>20 year shoujo series getting merch
Can't believe I'm living in this great timeline.
Anyway, episode 14 today with suffering bunny, who's ready?
>20 year shoujo series getting merch
Can't believe I'm living in this great timeline.
Anyway, episode 14 today with suffering bunny, who's ready?
Could you protect his smile?
Kyoko-san going wild
>New opening
wasn't expecting that, pretty cute
ED was pretty comfy too, I prefer the first ED and OP though
Almost full suffering this episode, jesus christ.
Pretty confirmed they'll push Hiro and Ritsu before the monster Kyo arc
>Having a picnic in a graveyard
A cute! Why did he turn into a bland ikemen?!
;_;
I like this version of the story better because it shows Tohru having a breakdown because of her own mother and not Tohru being a completely saint just feeling empathy out of nowhere for Momiji.
cute family
wanted to watch this but the art style is so ugly
hate the modern animu look
It's called going through puberty
mayonegg
Just watch the old one then
That was harsh.
You'll get used to it eventually, it helps most of the show doesnt have blatant QUALITY.
The old anime is incomplete and by DEEN, the only good thing is the OST.
The new ED is amazing, I want these plushies.
Three kids in 9 years
Kyo is ruthless
How close are they related anyway?
like every Sohma, 18723837th grade cousins.
why would I do it? I hate that kind of characters
It still seems pretty grim to pair any of them
Grim? why?
Since they're related and all
There's always someone outside of the family marrying a Sohma, they're a pretty big clan. It's not a big deal, if anything it's better than a small village regarding in-breeding.
>This episode
Lads
shigure with short sleeves
>2019 anime is making the older guys look way hotter
The power of not going through Takaya's art change
Is fruits basket any good?
The premesis honestly sounds retarded
The premise is just a cop out to talk about family abuse and stuff, if you like that subject just watch it.
It's supposed to be dramatic but for some episodes it kind of have the same effect as anime described as iyashikei. Quite enjoyable.
Tohru a cute.
In her defence, look at this fucking monster she was expected to raise.
Quads confirm momiji a shit
I need no quads to confirm user has shit taste
It wasn't because he's a rabbit, but because he's a fag.
If you had a hard life you will cry every episode, if that's what you are looking for watch it.
Whenever she wears the black shirt, she upgrades to sexy.
I want to hug Yuki!
I think I have a need to catch up on the last few episodes
I she really ugly?
No dumbass the series is going to end with the tease of Rin so the Kyo arc will be episodes 18/19
I want to see her tiddies!
Canonically? She's described as pretty but plain.
Just tell me, do best girls get anyone at the end?
The umbrella jumps were retarded.
Uo Fugs the bird of the Zodiac and HanaMarries a literal who from a foreign country
horrible quality but this is what this season is ending on
Only __Kyo__ can.
>Kyo and Tohru got the most busy out of all the cast
they even beat out Ayame and his kinky maid
Nobody can see her titties because they don't exist lol
In her defense the only characters drawn with chests of any significant size are Rin and Ren
They do exist, they are just small.
>implying that's a bad thing
Shit taste
So I don't understand.
So monkey has a human mother yet the other girl gets chimped out on...?
Maybe the human mother knew about the whole Zodiac shit before. That or she went overprotective with him
Yeah
I'm not exactly sure what either of you mean here. Ritsu's mother became overly protective and super apologetic over everything he did
Hana-chan as well but she's not the slutty gothic type so it doesn't show that much
Not every mother will feel disgusted by their kids, user. Mothers of kids with huge physical disabilities are extremely overprotective and loving, or just simply abandon their kids (adoption, give them to other family members etc)
Not only did they have the most kids but they were the third to have any. And they were only behind 2/3 of the Mabudachi trio which is understandable because they're 10 years older than them
Where's the new episode? can't afford crunchyroll this month :'(
>Ayame and Mine are older, established, financially secure and have been years together.
>Two kids and stopped at that
>Kyo and Tohru probably went through financial difficulties and are way younger
>Three kids with small interval between them
Abe-sama would love Kyo the most
You're not into the "old shoujo anime style" aka not a patrician and it shows
>they see your dick
>Using Adidas to visit a cemetery
He's worse than them
Yeah, as much as I love Tohru she does get a little much in the series. It's addressed but I'm glad we're getting a bit of weakness from her early on.
That's kinda the idea, it seems cutesy but gets real deep with it
Oi is Fruits Basket Another worth reading?
I'm curious about the future of the FB cast but like is the actual story worth reading?
The actual story shows up around half of the second book, and there's only three. It's not bad though, I find Sawa more relatable than Tohru and some of the new gen of the Sohmas are super cute or loveable (like Yuki, Hatori or Shigure's kids). The older cast gets mentioned but barely show up except some secondary chars like Megumi (Hana-chan's little bro).
The other MC is Akito's kid so you'll see more mentions of her, Shigure, then Yuki, Kyoru, Ayame etc. Chars like Kureno or Ritsu gets no mentions at all
Sounds like a good nicotine patch replacement for fruits basket. I read all 22 volumes in between episodes 11 and 12...
There's two cute side chapters about Kyo and Yuki's sons and them. Both of which end up kind of bittersweet
Out of curiosity, did you download the scans from madokami? otherwise you might want to check it out again, the translations available in online readers are more than 10 years old and rushed, around book 15+ more shit starts getting 2deep4translators and some stuff flew over their heads.
About Another: go for it but theres like 2 volumes online, the third one will be released in USA around january I think.
>Yuki crying in front of his son because nostalgia got him and he mentions how many good memories he had while living in Shigure's house
I GET IT
Remember what Momiji said. Parents either freak out or get really overprotective. Ritsu's mom is the latter
I don't get it
And thats a big dog with a fluffy tail, best dogs.
Best girl in the HOUSE
I think the light is supposed to represent "god" and Akito is generally represented with flowers
What a cute female monkey (male)
He actually cried because he didn't grow up with a loving home and parents and the fact that his son told him that he and his mother will always be his home got to him
Wait, then who mentioned about the house's nostalgic feeling? I'm messing up parts
Is it just me or is the trap monkey looking like even more of a trap then usual?
Don't tell me they're seriously gonna go full-steam SJW with this reboot and make monkey trans?
I was already getting suspicious with the hesitance to use any pronouns for either Akito or Ritsu in the dub.
Ritsu gender was always unspecified in the hot springs episode to make the surprise reveal that he wasn't actually the last female in the Zodiac. The Akito thing is just Funimation being fags
>That stare dog gives
What did he mean by that?
That was him wanting to fuck Akito I believe. He definitely has weird sexual tension with Isuzu though
>Dub
Irrelevant
Why didn't he fuck the horse when she offered herself to him?
Because Haru might kill him. Haru physically can't go after Akito but he could easily fuck up Shigure
>He definitely has weird sexual tension with Isuzu though
She gets touchy and intimate with him just in hope she could get some info out of his dick, but once he rejected her it was over.
Pretty fucked up how desperate she was.
There's nothing to gain from it
What's to gain from him fucking the ugly reverse trap though?
The person you really love is always the most arousing desu. But hey they both gain nothing from their constant fucking.
Reminder that Dog used to be a good boy before the cuckening happened.
im glad i got to see ayame and they didnt change a lot from their previous anime adaptation.
this last episode was truly sad, wish shigure was my bf but he wouldn't transform into a dog if I hugged him
Shigure literally makes himself way worse than he actually is, worst thing he did was mom fucking.
>inb4 "but the Rin cat prison deal"
He can't predict the future, he wanted the old hag to get the box herself.
No he was still a prick. Hatori is the only Mabudachi who was a good boy since childhood
friendly reminder that shigure, and ayame probably had sex and maybe hatori double team with shigure on ayame
Hatori was one of the biggest Akito enablers in the entire clan, he recognizes it. I know he's a great guy all around but he's also a coward who won't get that much involved and watch from afar.
Bros being bros
what happened to isuzu?
Kureno will always be the biggest Akito enabler next to the head Maid. Hatori didn't particularly enable her but he definitely was overly forgiving to her
what do you mean?
>during mating season, some male snakes when feeling cold they pretend to be females so cuddle with other males and warm their bodies
>ayame was offering his body to please all his horny male classmates
>eastern dragons have long bodies like snakes
>ayame shows respect to Hatori
>snakes in many fables including in the bible are known to be deceitful fooling other people into believing their lies
>Ayame deceives Tohru to be close to her body
So far Ayame is the one who is written more akin to the animal he turns into
He's actually whispering to her that he's sorry he killed her mother.
what did she go through to act like this?
Her parents beat her violently. It's why she was hesitant to like Tohru at first(since she's motherly)
and why she gets so pissed when Kagura hits Tohru to get her point across.
is really funny how the anime tries to play the love triangle but in this episode kyo sat next to tohru instead of yuki.is a nice detail
>Her parents beat her violently.
why? because of the curse?
essentially yes. Isuzu definitely had the worst parents followed by Kyo. Yuki's parents were bad but never outright hated him like Rin and Kyo's did. Basically her parents were faking as much as they could to have a seemingly normal home until she mentioned something about it and they snapped
For a character that's supposed to be smart he almost got his waifu killed. He knows Akito well enough to know that she would go mental once the curse starts breaking and will need to be put on suicide-homicide watch. He doesn't want Akito to be near Kureno but at the same time relies on him to babysit her and keep her safe. Akito is a dangerous woman with the the power to get away with her actions.
I wonder how anime onlys will react to the fact that Haru is in fact not a flaming faggot but a turbo chad
goddamn, is it really hard to warn the families that their child probably be born with the curse? why does the curse even exist? is not like they are trained to be akito's bodyguard or something
>not 10 in 9
not ruthless enough
>3rd row
That was a woman? I legit thought that was a guy
It was originally a curse. It was supposed to be a promise from god that they would all reunite at some point. The only one who was truly cursed was the Cat. The others had the promise twisted into the curse by the family itself. I'm also under the impression that Akito is the only time god was reincarnated.
*it wasn't originally a curse
>cat doesn't want to be brought back
>"hey, let's also bring him back and torture it"
is hard to feel empathy for the rest, oh, your parent hate you, well at least the rest can sympathize with you, unless you are a cat
Kyo> Rin> Yuki> Momiji>>>>>>>> rest of the zodiac desu
It's a girl pretending to be a boy
jesuschrist kyo, you planning to create an army of orange hair cats ?
Unless she gives birth to twins or more that is practically impossible
>is it really hard to warn the families that their child probably be born with the curse
Only a few select people know about it
He could very well be bisexual. He does have a crush on Yuki but is in love with Rin
>Kyo got nervous when people from the souma Family compared Hajime to him
It's little things like this that hurt
the implication I think is more that he's pan. And he did have a crush on Yuki he doesn't currently since him and Rin are already dating by the point of his introduction.
holy shit, not only they humiliate the cat by leaving him behind and miss the party but they want to bring him every reincarnation to torture it because...why exactly?
it is weird how they are allowed to live inside the residence and carry the name but not know about this detail about people changing into animals, it would save some trauma experiences
>the implication I think is more that he's pan
>pan
so he's bisexual
Akito was always a woman. Her mother was batshit insane and her father wanted a son.
>He could very well be bisexual
i really love how they animate haru trying to comfort yuki, is so cute
No he wouldn't fuck any guy other than Yuki
I'm so glad I don't understand any part of this post.
Additionally, have you seen a newborn rabbit?
is it worth reading fruits basket another? i mean the curse is lifted so what's the poiint?
i never implied you have to fuck anything for being bi, but if you dont mind if its a man or a woman then that makes you bi
It's really only worth it for the last few chapters with Shiki and Sawa and for little moments between the Souma kids
Her father was fine with Akito being a girl. Akito was raised as a boy because her mother was jealous she was a girl
Having a hard life is why I thought Fruits Basket was so fucking awful. Nobody in it acts like a real person, and the melodrama is off the charts.
Because god and the other zodiac were still salty about cat's rejection of god's immortality potion.
And to think that cat was the first one to approach god because the cat sensed god was lonely... Sheesh, talk about no good deed being unpunished.
nothing that happens in this is really out of the question. The only thing any of the parents did that was sort of our of the norm was Machi's parents thinking she'd murder her brother out of nowhere. Disliking your cursed unnatural children isn't that odd. And Kyo, Rin, and to a lesser extent Momiji were the only ones with abusive parents
>cat was the first one to approach god because the cat sensed god was lonely...
is this why the party was made?
Not everyone has the same reaction as you, I saw a bit of my life experiences in a bunch of characters and ended up getting even more attached to them.
It's not the life experiences that were ridiculous to me, but the way every single cast member reacted to them. I know trauma affects people in an uncountable number of ways, but the characters in Fruits Basket pretty much felt like watching someone write down what they assume traumatized people act like without actually having interacted with any.
Shigure- Normal parents
Ayame- Neglectful Parents
Hatori- Normal parents
Kureno- ???
Ritsu- Overprotective but loving parents
Kagura- Loving Parents(or at least mother)
Isuzu- Abusive Parents
Kyo- Abusive Father Overprotective Mother
Yuki- Neglectful Parents that try to change for the better
Haru- Seemingly neglectful parents
Momiji-Shitty mom decent Dad
Kisa- Overprotective Parents
Hiro- 10/10 parents
Overall the family situations are very overblown by the fanbase
How so?
She wrote about several different cases of abuse, probably didn't went through a bunch of them so her writing might be exaggerated due the lack of personal experience.
For me it works pretty good though, I saw myself in characters like Rin (including the nervous breakdown and vomiting due it) and my sister in Akito (except the whole reverse trap thing obviously)
It's been a long time since I've read Fruits Basket, plus I don't want to blog too much, so forgive my lack of major specifics.
I will say that the level of healing Akito experienced relative to the short timeframe was legitimately laughable to me.
Rin's freakouts felt like watching a Lifetime original movie about a girl who had been abused. A lot of fiction presents traumatic flashbacks as involving dialogue reflective of the trauma, like here, but I've only ever known something like that to happen to people very rarely and under very specific circumstances.
Just stuff like that--reactions to trauma at times being really theatrical. And I get it, it's fiction, but it's a story really reliant on the trauma of its cast, so that falls apart for me when it's not portrayed very deftly.
Yes, they're not offensive portrayals or anything like that, they just seem really inexperienced. Some things were certainly on the mark, but too much of it buckled for me. I've known some people who are extremely similar to Akito, but that's exactly why, while her personality is on the nose for that type of person, the ending she gets makes zero sense.
Overblown how? the most I've seen is people actually saying how it is: Rin, Kyo, Momiji and Akito are the ones who got terrible family experiences.
Yes.
I'm still not sure how that banquet thing suddenly translated as a curse for humans.
I can agree with Akito's issues being a little swept under the rug but Rin's panic attack is not out of the question with the sort of issues she had.
Her panic attack isn't out of the question at all, it just seemed as though Takaya didn't have much experience with panic attacks. But I'm not going to keep harping on that point because, while I have spent a lot of time with people dealing with trauma, I'm not the ultimate authority on mental health. I'm just remarking on why it fell short for me.
I hope we get a Tohru scale.
Spoilers about Furuba Another
While I do agree that Akito was forgiven quite fast, her future is not really sunshine and rainbows just because the main problem was addressed. She still gets a bit of flack inside the Sohma house because of her past actions, took her almost a decade to have a single kid (on contrary of shit like Naruto were every female got pregnant at the same time), her kid also has to carry a burden because of her past actions etc. She's happy but not everything was forgotten
thats what mexicants do in the dia de muertos or when is the anniversary of the ded like in Tohru's case
dont' forget
Tohru - loving parents
Uo - normal dad
Hana - loving parents
Kyoko - neglectful parents
Katsuya - loving dad
Kakeru - normal mom?
Machi - neglectful mom
Uo-chan's dad is an old alcoholic fart, but she learned how to deal with it. Katsuya's dad was extremely demanding but became the moe oji-san when his wife died.
I am six episodes behind with this, every time I watch it I think it's good but I just can never be bothered to watch it.
You can't even tell who will inherit which cursed. Before Kyo
Kazuma's grandfather was the cat.
It's super rare for two curses two hit siblings.
The same I always had with Natsume.
So does Akito turn into a God when hugged, or what?
>Implying he's not regularly a god
>Akito fags exist.
Colour me surprised.
Jesus Christ, watching the new FB after having finished the manga way back makes me notice a lot of small details that I didn't even pick up on before.
Hot
Oh shit, yeah it got a bit incomprehensible after a while... Thanks for the heads up babe
Context tells me that should be the cat, but it looks like a dog.
is it shigure gazing at the moon, which represents god? or is it the cat being alone
At least Hatori was under curse magic to make him an enabler, Kureno fully did it out of free will. And that maid too
I feel bad for Kureno but I also can't help but laugh at him; what a pathetic cuck
I don't think Rin had a panic attack, it was a flashback
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Proud
What the fuck, I thought this was a fury fujo show but it's fucking great.
Yea it does give that kinda vibe from the cover.
If I didn't watch it when I was a kid, I too wouldn't know what kind of show this is.
