I don't know if I want to get into this. The author usually has cool ideas but if Soul Eater is any indication man do they drop the ball when it comes to writing a conclusion.

Not really. Dragonball's ability systems have no direct ties to the main stories. The two are separate. Same with haki in OP, nen in HxH, and most other shounen. You have the story and then you have an ability system that isn't tied to the main story and is just put on top of it.

Here the abilities are a product of the main overarching story. Psyren did that too when the MCs got their abilities as a result of the main plot giving them abilities.

Alive - The Final Evolution is the best example of what I'm talking about with the abilities being tied directly to the plot rather than the characters having abilities just because it is a fantasy world.

They play a role but not in the way I am talking about. You've completely missed the whole point of the argument. Haki has nothing to do with the main story of Luffy wanting to build a crew and find One Piece. It is completely supplementary. It is just an ability system that exists in the fantasy world rather than the the main plot being the source of the creation of the ability system that is the source of the central conflicts and story points.

Dozens of new characters keep getting introduced for no reason other than spectacle while a lot of the other older ones are sidelined besides the main cast. And the powerlevel wanking is so flip floppy that it feels as if the mangaka literally just flips a coin during every confrontation to see who wins and calls it a day.

Almost every character has one personality quirk that defines their whole one dimensional self, not to mention the "humor" which most of the time is like aliens tried to write jokes. I feel like this show is gonna be a pretty big hit, it's a pretty generic plot from what i understand, the plot is just barely better then shit like boku no hero and black clover, but what really sells it is the execution.

Amazing visual direction, timing and delivery, and actually good character designs, with actually interesting personalities, I can just watch them stand around and shoot the shit all day, this is where typical shounen shit like MHA and BC fail.
