The anime version only looks different because animation character designs are typically easier to draw which means less details and more homogenity with other characters.

Black people as a whole are very sensitive and even more so in regards to race. Despite what they will tell you, they all just want to fit in, be accepted, and not be "black" (The "others"). They enjoy being black, just not "black" (If that makes any sense). Their ideal utopia is one where white people are not present (They don't hate us, they just want to have their own place for themselves, like Wakanda) and "they" are left to "themselves" to be "black, which then would just be default. Since black people are a varying degrees amount of white, they're all incredibly racist towards themselves and each other about who's more attractive (Whiter, but still black), leading them to do various things to hide, embrace, validate, denounce, and satisfy those insecurities. Those stereotyped traits probably remind them of those insecurities and how they're different from whites, hence offensive. But honestly it's almost always some white liberal being offended on their part, who is merely trying to act on their subconscious racism, superiority complex, parental abandonment, and savior complex.
