So who do you guys think is going to kill Upper moon one? I want to say it's going to be one of the pillars but I think the best suited for fighting/weakening him is Genya. Dude has a gun and can eat demon meat.

UM1 can behead Genya in the blink of an eye without letting him taste even a bit of his meat, it obviously will be Tanjirou because of story reasons.

My guess is: Weakened by Himejima, defeated and ultimately killed by Tanjiro.

The only thing remotely close to these claims are the fact that it was called "fire thunder god", which IIRC was called after an specific type of thunder.

But Tanjiro has been weakened due to his fight with Akaza. There's been this theory going around that all of the 5 new demon slayer graduates each have a skill related to the 5 senses. Tanjiro is smell, Zenitsu is sound, Kanao is sight, Genya is taste(because he eat demon), and not sure about this but I think Boar is touch. So far most of the graduates are wounded and in no condition to fight, all but Genya whose gun can be used to shoot Upper Moon One's eyes out.

UM1 is conected to Sunbro's and the entire BoTS lineage story-line by extention, he won't be defeated in this arc without exploring his link with Sunbro and Muzan first. Your mistake lies in thinking that he'll be defeated in the same way that Douma was.

Thoughts about the pillars?

Obanai and Mitsuri vs Nakime while probably not considered as hype as some of the other fights, is without a doubt one of the most important fights going on right now. If they win, they will dispel this dimension and all the demons including Muzan will be vulnerable to Sunlight again.
