It was pretty kino overall

i liked it, if anything for the choker-piano thing and the shitstorm it caused. I found the other two movies too boring, at least this one was entertaining.

Flashy but boring, still creating new questions about just what the fuck is going on with reality and Wille is pulling new technobabble out of their ass, I didn't want more of Mari's flopping tits, I wanted to see what was going on with the main three, and the bootleg Eva units are getting more and more gimmicky and it makes me wonder if they've just run out of good ideas.

up until 3 the rebuilds were just a flashy retelling with the hint that it was all happening all over again after end of evangelion

then 3 came and it was something entirely different

this. they're just reusing assets at this points, reused positron rifle, reused eva torsoes and legs. If it's something new, it's static and void of any moving parts

One of the few. The movie was trash. Nothing happened, nobody acted with ANY kind of intelligence, and the movie was way too long.

I hate Kaworu and in this one he is even worse because he seems like a groomer(and probably underhanded co-conspirator with Gendo) and I still liked it.
I don't even think Wille fucks delaying actually sitting down and talking to Shinji is all that unreasonable given the situation. Resetting Rei yet another time is kind of annoying but I see the point of doing it to drive Shinji's despair even further

The movie abandons logic and character interaction and substitutes it with a bunch of symbolic imagery to the point where you stop caring because it all seems "fake"

NERV HQ is maze of neat imagery that is devoid of all functionality, there are thousands of bicycles scattered around, a piano in the middle of nothing, a phone that doesn't work, food is dispensed from a slit in the wall etc.

What made NGE work was that it took it's time to build up a functional world and realistic character interactions, as an example while EoE is happening it still cuts back to the characters in Central Dogma having a gun-fight and desperately trying to survive.

In 3.0 on the other hand you have shit like this or Fujutkis shogi game that's happening in a formless black void.

No, IMO it felt the most "fresh" and Eva-like out of the 3 Rebuilds.

1.0 is just a standard repaint and 2.0 was pure fanservice dribble.

Gendo and SEELE are within a backup-Wunder of their own, hence the levitation.
SEELE embedded their souls/brains into tang monoliths so that they could hijack 4th impact away from Shinji and Kaworu, via the use of Eva Mk. 9 and the missing brain portion of the Key of Nebuchadnezzar
SEELE were then going to use Mk. 9 to overtake Wille's Wunder, in order to fully initiate their own version of 4th impact, which would take away Shinji and Kaworu's initial and true rights to redo the world as they see fit.
But this was stopped when Gendo used to the deification collar to kill Kaworu, because Gendo wants to use Shinji and the remaining Key of Nebuchadnezzar to create an impact in his own image.

tl;dr - basically
>Kaworu and Shinji are FAR/angels, and the original impact triggers, which is why they deserve to redo the world as they see fit
>but SEELE and Gendo prevented them from achieving their wishes via key/eva/spear fuckery, only using them as "batteries" to trigger the impacts instead
>basically, everyone is manipulating Shinji to some extent so that they redo the world as they see fit, but Gendo outsmarted them all with his master plan

This could all be so easily fucking resolved if everyone just got together and wrote a wishlist for Shinji to enact while he's 4th impacting his lance of longinus into Kaworu's white moons. That way none of this bullshittery would be necessary.

No I showed my girlfriend the rebuilds without imprinting my personal bias and she agreed with me that 3 is the only one that attempts to capture the emotional weight of the original show.

Not the person you responded to, but Rebuild has different lore and I think that is what is meant, that they’re Seeds of Life (which are the closest thing to the original FAR)
