It was my fist anime, I watched it every morning before going to elementary school. I remember tearing up on some episodes when I grew older (reruns)

(I'd still say go for the original Japanese dub. Re-dubbed things in German tend to sound a bit stilted and unnatural.)

I know what you mean, I would never watch anything dubbed in my native language.
Still, there are some very well done german dubs, Paranoia Agent for instance
