it's about their fetishes not recognition
You keep thinking that these are for anyone except the author who made it and the audience that happen to share the author's fetishes and that perplexes me.
It doesn't need to be the one as long as it sells.
How does that perplex you? If you aren't writing for the reader how do you expect to sell volumes or convince a publisher to pick you up? If anything thats perplexing.
quantity over quality, they hope that by keeping throwing shit at the wall something sticks
they don't expect shit
it's the publisher that decided your wanking would sell shit apparently
This applies to every entertainment genre ever
writing for the largest audience possible is every true artists dream tho
how else would they make mad bank
i had to solve 20 captchas to make this shitpost, what the fuck
gotta understand the process
>WN
>some basement dweller posted in Japanese fanfiction.org about his fetishes, writing is very low quality because he never written before, gets popular due to people with similar fetishes
>LN
>the publishing equivalent to pulp and YA novels picks it up for a quick buck and low cost. gets someone on pixiv to do the illustrations. Pixiv guy is a starving artist that has pretty good art but no connections, good deal
>manga
>webmanga site does a semi-official manga of it with just as much cost as making the Webnovel in the first place (barely any). Famous H-artist is put to the task in an effort to go legit. Beautiful art due to years of drawing fap-worthy porn
>anime
>2-bit studio wants to fill timeslot and makes a throwaway anime. Doesn't do much to it but gives some animators freedom and it still has some of the design quality from the other two material before it
>average boy
author thinks he's perfectly normal, it's the western natives who are weird by not being born in glorious nippon
>has a harem
author insert obviously need several beautiful women who appeals to the author's fetishes
>overpowered
are you expecting the author insert to struggle?
>does something simple everyone sees him as a genius
author insert is a modern man in a world of primitives, of course he's going to get the accolades he deserves
>why do isekai authors think theirs will be the one
They don't? Where the fuck did you get this idea?
OP thinks they're doing it for money
it gets adapted for money, it gets made because the author wants to fuck elf slaves
Idk what you're talking about.
They are.
Japan does pretty much everything for either honor, or money to not die
Fetishes > money.
sorry but the existence of isekai debunks that theory completely
Don't you think its the other way around? Like in they don't one to be the one, but to be just one? So they follow the formula because the formula works?
Because when you want to design a new superior car, you don't just create something alien-looking. You study existing cars and carefully craft a better one. It will not be original but you may get successful.
Same is when you find a winning art form. Yo don't just try something random, you try to perfect the existing and switch only if the perfectness is here.
Different in its premisse, but still the same shit where it counts, she has a special skill that makes her be above all other peasants, remembering her past life and can read better than anyone else.
>Japan does pretty much everything for either honor
In a medieval Japan you commit seppuku, in a modern Japan you commit isekai?
>MC is isekaied as a slave
>has no special skills
>does slave work until death
Doesn't sound like a fun premise.
This. Only americans have that dumb mentality that everything you do should be marketable.
Most isekai start as WNs and are written as hobbies. They are not trying to be the next big thing or subvert the genre, they are simply writing for fun about the shit they like.
>writing for the largest audience possible is every true artists dream tho
It is every publicist's dream. Not every artist is interested in starting a brand.
I'd better write something I like with 0.001% chance to become a star than write something I hate with 0.002% chance to become a star.
At least her knowing trivia about making paper and other things is justified in the manga, unlike those isekai whose MC is regular high schoolers who knows how to make gunpowder or other things from scratch.
That depends on the type of work and owner.
I think a better indicator of good isekai is the support cast around the MC. You can have a good MC but if everyone around him is cardboard cut outs then it's mediocre at best.
>true artists
t. never talked to an artist ever
every artist's dream is to get rich making exactly what they love to make. some sell out, but many, if not most, continue making what they love to make out of passion while scraping by. japanese animators are a prime example of this.
>useless portagonist gets isekaied without any special skills as a slave
>the world is nice, the owner is kind and the story is essentially slave cgdct
Now that would be a good story.
I think a something similar to a gender swapped version of that MC as the owner would be good. Maybe someone like a certain Tomoko.
this
though Dragon Marked War God was an exception since despite it being a generic chink novel Big Yellow is fucking awesome (like Chinese Bender, but also as a talking dog).
>implying they're artists
OP is just mad he can't make a living out of writing shitty fanfiction
>implying he can't
A well-meaning dork gets reborn in a nice medievalish world as a noble? Can work too.
>Maybe someone like a certain Tomoko.
Tomoko as in Watamote, or some isekai Tomoko I forgot about?
Watamote, having someone like her buy a male sex slave MC, possibly with the later ones being female slaves.
