?). basically, everyone is thirsty for rengoku-sensei.
but where is rengoku right now? they wonder. the curtains of the bed next to zen's are pulled open, and yushiro tells them that rengoku is probably in the library, and can they get the fuck out so he can be alone with tamayo-sensei?, so they do get the fuck out.

they run into rengoku as he exits the school library, carrying a bunch of bento-making books under his arm. tanjiro and zenitsu do some back and forth about who's gonna ask him, and in the end tanjiro does. he's distracted by the books though so he asks if rengoku is married.
"i'm not! i live with my father and mother and brother! why do you ask, kamado shonen!!"
"oh well because of the books"
"oh these", rengoku says, "recently mother has been busy with work so i thought i'd start making senjuro's bento for him"
then tanjiro and zenitsu remember what they're here for and start explaining the situation. however, rengoku completely misunderstands and thinks they want to cook salmon daikon. he invites them to his home so they can cook together. it ends with tanjiro getting distracted again, starting to discuss the nutritional value of salmon and daikon radish. zenitsu is completely forgotten.

after school, zenitsu and tanjiro are sitting in aoi's family's restaurant, and zenitsu is in despair. he wants to go to a world where there is no tomioka-sensei. shinobu-senpai comes over, asking what's wrong.
shinobu has the nickname "poison princess" at school because she's rumored to be making odorless, dangerous poisons in the school lab. not many teachers dare to tell her off.
she listens to zen's story and hums and nods, and then she says "well, tomioka-sensei is easily misunderstood and that's why everyone hates him. but i think that he's truly happy that you help him out so much, zenitsu-kun. thanks to you, we have a peaceful school. work hard! i'm your biggest fan!" and she grabs zenitsu's hands and smiles.
zenitsu is like YES!!!! I WILL!!!!!!!!!!! (that's how easy it was.........)
the next day zenitsu is feeling optimistic and greets tomioka, saying "i will do my best today, sensei!" only for tomioka to tell him to shut up because it's forbidden to yell in school. and so zenitsu is back crying and complaining to tanjiro, as always. THE END

It can though, Muzan/UM1 don't have to be defeated this arc. But either way, my point is just that we don't know for sure.

You know why Kimetsu inherently can't have the longevity of the other generic shonen manga everyone wants it to be? It's because the bad guys have to die. You can't have any defectors which makes the whole formula impossible to keep going. The hero can't keep adding reformed final bosses to his squad to keep powering up his side as stronger and stronger final bosses are introduced. Instead, his allies are finite and can get killed and his enemies will always die. You can't even get recurring villains without enemies who flee at the end of a confrontation to save themselves (Akaza/Muzan).

The story justifies it by having most of the Upper Moons commit suicide. The point is it ruined the whole narrative, the power creep had to happen too quickly. Yes, there were month-long timeskips where characters were fighting other demons, but we never got to see that. By the standards of this very manga, all the kids should have already been Pillars, but somehow the manga tries to tread the line of them being too weak to be Pillars but strong enough to kill Pillar fodderizers.

They beat pillars because the swords they use are hax and work on any demon.

I honestly think the reason for them not being pillars is mainly due to their lack of experience and the man himself didn't really have time to start picking them since he was busy dying. It's also pretty visible that both the Moons and the Pillars are a very unbalanced bunch to begin with.

You gotta kill many, many demons by yourself or a an active Moon to become a Pillar, that is at least one of the requirements, the fodder hunters in the Spider Mountain alluded to this, and so far none of the main trio has accomplished this.
- We don't know the exact number of solo kills each of them has aquired in the offpanel training session.
- None of them has solo'd any active Moon before, all the Moon kills were group efforts, some with a Pillar present to help. Technically only Zenitsu has a solo Moon kill, and even that was immediately excused by Yushiro saying Kaigaku had barely gotten used to his demon powers, he was a Moon almost in-name-only.

but that's no what is happening? Did you miss the whole point of the Pillar training that was happening before Muzan came knocking? Kagaya ordered the Pillars to personally train select Demon Slayers in several fields to see a way for the Mark/Demon Crest to manifest, that in practice is basically the wake-up call that the boys are one step from becoming Pillars.

One has to remain breathing by the end of the current fight to even dream of that.

Kagaya was also busy dying so he couldn't exactly review the candidates.

From a character design perspective KnY has way way way more appeal for artists. Wani's sketchy art style is more inviting than Tabata's more refined linework. It's not as fun to draw characters who already look nice in their canon. Sketchier styles provide impetus for novices and pros alike; pros can provide more technical competence to the designs, novices can feel less pressure because the source isn't Michaelangelo. I love both BC and KnY - as well as their respective mangakas - but I've put hours into KnY fanart and not even a minute into BC stuff.

For aforementioned reason, but also because BC's character designs - with few exceptions - are FUCKING BORING. Asta's design says almost nothing about him, except that he's poor or something? There is nothing that conveys anything about him as a person. His hair, God. Senku takes the cake for dumb hair, but Asta's isn't better. What is the visual cue there, he cut it himself? He doesn't care about it? Even the headband before it got turned into BB merch had nothing personal to it. And with the Black Bull's uniform, if you're going to use it as an accent, you have to make his actual civilian get-up more interesting. I assume he doesn't have more intricate clothes because he's poor (but Yuno has nicer clothes?) or he doesn't care about clothes, which is fine, but that isn't obvious. Plus his color palette is so dull and unsaturated. There's nothing eye catching about him. And when you make choices like that you have to rely on the character's personality to attract likability - which I think Asta (fucking ear-rape VA not included) mostly does.

Tanjiro's design, on the other hand, is full of personality. KnY, like Bleach, did the smart thing with the uniform - they made the uniform the primary clothing and allowed personality in the accents. The checkered pattern is bright and eye-catching and incites curiosity. Literally, does he have a checkered past? It looks like a game board, is it synonymous with an overarching theme of outside forces surrounding him, blanketing him? Is he just a pawn? These were some of the (admittedly far-fetched) asspulls I assumed when I first started reading. His earrings are connection to his family, to tradition, so we know he takes that sort of thing seriously. He has a head scar, is he a clumsy idiot or was he abused? His hair cut was explained, so even though it's simple it has canonical meaning.

Anyway, the point is Nezuko is the best girl.

Only him and Snake are hostile to Tanjirou, and the latter only does it due to him getting close with Kanrouji more than anything, while the former' actions are shown to be more of hostile in nature(stabbing Nezuko, beating Genya). I doubt any backstory can explain that amount of blind tard rage (unless it's something about him getting dropped as a baby).

Does anyone have any theories on why the new gen hunters except Tanjirou aren’t getting the mark? Like I still am trying to figure out just how the hunters managed to defeat upper moon 2 with absolutely no marks at all. Yes i am aware that Kanao had the final form of flower breath and Shinobu’s whole kamikaze plan but upper moon 4’s fight literally forced the mark on Tanjirou and Mitsuri and they were still gonna lose if it wasn’t for Nezuko’s regeneration denial

It either means Zenitsu, Inosuke and Kanao won't get them, or the recent fights weren't as the pinacle of their character development as they seemed to be, as in they could have more important fights to force the mark upon them later.

Douma's defeat all boils down to how careless he was during the fight, you underestimate your opponent, you might lose to simple mistakes, simple as that.

Kanao and Zenitsu are spent this arc too so Genya is the last possible candidate and hes certainly the least likely.

A lot of things seem to be pointing to the end of the series but none of the main cast getting the mark besides Tanjirou certainly is a flag that this might not be the end.

spoilers mentioned the koku said that genya is like one of the special swordsman from the past so the senses does hold some weight

While i agree with everything you said I just don’t see how they will be able to get another opportunity. Who else will they fight? They’re all out of commission and there are only 4 villains left in the series maximum (muzan who is most likely being left to himejima for the time being, nakime who is most certainly dying to the two pillars she is facing, kokushibou as we know has to deal with three pillar level hunters and a potential UM5 who will probably be assigned to nezuko).

It just feels off that they all went through pillar training which was set in place for the purpose of marks and it looks like they won’t get them. However I am aware this is probably not their last fight but defeating douma with literally no marks at all seems weird

I like Tengen’s a lot, the idea of this flashy asshole that wears eye makeup(?) and wears a lot of diamonds and jewels but has THREE wives and is kind of a thug is really interesting to me. I like Douma a lot, especially his eyes; they’re multihued which I think is meant to reflect the ‘beauty’ he sees. Plus the obvious blood-splatter patterns, this dude has killed a lot of people and displays it proudly. I like the shirtless beefhead Akaza as well. I assume the lines are tattooed, but even if they aren’t they’re thick and direct and I think they are good indicator of his stubborn commitment to his own cause, even though there are so many lines that he has a hard time choosing which path to take. But Nezuko’s design is the most awesome to me. I like the duality of the ivy pattern, which symbolizes that she’s stuck, grounded and rooted into being a demon even though her body physically gets bigger, which I think means she isn’t finished developing as a person. I like too that she’s moderately sexualized, it makes me curious as to whether or not she’s going to start resenting Tanjiro for babying her and treating her like something he has to save or if she’s going to remain childlike and naive even after becoming a human - and having been robbed of a real, human childhood - again.
