Did you people like the movie ? I was told it was a masterpiece but I watched it and I personally did not like it very much. What about the film you like ?
5cm/s discussion thread
I see it's on YouTube. Its one of those where I want to watch but just haven't yet for some reason
I watched it a couple weeks ago. Felt like it was a copy and paste of Your Name, or I guess Your Name was a copy and paste of it. Does Shinkai just make the same movie over and over again? How does he keep getting away with it?
beautiful art makes you forget what happened after you finish the movies. Like being in a trance and tripping on LSD colors.
meh.
The ending also felt like straight out of a NTR doujin.
>Does Shinkai just make the same movie over and over again?
Coming of age seems to be the theme for a lot of them but I feel he does enough different with it each time. Garden of Words was the only film by him I didn't particularly like.
It has some generic forgetable plot. Watch it for visuals.
I felt blueballed after watching it
I'm pretty sure this holds my personal record for 'most times wristwatch checked during a movie'.
I liked swimmer/surfer girl. She was a much better girl for MC and the fuckhead couldn't see it.
How the hell could you like Beyond The Clouds / A Place Promised In Our Early Years more than Garden of Words?
I just didn't really like or care about the characters in it, and it didn't really have anything beyond that. It felt the most minimal thing he's done, but without the briefness that made She and Her Cat good. Also I can barely remember the OST which was often a strong point in his films before that.
I still rate it above Hoshi no Koe, but I don't feel as harsh towards that due to it mostly being a solo work.
Watched it a while back. It was alright, heard the manga was better. The visuals were stunning, I’ll give it that.
>Does Shinkai just make the same movie over and over again?
He unironically does
5cm/s used to be cocksucked exactly the way Your Name gets cocksucked now, but anime wasn't so normalfag friendly back then so it was just weebs who cocksucked it.
Watched it too long ago. I was drunk and sitting in a fiat minivan's back
I remember visuals being good but no idea about the story. The train part was nice tho. I wish I had a real life
Watched it years ago so I don't remember much aside from the general outline of the story. I thought it was alright.
They should have been run over by the train.
It's a garbage romace plot with pretty pictures and animation, just like all of Shinkai's works.
>The ending also felt like straight out of a NTR doujin.
You need to chill out, it's nothing like that
Mine is actually 1250 cm/s
The ending made me feel empty inside.
>montage of all the happy moments they shared together
>MMC is walking through through the streets depressed af
>Meanwhile FMC is happily married/in a relationship with a FACELESS man
Yeah, totally.
The more I watched the more I disliked it, because I keep finding flaws and the terrible storytelling. Good for normies because they can "relate" to the story, therefore it's good.
I liked it, the ending wasn't that sad, mc moved on with his life
Actually no, he never did move on. The girl moved on. The guy was still looking at the train crossing hoping she'd be there.
I first watched it when I was a teenager and "new" to anime. It was a cryporn 10/10 masterpiece/
Then I rewatched it about a month ago and it was ok I guess, Nothing particularly special. Plot was alright and the characters really weren't special.
