Did this ruin manga for anyone else? Nothing else compares.
Did this ruin manga for anyone else? Nothing else compares
I didn't care for it.
>muh deep story
>reading manga where 80% of any panel is a filtered photo
It's my favourite manga, but I wouldn't say that much
stop sucking Asano's dick and read more stuff
but yeah, it's a really good manga but you start to notice a lot of bad things when you re read it
The early drama around the family was good, but the later parts around making manga and the cult were boring garbage with a final arc that barely made it better.
Also, I don't give a shit about symbolism, so big part of the series was meaningless to me.
Solanin and Nijigahara Holograph are both better
Lowkey Ozanari-kun might be my favourite Asano manga
not so fast punpunigger
Not really, I found most manga to be trash before I read Punpun.
What ruins most manga for me is how there's a sort of art style set in stone in character design and even when it portrays emotions. The shade over the eyes when a character is about to yell some emotional shit. The "creppy" smile when a character is revealed to be evil. The gigantic sweatdrop on the back of the head. A lot of them just seem like made by following a formula.
Cuckshit
Try girl on a shore. That kinda set the bar higher for me.
If I wasn't mourning the death of a loved one that would have made me laugh. Thank you, user.
Literally no one says Punpun is "deep" for the story.
Yes, after reading it I lost my hope in the medium and just abandoned the industry.
Tie the noose yet?
i second this, after the family stuff it feels like punpun becomes a harder asshole with every chapter.
I liked seki's story though
I can't really get into Asano's stuff. Too much overwrought melodrama.
Very boring art and paneling.
Only seems deep for people who have never experienced the shit he did. Useless and just another reminder of shitty reality for people who have either experienced what Punpun has or have been around shitty circumstances like him.
>seem like made by following a formula
They are. It's Japanese culture to follow tried and true formulas. Breaking the mold is rare.
>Breaking the mold is rare.
Yes. Asano himself sort of talks about this in Reiraku. A senior mangaka berates him for not honoring tradition
kill yourself plebbit
>Only people who havent read it say this
Get out
its impact varies person to person
What's it about? Why is it good?
asano is a brain damaged tranny and it shows reading this manga
Not really, it's fairly typical melodrama. I think Punpun's popular only because of great artwork.
Now Joe, he genuinely ruined sports, drama, shonen and even Hajime no Ippo to me. Well, ruined in a way that I don't think Hajime no Ippo is just the best sports manga anymore.
Why did Punpun ruin Aiko's life?
this thread is retarded
fuck you Yea Forums
Read a summary of it on tvtropes a long time ago, this postmodernist bullshit is why I try to avoid any story that tries to be deep nowadays. Suffering for no reason other than to repeat the same fucking lesson of "life sucks, reality sucks, you have no power to change any of this so deal with it". It's not really the narrative itself that makes it hate it, but the absence of any other narrative in a supposedly deep and plot-heavy story that isn't drowned out by the obnoxious nihilism the author has.
You want a truly soul-crushing manga?
Read Kurosawa, not this garbage
It's the sad story of a life gone to waste, of a human being essentially falling out from society due to a shitty childhood, and the tragic consequences.
Not that I even like punpun but how can you possibly think you're an authority on anything you haven't read?
I was only making a general statement. Nothing in my post is meant as a directed jab towards punpun, it's just what I think of when I hear "deep, mature and thought provoking story", and from what I can tell this manga isn't that much different itself. Feel free to prove me wrong
How the fuck are you supposed to tell without reading it first faggot
Kinda yes. I struggle to find anything as good.
I got triggered by the summary I read is all, but feel free to actually attack the meat of my post any time
no, attack on titan ruined everything to me
Kinda. It makes me remember that hipsters are manga readers too.
A 'mature' series for teeangers. You know, the kind of story that sounds deep and mature when you are a teen. The idea is to talk to your friends about how you totally don't read shonen (that's for kids!) but 'deep' and 'symbolic' series for adults.
>one piss fag has shit taste
Of course
>Did this ruin manga for anyone else?
Yeah, for a while. I had to take a short break from reading any manga because I was recoiling from how shit Punpun was
more like 6/10 wasted potential fucking asano man why can't he give me the big cum feel I know he has the potential
Baby's first drama. Not even best in its' genre.
Punpun isn't nihilist
Have you read it? The whole point of this manga is to attack edgy nihilistic teenagers and to tell them to get their shit together.
do provide examples of better mange in the genre?
What's the best in its genre?
