He kept doing these annoying same bait cliffhangers with predictable outcomes (yet reddit pretended they didn't see the obvious coming), until the very last chapter in which he completely ignored previous chapter (and it's ebin cliffhanger) and then pulled Naruto/Bleach ending in which everyone was happy and friends now.

The difference is that Ishida actually had a plan of what he wants to do with his manga since the start. The main issue is that he got too sidetracked with what was popular back then, so he started adding those things in his own story/referencing other stories way too much until his own story lost its original identity. In the end, he fucked himself over way too hard so he just wanted to finish it as soon as possible, regardless of quality.
Isayama on other hand never knew what the fuck he was doing. He just tried doing random story based on random idea he got at that moment because of some drunk guy. He just got unlucky that his manga ended up being too popular so he had to keep it going. He even said himself that he needed to throw his original ending (in which everyone died) into trash because his manga got too popular. It was solid at first because it followed a simple plot with trying to find out what's in the basement. This is why manga started going to shit after they finally completed that objective. Because Isayama obviously never made plans -at least not solid ones- of what he wants to do after the basement. This is why manga now looks like shit with a bunch of random nonsense and only shippers and shitposters give an actual fuck at this point.
