SnK became popular despite its unorthodox tropes, not because of them. Vinland may be as popular or more popular than Snk. Maybe it won't be popular at all. Neither of these outcomes detract from the reality that Vinland has much more tropes that appeal to normies.
Also let's be honest. One of biggest reason why SnK became popular in the first place was the 1st opening and the memes it created. That's unrelated to the actual show, yet it made it more popular.
