Say this for 20 more years and the world might actually believe it. I love Fire Punch, it was refreshing to read and discuss. I like how there weren't any cliches that I could pick apart and ruin my experience. Every character felt unique. It may be have been some time since I read something like this, so that might just mean I read only cliched trash. The concept that the Agni acted as protagonist > god > brother > san made clear to me that Fujimoto wanted to say it is not important who you are, but your role. The characters actions ended up being a reflection of their role. Everyone around them that didn't have insider knowledge only thought of Agni's actions in relation to being who ever he was at the time.
