Then, after Gon's story reached a climax, Togashi let him lose his nen. This is not a problem since the manga is not about fighting or even Gon himself, so it move on with Kurapikka as MC. Anything can happen. This honestly is maybe the biggest reason why I like hxh so much and why I became a Hunterchad. I used to be an OP fanboy but I got bored with the repetitive, formulaic arcs of OP.

Sanji's like Chopper, their best arc by far was the one they debuted and they're very likeable in that one arc, but after it they sort of turn to shit. Sanji's more prominent so Oda probably felt the need to "update" him somewhat. People will try to tell you that he didn't have enough melodramatic in-depth backstory upon introduction but not every character needs that, especially in this series where lately every major character seems to have something like this going on.

The emotional payoff to me with Sanji was encountering his family as a strong adult, telling them how he felt and what he cared about, regardless of result. It wasn't about just giving Sanji an emotional backstory but showing how he's moved past that as his own man.

The point is that we had no reason to test the commitment of any of the crew members at that point in the story; the best cases were Nami and Robin during Arlong Park and Enies Lobby, but even then they still acted with love for the crew. Right after dressrosa and before Zou introduced this Sanji Vinsmoke shit, NONE of the strawhats would need the same sort of pointless "character development" Sanji got in WCI. Oda introducing that facet to Sanji was entirely contrived just so he could pretend like he developed Sanji's personality, when he really ended up the exact same as before.

The problem is that it's nothing new. Testing ones convictions and capabilities is fine, but not when it's redundant. Every single Straw Hat already challenge the entire world at Enies Lobby for the sake of their Nakama, why the hell do we need proof again and again that they are committed?

My poblem with Sanji's background is that while him being from NB was known, and his face being hidden from the world for so long certainly implied it will be important later, Sanji's backstory has really no effect on him. You'd never figure you're dealing with abused and neglected child when looking at him. Heck, he even happily calls himself a prince at least two times even though his time as a prince was hell for him. All his important character traits origins were known since Baratie aside of his perviness which was a gag, so it really didn't need anything and his inability to hit woman which ironically ended up being attributed to Zeff too in WCI arc (as many people predicted but Oda was quite vague when asked). Sanji's second flashback seems really unnecessary especially coming almost 20 years after his introduction. Also, it's really boring, most of OP flashbacks have something more going for it than "look at how sad it is pls be sad".

I still don't think Zeus and Prometheus should be considered to be part of Big Mom. Soul is closely connected to life span and plays a part of a fuel, by discarding some of her lifespan, she breathes life into them. That life is it's own thing. They have different personalities from Big Mom, and each other, and clearly can act independent.

This debate can even go further and reach philosophical questions really. Is a clone of person "A" is person "A"?. Cause I would say no. So even if Zeus would be a clone of Big Mom, which he is not, but if he was he wouldn't be Big Mom because from his "birth" their experiences would diverge, making them different. Not to mention that Zeus is male, so even IF he had all memories and personality of Big Mom to a tee, but only his gender was swapped, he still would be different because he would have a different perspective being of different gender. Not to mention, Sanji at that point wouldn't care cuz he is male or at least genderless non-human entity anyways.

I think you're reading too far into things. Concern for crewmates is one thing, but taking the personal history of a crewmate has felt and reacting as if it was his own is overboard. And yes, Sanji did ultimately leave it up to Nami, but only after Nami told him to shut the fuck up. That whole interaction isn't consistent to Sanji's character of being reasonable or empathetic if he jumps the gun that hard and tells someone to kill on someone else's behalf.

It's shit characterization at worst and a gag at best. Since this was the Era of Sanji nosebleeding and igniting on fire when he remembers tranny island, it's not unreasonable at all to assume that his overreaction (which it was) was a gag

He didn't just save Reiju, he saved his entire family. When judge asked him why, Sanji said because "his father would be disappointed" to point out that he was raised to care. And Sanji knew Jinbe saved Luffy's life from the newspapers, even if he's confused about it, he knows that he's not just some nobody to antagonize.
