It was a generic (?) first episode with your usual infodump and the next one seems like it's another infodump dumpster. I like that Mang has a sister because it could imply that she can summon a mecha too. The OP music and visuals were great but the ED sucked ass on both. I guess if we could stay low on side characters could be great to develop each girl nicely. The battles were fine but Mang One-shooting everything was dumb, I expected at least a swordplay. Girls screamkng their lungs out in the blaze of the battle is great, cliche but great. Want to legit know what happened with the girl beamed, seeing her mecha was torn into pieces so do her pod, and I love those "continue" at the end of a episode. I think I'll stick with this one.

I don't have much to say about it. Girls in mechas don't have a good track record and this episode didn't have much to it beyond the out of context action. The mechas are of the magic kind, which is a shame because that means they can basically do anything and the fights are mostly colored beams and flying around instead of hits and movement with actual weight behind them. I'll watch the next episode because it looked pretty enough, that's all.

Take into account that the story was announced as "about a soldier and a ruler who meets in the heat of the war" deal. Sure, the battle was good but it failed to carry their message. Neither of them meet until the final episode despise them being the poster girls. Of course after the first episode it was just wasted potential left and right, until everyone just forgot about it. Here at least it delivered in it's synopsis, so it's miles better than EnD.

God the mechas look so shit, if it wasn't for that I'd be a lot more into it, but with half the show being just strobing lights and CG I don't know. As for the rest, impossible to tell, I think it's too broken up, there are like threestyles/genres/shows and they just alternate. You've got "spooky magic ambiance" with the red moon, the heartbeat, and the ancient conspiracy stuff, then you've got "standard japanese highschool storyline" with your ditzy MC, angry bitches fighting for dominance, dark-haired mystery girl transfer student, bento-boxes etc..., then you've got "hot blooded mecha pilots with frikkin laser beams" where everyone constantly screaming, the only strategy is SHOOT MORE POWER BEAMS, and power level is 100% a combination of bloodlines, chanting vaguely emotional shit, and screaming as loud as you can while exploding.

None of them mesh with eachother, or even try to, it's just alternating between them. It's the first episode, but if anything that's the best time to blur them all together. Hot-blooded awkward highschool girls using spooky ancient magic to fight in giant robots would be pretty decent if it was all at once.

My excitement went down after the PV revealed the mechs are SD and I'm still not a big fan of them after watching the first episode, but MC's mech design is pretty legit. I can get behind this one, even if the others are mediocre.
