The author's words are right here: The Ilya route would have come before the Sakura route if you consider the overarching narrative.The Ilya route remnants in HF focus on Zouken as the main villain, whereas the Sakura route parts have him having his role usurped by Dark Sakura as a twist.

I was only following the series for her, and I'm happy she got her happy ending, even though she deserved someone much better. If Utrhafags wanna celebrate KM, then let them. Megumi is still the most popular Saekano heroine, gets the most merch, most fan art, and most official work as well.
