So who attended anime expo?
What was your experience?
pretty lackluster this year. Was kinda dissapointed. It was better last year.

2019 has been a shit year. 2020 ought to be something more interesting with the dawn of a new decade.
Are cons a meme?
T. Going to local con this month
Before this gets 404, what is the event for? Is new anime announced? Is there any premiere? Is there any unique material to buy?
Trigger announced their latest show.
Is it your first one? AX is an overall bigger one however I always preferred the after parties of smaller cons.
They are fun,or that's what i remember, haven't gone to a con in years.Just be ready to endure some of the most annoying people you will ever meet and bring a gasmask
AX always looked way to big for my liking
This year was my first time and I only attended to see Aqours. I walked by a crowd of people and legitimately threw up a bit in my mouth
Are there any stories of massive orgies at AX like at other popular cons?
AMV was shit because every good editor save one boycotted it because they sacked the coordinators for no reason. They also sacked a bunch of staff for no reason so there was a power vacuum. They're also trying to become an even more jew charity so they can get more money. Also they fucking don't care how shit their con gets because they still make money.
Also this was my fault and I feel no remorse.
The line to get in on Thursday was kind of a cluster fuck. My friends and I got to it late morning, and it had already gone about a block past the Staples Center. At the time we got in line though there were no con ops present, so it wasn't clear right away what the line was for exactly. Also kinda frustrated that the side entrances were fenced off (Like at West Hall where the food trucks usually are. I missed 2018 so I don't know if it's something they just started or not). After Day 1 though the lines were much better managed. Despite my complaining, overall I enjoyed my time there with my friends but gradually it's gotten more and more crowded and as I'm getting older I'm not sure how appealing AX is going to look for me going forward. I may just go with smaller cons closer to me like Fanime and Crunchyroll Expo
I went this year and it kinda sucked
Somebody at the Made in Abyss panel asked the Japanese voice actors if they could see her panties during the Q and A portion
The size issue always sounds like a California problem to me not a lot of large anime cons in Chicago.
only reason to go there is to watch aqours
California also has quite the large Asian population so you gotta add that into the equation.
I walked around alone the whole time because I have no friends and am too fucking scared to approach anyone. If not for the screening of Promare, which was a 10/10 movie by the way, I'd say the convention was complete shit (acc no it was shit anyways.) There was nothing to buy that I wanted. All the merchandise on sale was from over hyped seasonal shit or well established franchises I already own shit from (eva, monogatari series.) There were too many people to make walking though the crowded exhibit halls an enjoyable experience. The Trigger panel was the only decently put together panel I sat though, and everything else fucking sucked. I sat though the jojo panel to get a better seat for Promare and it was literal fucking cancer. Some faggot behind me kept playing roundabout on his phone and making shitty jojokes. On the first day of the convention I waited 4 hours to get in because I didn't know some lines have more lanes than others and go faster. Fuck conventions, I'm never going to another convention again. I want to die. I have no more fucking money. Fuck literally anyone who consistently wastes their money on this shit every year. Therese literally no reason to ever go to a convention more than just once, even if your a hypefag.
one of the worst AX's in a long time
Had to wait in line for 3 hours to get into the south hall on Thursday so that fucking sucked. At least the weather was way better than last year.
>tfw almost no yuru yuri merchandise
it's where you go to (attempt) to make IRL anime friends.
There was a rumor that a whole bunch of AX staff walked off the job but I didn't hear aout coordinators getting sacked.
whats the backstory? why did the editors boycotted?
I only went for a couple days in 2018 (saturday and sunday) and those 2 days were waaay better than all 4 days for 2019. There wasn't as much stuff this year.
>scared to approach anyone
Don't worry, you did them a favor not having to talk to an unhygenic NEET who can only say socially inappropriate sentences.
I only showed up Saturday.
Saw the Hibike movie and Eva 3.0/New movie teaser.
I don't see the point in going more than one day.
I liked the anime man vs gigguk. Better then all the industry panels advertising their blurays (looking at you aniplex)
Literally no one seemed to know that you could get into the joint from the underground car park of the convention center that you could walk in from off the street. Allegedly it was only meant for artists and employees but they had the whole sec checkpoint and everything.
tldr saw a 3 hour line on Thursday and walked about 100 ft to an empty entrance underground. absolutely based.
I went in 2017. Never been to a big con before.
It was ok I guess. I've never seen so many ironic weebs in my life though.
I'd only ever been to AX and Anime North (one of the biggest cons we have in Canada) before this year. I finally went to a smaller one that they throw at a mountain ski resort during the summer off-season and it was awesome. The whole villiage is just one big party, way more fun than those bigger ones.
I went in 2016. I'm gad I went before it got so fucking overpriced and corny I don't think I'll bother anymore since more cons in LA have sprouted up in the last couple years. anime pasadena, ronin-expo, anime california, and hentaicon to name some. I went to the first one on 4/20 and bought a noriko figure. I'm planning on going to anime california which is at a hotel, fucking going to the skeevy ass convention center with it's elementary school bathroom ass floors. it's kind of weird because it's at a marriot and I knew an online weeb personality, not an ironic one and OG one who obviously used to post here, who killed himself in one. didn't bother with ronin-expo because I didn't feel like being outside all the time which it is. also planning on going to hentaicon in november.
>It was better last year.
And last year was worse than the year before that.
Really makes you think.
Admittedly, I didn't go this year.
>Is new anime announced
I'm actually surprised by the amount of shit they announced there.
maybe, maybe, yes.
That new anime with the Final Fantasy artist guy they showed in the Closing Ceremony looks like crap.
Oh yeah, and the lines to get into the convention center were completely fucked on Thursday with insufficient workers outside to manage them.
I just can't deal with the cesspool of normalfags anymore
Any chance a video will be put online? I opted to wait in line for the Closing Ceremony instead...
Do yourself a solid and just end it all, Autismo Jones
well could he?
>>/cgl/
Reminder that the only interest you should have in AX is new anime titles being announced. If you actually go there to buyfag, see "e-celebs" or cosplay, you should probably kill yourself.
Was this the first time there's been an 18+ section of the Exhibit Hall as opposed to just Fakku and J-List's walled booths? I don't recall it before, and I was pleasantly surprised by its appearance, though it seemed like they're were holding back the degeneracy aside from a few games like Loveless being sold. I wonder what the chances are that they'd also introduce an 18+ section to Artist Alley, given the prominence of porn artists online. Sakimichan at least had an extra booth selling the naked versions of her work in the 18+ Exhibit Hall section, but she has generally been a residence of the Exhibit Hall instead of Artist Alley anyway.
I bought Shindol's book
nope. they've had it years prior. This year sucked. Last year was awesome because they had a shit load of hentai (more than this year) vr sex stuff and so many japanese sex toys/dolls etc... It was awesome. This year the 18+ section was complete shit. They expanded the section since it was smaller last year but no real substance.
One thing I noticed this year was sooo many dudes were dressed as female characters. You would think it was dragcon (which coincidentally occured a month prior in the same convention center)
Seriously? is this the future of male anime lovers? Dressing as female characters and being feminized?
Huh, it apparently does exist on the 2018 Exhibit Hall map, but I guess I never noticed it in its side location. 2017 map doesn't highlight such a section, though, but then it also doesn't show the weapons section that surely existed.
For as many risque statues that are on sale in the Exhibit Hall, I just realized that the 18+ section didn't have any naked ones. Saw one with bare boobs tucked away deep in one of the general merch booths, though.
At least 18+ had a couple of nude body pillows, although just of characters originating from hentai.
