For brand new, unless you really dive deep and have patience, its going to be hard to find most popular ones for under $40. For lesser popular ones, make that $30.

I bought the Sanae Nendoroid, she seems to be legit. I compared her to pictures of a real Sanae and she is exactly the same. The box checks out, has the circular sticker and looks and feels like every other Nendo box, has all the right flaps. The figure quality looks good, its not shiny or or anything. Comes with all the correct parts, she seems to be real.
I bought if from a seller called anime korzy. They seem to be legit.
The only issue I had with her is she was incredibly sticky, even though the box was sealed so nt hotglue should be happening. I think its because she was just old and sitting in a warehouse for literally 8 years. So I gave her a quick rinse in cold water and she's fine now.

What you see with the promo images are what you get with nendos and nendo petites. But I recommend only getting petites of a character or series you really love, like your waifu. Otherwise they're too small and don't have the swapable fun that full nendos have. They stopped making petites for that reason.

I know this is bait but I'll bite. My life has actually improved since I started to buy anime figures. I've been learning about photography and how to build my own dioramas.
I was half joking but I'm genuinely curious. There are a few characters I really like whose figures I've thought about buying, but the price and practicality just don't sit well with me.
What kind of photography do you do with them? Recreate scenes from the show/manga and stuff?

All that said I prefer dolls to figures. Far superior for playing. I love to carry them around and talk to them. I don't do anything lewd to them but, unlike a figure, I can set one up in a sexy pose if I want or change her into an outfit that reflects whatever I fancy at a given moment.
That or whatever idea comes to me. I'll post a couple photos.
