Narratively that only works if the unpopular bullied guy is actually obsessed about - or feels an inferiority complex towards - the popular guy. Otherwise it'd just be odd. But this would also make the MC seems like a utter loser to the audience. Unless people are into seeing endless suffering, there'd be no point in reading such a story.
I myself in particular am sick of weak MCs who are weak AND dumb for like 95% of the story and then have perhaps one big battle in the last 5% that doesn't feel like it was worthy pay-off in the slightest. Imagine Tales Of Abyss, but Luke only gets his "I need to change" moment right before the last boss. Who'd want to read/play/watch such shit?

they started with Hajime being trapped in the labyrinth with occasional flashbacks, didnt even showed the part where they are getting isekaied, only the dungeon part and the Kaori night visit scene
focus seemed to be establishing Hajime as an edgelord as quickly as possible, his voice went under a quick puberty

I don't even care about the isekai and revenge part. This was legitemately bad, it was too dark, and not mean edgy I mean dark, as in why the fuck is happening because I can't see a shit because is so dark. Also almost everything was static shots of inanimate objects or status screen and the few parts with characters or monster on screen had barely any animation, even the "action" were just some rpg maker tier effects.
