is it really that great? I watched 2 episodes and found it boring

I didnt care much for it either. If you still dont care for as much as the zombie episode just drop it.

I love the little references they throw in here and there. Was the zombies episode a reference to warm bodies or was it a coincidence?

It really is that great. Give it like six episodes and if you still don’t like it then drop it, but I bet you’ll feel differently. Keep in mind that this is one of the very very few series that is probably better to watch in English than in Japanese, so if you’re watching the sub I recommend trying the dub

Dandy himself might a little better, but the rest of the cast is meh.

It's a very episodic show with different episodes having very different tones and themes. You'll have episodes that you hate and episodes that you love. There are a couple though that really define the show and most people love.

The only episode I found kind of boring was the planet of the dead. Most of the others are at least funny, although I guess the SoL-ish episodes could be both comfy and boring.

the show has an insane amount of variety in terms of tone, themes and even animation. The fun from the show comes from seeing what the hell will happen on each episode and how the cast interacts with the different settings.
What I can definitely say is that the first few episodes are not as interesting as the rest, but when you get to season 2.

The sad thing about the episodic nature of the series is that some characters you do want to see again(penguin loli, for example) never return.

QT is better in the dub. The autotune voice was nice.
The main three are as good as sub or better, but as usual funimation only have like 5 people to do background characters or they got some random off the street.
