Impossible, there's only 12 episodes left, you can bet your ass that 7 to 8 will be about the Spider Mountain, 14 chapters is what that arc took to complete and as the pacing so far has shown ufotable will slow down/give more focus to scenes they deem as cimax worthy so it is a given Zenitsu's fight will be stretched and Tanjiro's fight sure as hell will be as well.

The series will end at the recovery intermission after the Pillar Summit, before it reached the train arc, around Chapter 53.

This never happens before later at night (GMT-4), sometimes it happened on mondays when not on schedule.

Let's assume they end it on 53, is that a bad thing? Unless you're on your dying bed or fear they'll hand S2 over to JC Staff, I see no problem in them taking their time to tell the story at the pace they're going. Is it a "hurry and get to my personal favorite scene already" kind of mindset that drives people to complain about the slow pace in KnY? Bones got some similar complaints with their BnHA adaption now and again. Both studios seem to aim to tell a complete story without prior knowledge of the source material, with a bit of pace meddling to end seasons on arc interludes. That's miles away from actual stall tactics that Toei and Pierrot used to do with their non seasonal continuous shounen adaptions, or those best-of compilations like Index or Danmachi, that condensed entire volumes into a few episodes so only the highlights get covered, omitting all the little stuff that helped flesh out characters and the world in the first place, forcing you to read the source material as supplements.

I didn't say anything about being bad though, I was just claiming the almost null chance of the Train Arc happening within this first taste of animated Kimetsu, quite the contrary, I think it would be bad for the Train Arc to happen now, that would mean squashing 40 fucking chapters in the following 12 episodes:

- Spider Mountain begins at Chp. 29, ends at Chp. 43
- Train Arc begins at Chp 54, ends at Chp. 69.

Doing all that in 12 episodes would reverse the complaints some people have now, the slow pacing would turn in a rushed mess.

Why do actual martial arts/fighting-focused series hardly ever get this quality of animation? In stuff like Baki or the upcoming Kengan Asura anime for example, basically the only important thing is that the animation is good even but it ends up being one of the things cut back on the hardest? Makes no sense to me

Budget and the number of recurrent fights a series may have, you nentioned Baki and Kengan Ashura, those two series have fights non-stop and would need more brand recognition to have a bigger budget, meanwhile that scene in Kimetsu is the only fight the episode even had, Kimetsu has plenty of still shots and minimal movements outside actual fights to save the budget.

Most of the episode have sluggish pacing. 1.5-2 chapters in 20 minutes is just bad. This is not a matter of "hurry the fuck up get to red district already".

Your point concides directly with wanting the series to hurry up to another arc and point and like. Just think for a second, if they weren't adapting 1 chapter and a half or 2 chapters sometimes then they wouldn't have a proper control of the anime series end, the slowdown and rushdown are there to make sure the series ends in a point in time where an ending would make sense, with a climax battle over with and a sense of mission accomplished, that can only happen in the intermission after the Spider Mountain.

Any manga readers here? I've never read it but I'm watching the anime. The animation is fantastic and I really like the aesthetic and character designs (although there's something off about the character heights). Only problem is that the story and charachters themselves are very bland.

Does it pick up later? Many battle shounens start out pretty dull and slow, so I'm happy to stick with it if the story is going to pick up in a couple of arcs.

Read more manga, even something that everyone should have known by now, Dragonball, had several points in which the series could have ended but it didn't, as early as the final battle against Red Ribbon.

So 53 would be best to end the anime, right? It's got the right amount of continuation bait, shippingfaggotry and progress that would bait returning viewers. But thing is that with the current pace of the anime, they'll barely finish Spider Mountain and would just end at just cuck the viewers in the Pillar summit (hell they might end it just as he regains consciousness and meet them). Besides, ending in 53 isn't perfect either; ending it in essentially a training arc/breather chapters isn't exciting either.

The current pace of the anime can cover the entire Spider Mountain just fine, even with original scenes added in, in 7 to 8 episodes as the arc was 14 chapters in the manga, the remaining 4 to 5 episodes can cover the whole Pillar Summit and recovery with breeze.

Agreed. Condensed adaptions almost invariably end up badly and best forgotten, as they usually just seem like best-of compilations that coerce you to read the source to get the whole picture. On that note, fuck Bones for hurrying through the early arcs of FMA:B because those were already told in length in the old series. The seasonal approach may still demand a bit of pacing fuckery to end a season at a good point, but it's nowhere as bad as continuous adaptions sunk to. Remember Inuyasha where half an episode ended up being reused in the followup episode to stall for time? Compared to those extremes, both of which have already happened to droves of other series, KnY's approach so far is king of the hill.

Still would be rushed, if you actually bother to count the chapters that amount from the beggining of the series till right to the end of the train arc (Chapter 1 to Chapter to Chapter 69) it would be an average of 2 chapters and 2/3 of a 3rd chapter per episode with no breaks, it would speed up some of the transitions scenes sure, but all the actual fights and climax moments would be destroyed as rushed wrecks.

Is this desire for faster adaptions coming from simply wanting to see more stuff animated as soon as possible as you will have to wait longer at the current pace? I could only somewhat get the point of people complaining about the pacing if they are afraid Kimetsu will never have any other animated adaptation after this, thus fearing their given favorite moment from the manga might never appear on the screen. I think the main problem is the reuse seen especially in the last episode. It's too much and even nico nico rating dip real bad. There's a better way to handle that like in this episode where the fight is longer. If they add more scene instead of reuse or still images in episode 13 the rating probably went higher.

For everyone who thinks that this is the final arc, how do you think they will be able to defeat Muzan and UM1 when:

If the pandering is only cosmetic like adding 10 seconds of cute boys doing cute things then I don't care.

Fujopandering is only a problem when it affects the plot or characters and so far there's been none.

I believe there's going to be at least another major arc. The most important hint towards it, putting aside Tanjirou being kind of out of commission, is that the new (or old) UM5 still hasn't appeared. Considering Kaigaku was given number 6, it means there is a 5.
As many other anons pointed out, UM5 (Uzui's brother?) is probably going to kidnap Nezuko, opening the final act. Muzan will probably overcome the drug made by Tamayo, but that will render him incapable of absorbing Nezuko immediately in some way or another, giving the hunters, who escaped the fortress by slaying UM4, a small window for preparations.
Also Tokitou might really be taken and return as a demon, making for a 4th major fight in the last arc (Muzan, Kokushibou, Tokitou and Um5).

It all depends on what is written in Senjurou's letter, though.

Then when Tanjirou protected her and got in a fight with Tamioka another stronger instinct was activated and she protected her brother.
And later on she gets hypnotized by thinking all mankind is her family.
I guess it's the shock trauma + the forced oni-fication + two instincts fighting each other + hypnose that makes her into a pet like oni.
