Why is Stone Ocean so hated

Lack of good characters, story, fights or art

Jolyne was one of the more developed and realistic protagonists within the series. Pucci was an excellent villain. Weather Report was one of the best side characters in the series. And finally, the last six arcs (Bohemian Rhapsody to Made in Heaven) were utter bliss. But it has more problems than parts 4-7. The minor antagonists were far better than Part 3, but a huge step back from Part 5. A third of the way into the part it became extremely inconsistent as it pertains to the quality of fights, with conflicts like Guard Westwood and Foo Fighters vs Pucci being 10/10, and others like Yo-Yo Ma and Green Baby that were among the worst in the entire series. In addition, it probably has the weakest setting out of all the JoJo parts, and the weakest Jobro since William Zeppeli. Stone Ocean is a really great manga. But it suffers astronomically due to being sandwiched between the four best parts of the series.

I found most of the main cast to be compelling characters. Jolyne is everything fun about young Joseph, but with more interesting ruses and some genuinely amazing character moments and character development. Going from a angsty chick in jail to someone who will sacrifice herself without hesitation to stand up to MiH Pucci was a cool transition to see. Speaking of Pucci, he was also a major draw. Seeing a villain who genuinely thinks what he's doing is right, and the amount of valor, sacrifice and emotion he puts into it, while still being utterly awful, was really compelling. I also liked the rest of the cast. F.F. explored the nature of personhood, and I genuinely found her death to be one of the most tragic events in the entirety of Jojo. She'd just started to learn how to be someone other than a guard dog, started to learn who she was and what she wanted to do with her newfound consciousness, and then it was all stripped away. Ermes was great when she was present (the Limp Bizkit fight was cool), Weather was... interesting, albeit one of the weaker supporting cast members and Anasui was a meme goldmine. Plus, I know people complain about Dragon's Dream and Yo-Yo Ma, but Planet Waves was great. Jail House Lock was great. Sky High 'I'm going to set myself on fire to defeat you!' was badass as hell.

I'll admit Stone Ocean does have some major flaws. I'm not a huge fan of how the relationship between Jotaro and Jolyne was handled, the ending could have been about 10 more chapters, and I think more could have been done with DIO's sons. Overall, however, I do think the good outweighs the bad.

Araki actually remembered how to write good fights. Changed the art style from the GAR of old to a more accessible and goofy looking one that screams 90's, before going full GAY. Slice of Life with stands made it the most comfy Jojo.

Also the mc befriending and not killing his enemies served for some interesting interactions; instantly made everything more realistic and relatable, and is overall a great idea.

I'm serious. I don't watch anime youtubers. It's only part 6 that I feel strongly so. They don't feel like a person with justifiable motivation. They feel like a random fashion showcase with some stand that Jolyne has to fight because Pucci said so.

I just finished part 7, It's superior to both 5 and 6, but he ending of part 6 is better executed and explained.

Yeah that's true but did you forget about Risotto's gang? They make up for an interest 3rd party. I still prefer part 7 antagonists overall though.
