I’m 20 chapters in and it’s okay, I see most people saying it’s shit, can someone explain why

Its really just generic shonen and not in the good generic like MHA but just okay generic.Also it feels worse in everyway compared to the authors previous work Soul Eater. Im not a feminist but at least the chicks in that manga were very competent. In this one the nun and cat chick are literal dead weights.

No. It'll generate some good sakuga people will talk about, but the source material is pretty weak.

Soul Eater ran out of gas pretty quick story-wise but it leaned far harder into its aesthetic and had some really interesting character designs throughout. Fire Force is really pretty boring on that front minus a couple standouts. Shinra is incredibly forgettable as a protagonist.

My first reaction was that it was really stupid. There was a nun praying, the fire house is a church and the MC has fire coming out his feet. All of that is extremely stupid. I liked the animation and the action scenes were well done. I watched Granbelm right after watching this and it was shocking how shitty everything looked in Granblem. You couldn't tell what was going on in the action scenes. They looked so messy. The robots looked like a mess. It was just still images basically being moved around because "theyre moving so fast" with stupid beams and generic magical circles that we've seen in thousands of shows before. So really well done action in this show compared to that shitshow. I liked that the Infernals don't all look the same. So many shows have these generic enemies with the same basic design. There were two types already in the first episode. The introduction of the MC was well done. You already get what his story and motivation is from the first episode. The action was good and it didnt waste time with the story so A+. Cute girls too.

Another thing I don't see people talk about is how the villains basically always win or are one step ahead all the time. So it makes any victories the heroes get feel really flat because "it's furthering the badguy's secret plan". It's not necessarily a bad thing but it gets tiring when it's basically every single encounter with them. It's like plot armor but the villains have it.

It's trash for the most part, but there are some great fights, and the ending is kino.

That depends, did you like soul eater? If yes you will like it since its the same thing but with re-skinned characters, everything is the same for the most part. The series got some cool characters and fight scenes + art is great overall. The only negative thing i can say that the story is pretty weak, but than again he was never a good writer to begin with, and some of the fan service later on feels a bit forced but nothing to cry about.

But yes, if you like soul eater you will like this. If not, well its kinda a average shounen but i like it since I like the creators work and background + style of humor.

I think I'd agree, their intial motivations are almost exactly identical, they both want to be heroes as kids to save people, Shinra more specifically to help his family, Deku because he idolizes All Might. Shinra loses his family and copes by concentrating all he can on fulfilling his hero promise to his mom. Deku presses on becoming a hero despite the initial odds being against him, but ultimately it's just because it's something he wants to do, he's not doing it for anyone else.

This just reminded me of how that ED went from fluff to snuff real quick.

I hope she at least get an ending like nero. That type of sacrificed character getting a shitty bad end or becoming crazy and evil always annoys me.
